He’d rather ride the waves than the tide of romance.
Isaac Larson is the picture of surfing perfection, killer smile included. But ever since his long-time girlfriend left their small town for the summer—and never came back—it has been harder to find things to smile about. It isn’t until she turns up on the beach two years later, ready to pick back up where they had left off, that he realizes … left off, that he realizes he’s finally ready to move on.
Leanne Warner had only intended to spend the summer in LA. A screen-writing apprenticeship with a Hollywood bigwig had been too good an opportunity to pass up. Her boyfriend, Isaac, would still be around when she got back. Except, leaving LA hadn’t been as easy as leaving Starlight Ridge. When she finally breaks free of its chains and returns to her hometown, Isaac is still there, as she knew he would be. But he isn’t the same person as when she’d left. And neither is she.
Will some small-town intervention and a lot of forgiveness be enough for Isaac and Leanna to figure out they were never meant to be apart?
Resisting Love is the second book in the Starlight Ridge romance series. If you can’t get enough of small coastal towns, sweet kisses, and second chances at love, you’ll want to read this sigh-inducing love story.
Pick up Resisting Love and let Isaac and Leanne surf their way into your heart today!

Sweet Love Story That Goes a Little Deeper
The author of this book clearly sets the scene for both the hero and the heroine, showing exactly their frustrations and difficulties with where they’re at in life as the book opens. She had gone away two years ago for what she thought would be a three-month internship with a prominent LA screenwriter. She lost touch with her boyfriend from home and now is returning to her small town. He’s never quite gotten over the betrayal, and he’s just spinning his wheels in life. He’s also suffering from depression, which the author depicts with sensitivity. Each is broken in their own way, souls who need a little help to get their lives back together and find their way to each other, different now because each has changed because of all that has transpired in the last 2 years. A good read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Resisting Love is a sweet and clean second chance romance. I adore the realistic characters and ‘catching up’ with them from the first book is fun. They have some real-world problems that many can relate to. The story is well written and flows nicely with it’s twists keeping me completely engrossed. The narrator did a wonderful job in her performance.
Isaac and Leanne had been in love forever. But when Leanne left for LA to pursue her dream of becoming a screenplay writer, Isaac was devastated. Now, two year later, she is back in Starlight Ridge but will they have a second chance at love? Great audiobook
This story is about second chances in love and in life.
Though it definitely is a stand alone, if you read and/or listened to book one in the series, you meet Isaac Larson. The local life guard and surfer enthusiast.
Isaac lives a very simple life and still misses the girl that left him and the town to pursue her dreams in LA. Instead of being gone for the summer she left and never came back .
A couple of years later, Leanne Warner realizes that LA is not what she hope it would be, and returns home .
Though the town is ready to have a wedding, these two realize that the past is interfering with their present and likely their future. But as the friendship rekindles, so do the feelings.
Will these two find their HEA or will LA come back to sweep Leanne off her feet and away from Starlight Ridge and Isaac?
This was a sweet story about a couple rediscovering each other and themselves . As well as how it feels living in a small town.
I really enjoyed this sweet and heartfelt story. Both characters were interesting and flawed and very likable. They also had great chemistry.

The second book in the Starlight Ridge series a well written second chance story that kept me turning pages. This is Isaac Larson and Leanne Warner’s story of her coming back to Starlight Ridge . I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When I met Isaac in the last book I thought he was a beach bum lifeguard surfer mooching off his friends and pining for his ex-girlfriend who left him. But he reveals hidden depths and secrets in this book that show there is so much more to him. Leanne dreamed of being a Hollywood screen writer and gets her chance to work with someone in the business. Yes, she stopped communicating with Issac when she was in LA, but she also didn’t deserve all the guilt trips she received when she came back. The residents of Starlight Ridge form their own opinions and meddle which adds to the humor in the book. The path to a second chance at love between Leanne and Issac does not run smooth and is filled with misunderstandings and injuries.
Leanne is living her dream in LA learning from the best screenwriter in Hollywood. But she misses her hometown so much that she moves back. I loved how the whole town knows each other’s business that they already have Isaac and Leanne married when he’s never proposed. Yes, they’ve been together for 15 years now, but she’s been away for two years, and they have some things to work out. Isaac is hurt, Leanne hasn’t had her dream totally fulfilled yet, and Isaac feels like she could leave him again. I love these characters. They have real life problems, hopes and dreams. This book was well written and is my favorite so far in this series. I also love the entire town and location, and the reasons Leanne moved back home.
A beautiful second chance romance!
Two years ago, Leanne Warner left Starlight Ridge and her life-long boyfriend, Isaac Larson, to pursue her dreams in Hollywood with a three-month summer internship. Now she is back; hoping to pick up her relationship with Isaac where it left off but her surfer-lifeguard boyfriend is not in the mood to make nice with the girl who broke his heart.
This is a good second-chance romance about regrets and forgiveness. The small, ocean-side town of Starlight Ridge is a perfect setting for a love story and the quirky residents add a lot of flavor to the storyline. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
This is the second book in the Starlight Ridge series. It’s a clean love story about second chances. In this fun to read story, we get reacquainted with some of the characters from the first book, but you can completely read and enjoy this book without having read the first book.
In the first book, I thought that Isaac was a bit unusual. In this book, I found out that his longtime love had left for a 3 month internship in LA, but it’s been over two years. Not only has she not returned, she has cut off communication with him. He is heartbroken and unwilling to have a relationship with any other woman.
When Leanne decides to go home, she doesn’t tell anyone. The townspeople are ready to see a wedding, but Isaac really doesn’t want to start up their relationship again. He also has a secret that he hasn’t shared with anyone.
The story is well told. The characters are wonderful. I really enjoyed reading this story as well as the first one. I highly recommend it to lovers of contemporary, realistic love stories.
Story: 4 stars
I really like that this book explored motivations and how our decisions affect others and ourselves. It also touched on Isaac’s depression and how he dealt with it.
Leanne wasn’t a bad person, she got caught up in trying to please her mentor, until one day she stopped.
There is true love in this, not insta-love, since the protagonists have known each other for most of their lives. It was wonderful watching the trust be rebuilt between the two of them.
Narrator: 3 stars
Claire Duncan is the narrator and does a good job. Her expressions are good, her speed of reading isn’t too slow, and she does a believable male voice. I struggle with the fact that she emphasizes different words than I would, so it takes some getting used to every time I listen.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
This is the second book in the Starlight Ridge series. I fell in love with Starlight Ridge with the first book and was excited to visit it again. This is a sweet, clean, second chance romance. Two years ago Leanne left Starlight Ridge to pursue her dream as a screenwriter. Her and Isaac have been together for 15 years, but those two years they spent apart has put a strain on their relationship. Isaac feels hurt and Leanne hasn’t completely fulfilled her dream so Isaac doesn’t trust that Leanne is back to stay. He is afraid she will leave again. I loved how real and relatable these characters were. They were endearing and so easy to fall in love with. The storyline was well-written and the plot progressed nicely. I enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward to the next installment!

This was a good second chance romance. Leanne moves away to start her screenwriting career. what started out as a summer gone turned into two years. However, it didn’t make her happy so she comes back home. She hopes to rekindle things with Issac but he is not wanting that. As the book goes on they of course fall in love again and this time get their happy ending.
A nice, clean, heartwarming second chance at romance story. The characters are fun to get to know, easy to fall in love with and realistic. The story line captures your attention and pulls you in from the beginning. A romance that has that feel good feeling and leaves you smiling when you finish the book.

Leanne left Starlight Ridge for a 3 month internship with a screenwriter in Hollywood. That 3 months stretched into two years. When all that glitters isn’t as it appears Leanne heads home and to the friend she left behind. Isaac thinks he has put his feeling for Leanne behind, but really he is just existing. Kat Bellemore has given us an excellent study of what happens when things are not what you expect or when you have to react to great disappointment. I loved this story of Leanne and Isaac and their friends and family. Life sometimes has unexpected surprises.
Kat Bellemore has written a story that will definitely pull at your heartstrings.
This book has so many different emotions that are dealt with well.
The characters are appealing and real.
What a great second chance romance.
This book also went straight onto my wish list as soon as it’s release was announced and when I was given the opportunity to read the ARC, well, fill in the rest! Once again I am in no way disappointed as this story also met every expectation I had. It was another delightful and entertaining read in this series.

Leanne left Starlight Ridge to fulfill her dream of becoming a screenwriter – she had an opportunity to intern with a famous screenwriter who took her under his wing. She planned to stay in LA for three months, but was there for two years. Until she missed home too much. Isaac stayed. He surfs in the morning, and lifeguards the rest of the day. He’s just going through the motions of his life, until the mental illness that runs in his family, hits him with depression. Leanne’s back now, and this small town is still expecting the “wedding of the century” from them. Except that they’re barely speaking. This is the second in the series from Starlight Ridge, and it’s as good as the first book – five stars all the way! The book deals with Isaac’s illness in a caring and compassionate manner, and Leanne’s acceptance helps a lot in their journey back together. He’s still worried that she’ll leave again, having not achieved her goal before she left LA. They still love each other (not that they’ll admit it), but have to learn how to trust again. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Resisting Love is a beautiful, heartwarming, second chance at love romance. I love the town of Starlight Ridge. Everyone there is family. Isaac and Leanne are very interesting and complex characters. Leanne left for a three month apprenticeship. She returns home after two years. Isaac keeps her at arms length because he feels he had to move on without her. Will they manage to reconnect? The town is planning their wedding but they are no longer a couple. This is a well written story of love, forgiveness and second chances. I really enjoyed it.
This second chance romance with Leanne and Isaac was emotional and heartbreaking. She left her small town of Starlight Ridge for Hollywood to become a screen writer but after a few years returns hoping that her long term boyfriend Isaac will take her back but he is not sure he can trust her with his heart again. Will Isaac take Leanne back after she broke his heart before?
