Can you resist?
In this gritty MC romance, it’s a fight for their city, their club, and above all, their women. Enter the world of Chicago Defiance MC by internationally bestselling author, KE Osborn.more
As President of the Defiance MC, Torque has to wade in when members of his club get into trouble. That is how Torque finds himself hiding in a Froyo shop getting a tongue lashing from feisty server Heeley. The attraction was immediate but with threats surrounding his MC is the time right to build something with Heeley who is in med school and has goals of her own? Can Torque protect what is quickly becoming his?
Entertaining, I loved Heeley she is a firecracker. Torque is full of swagger that oozes off each page. Story starts off with a bang and does not let up until the very end.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This is my first foray into Osborn’s MC world and I must say she did not disappoint. Heely is a med student just trying to keep her head afloat when she meets Torque the pres of a local MC. With nothing in common these two should not be so attracted to one another but that is when the best things happen as this author shows us as the story progresses. Great MC world, characters you can relate to, and enough action/drama to really keep the story moving forward.
As the beginning of a new MC story, Resistance introduces all the club members and the back stories. It’s the perfect start to a new series.
Torque is the President of the Defiance MC whilst Heely is a medical student who works in her family’s Froyo store to both help them and have some kind of an income. They would strike you as two sides of a coin until they meet and there is an instant attraction. However, he has 2 problems to handle – the club owned by the MC is having issues with the local mafia (Andretti family) and the second one – the fathers of both families have a historic feud over the city too. Can their fledgling relationship survive such an atmosphere? Can Defiance and the Andretti family pull back from out and out war?
I loved this story. It had pretty much everything you expected from an MC romance book and then some. There were battles, injuries, healing, emotion, brotherhood, compromise and passion in this story. It was well told by the author and it was easy to empathise and feel the thoughts and emotions of the characters in the story. I’m looking forward to the next instalment in their story as I feel quite attached to them.
Second time read through and oooh wow still loving it.
Oooh my hot, sexy, beautiful, heartbreaking and wicked Torque Pres of the MC may have met his match Heeley sweet studying to be a Doctor can she be part of his world fully or not.
And after tragedy hit him 6 years ago can he let someone new in
Loved it so wicked can’t wait for more.
An excellent read. A MC in turmoil from all sides, Italian Mafia and now the Japanese. Danger, new love, heat and humor mixed in. The MC is fighting for their club family, their city and what they feel is right. Received this book free for an honest review. (less) [edit]
Will he Torque her into staying?
Resistance is the first book in the Chicago Defiance MC series and also my first book by KE Osborn. I liked Heeley and her siblings as they definitely made the book a bit more light hearted and humorous in the beginning. This book is also what you would expect of an MC story – in particular, the women, the violence but also the brotherhood and family aspect
Torque is an unusual biker Pres but I liked him. Because Osborn is a new to me author, I found I have to get used to the way she writes but I enjoyed this story and will see if the next book will also grab my attention
**This book was provided to Nerd Girl Official in exchange for an honest review.**
Resistance by KE Osborn is her first in her Chicago Defiance MC Series. It’s the first book of hers I’ve read. It definitely won’t be the last.
The Chicago Defiance Motor Club has been at war for two generations. Sometimes it’s a struggle just to survive. Torque leads them to the best of his ability.
Heely works in her family store when she’s not in her medical school classes. Her life takes a turn when several bikers run into her store.
Ms. Osborn has created both a softer sort of Motor Club, and yet stronger too, being actively at war with the local mafia. Perhaps because they have to focus on surviving that, they don’t cause some of the harder issues MC’s are known for? The dichotomy is refreshing in a heavily saturated sub-genre.
I suppose there could have been more focus, more heat, between Torque and Heely, but I feel there was so much going on, the balance worked for me. I’ll be looking for more from Ms. Osborn.

TRIGGER WARNING: This book does contain a lot of violence, talk of impending rape and a descriptions of blood. So if that sets you off, then this book may not be for you.
This is the first book I have read by this author and was very pleased with it. It focuses on Torque and Heeley, the way they met and how they manage their lives. Torque has grown up with the Chicago Defiance MC’s and has seen and dealt with some tough situations. Heeley wants to achieve her dreams to be a doctor. However, one day Torque and his crew show up at her family’s froyo shop. Torque did not expect to meet a sassy Heeley and she did not intend the same with Torque. This is where the story differs from the usual MC books and I loved it. It focuses on both these characters still trying to live their lives. It shows a side of Torque that I did not expect. How he wanted to have dates and learn more about Heeley. We read about how Heeley knows that there are dangers of being around him and her struggle of accepting his world. The chemistry with these two is sizzling and it builds up through out the book. Also you read about the war ongoing with the Defiance Mc’s and the Italian mafia. Heeley doesn’t think that it will affect their lives because she thinks that it will always stay separate. However, things do change and she will see things differently. I have to say that I really loved this book and cannot wait to see how this series goes. This is a definite must read.
Resistance is a great MC novel by new-to-me author K.E. Osborn. I really enjoyed how nice it was compared to a lot of other MC books I’ve read. Don’t get me wrong, it still oozes grit and a bit of darkness, and it still possesses all the qualities that you would usually see in a quality MC novel. It just also happens to have a level of sweetness to it between the love interests, as well as, a more in depth plot involving the politics of a Chicago turf war. I found Resistance an over-all entertaining and satisfying read! 4 Stars!
Seriously, why did I wait so long to start this series? I’m idiot that’s why! Resistance was SO GOOD! Jam packed full of all the things I love about an MC series…the brotherhood, action, adventure & all the alpha goodness! I could not put this book down. I cannot wait to dive into book two!
This is my first book by this author and I am hooked! I’ve been wanting to read her books for a while now but, never had the opportunity until recently. I love MC books and this one was so good. Torque is the President of his MC. Heely is the smart mouthed beauty he meets when they “loiter” her froyo shop. I could not stop reading. Diving into #2 now.
Loved this book. The characters are awesome! The storyline is amazing. And the writing is phenomenal!!
Torque & Heeley are from opposite worlds but a couple of run ins and one kiss causes their worlds to collide. He falls for are snark and sass. She falls for his sweet and caring personality. She has plans that won’t be detoured and after seeing a darker side of the club life she must decide if being with him is worth living in chaos and carnage.
This story is action packed and full of carnage, chaos, love, enemies, and so much more. There is never a boring moment when reading this page-tuner MC Romance!

Great MC story with true family values within the brotherhood of the MC. Well written and I will be reading on with the series.

I really didn’t like this book. It had some redeeming qualities, but there were too many things that irked me to actually like it. If I’m being honest, I almost stopped reading around the 30% mark simply because I was bored and had no desire to continue reading. It’s a bloody miracle that I did decide to go on. I am not the type of person to DNF a book, otherwise, this one would have definitely been abandoned.
I am just going to start off with what I disliked the most, which was the romance. This book is the strictest definition of instalove and I hated it. It was totally unbelievable and a lot of the romantic banter was cringe-worthy. Some of it was so bad that I almost felt uncomfortable. Once the instalove card has been played it is unlikely that the romance can be saved for me. Even if the characters display real emotions and can stand on their own otherwise. The one good thing that the romance had going for it was the chemistry between the characters. Otherwise, the romance was too unrealistic to have any merit.
Another thing that bothered me was the portrayal of the motorcycle club/biker culture. I don’t know if the author has any real-life experience in this area, but it did not seem like it to me. Since the day I was born, I grew up in the biker culture. My parents were bikers when I was a child and they are still part of a motorcycle club to this day. The world-building associated with biker culture was too unrealistic for my liking. It may just be that my real life experience differs from others, but it was still hard to get a grasp on the story when all of the world-building is surrounded by this culture and it feels like it was written by someone that has no idea what they are talking about.
I felt like the plot had some promise. It definitely isn’t a mind-blowing story that will blur the lines of reality with its epicness, but in terms of a guilty pleasure romance read it works.
I liked the background and side characters in this book much more than the two main characters. When it comes to the two main characters, I have to admit that they do have nice chemistry and it was mildly entertaining to a point. But for the most part, I found them both rather annoying. They did both have some nice qualities about them that made their characters stronger, but I could not get over how maddening they could be most of the time. I felt Torque was the stronger of the two main characters. His backstory was strong and full of emotion. Heeley was largely vexing and some of her dialogues had me cringing. I think that the members of the motorcycle club and the froyo shop pals were more interesting most of the time.
Overall, this just wasn’t for me. My real world parallels were too vastly different from what was portrayed in the book for me to really get into the story. The romance was disappointing, and while some of the background characters were enjoyable, that wasn’t enough to save this one for me. I also found numerous spelling errors that made me wonder how they could have possibly been missed in a round of editing. I can’t say that I can recommend this book, but if motorcycle club romance is your thing then you will probably enjoy it.
MC books are a dime a dozen. Some are twisted and dark other’s try to show them in a good light where loyalty and brotherhood is key. Let’s not forget the ones with rival gangs. Well this one is a little of them all. Each guy has a story and this one starts the series of standalone reads with a doozy. It’s not always easy to find your place in the world or know how to make a mark. She knew she wanted to be a doctor and did what she needed to do to get where she was even if it meant being the rebel. He had already lost so much and had barely survived. His heart was closed but he was healing in the only way he knew until he met her. The connection is there even without nurturing and feeding it but the brain wasn’t linking with the heart on this one. It’s a great read with plenty of action and a powder keg on the point of exploding and taking the city with it. Big decisions that impact lives will have to be made and maybe just maybe a fresh start for one not looking for it and a way to feed that rebel heart too. My first read by this author and it’s a great introduction, can’t wait to read more.
Wow, what a great start to a series. I’m hooked from page one. I didn’t know what to expect but it was simply amazing.
I loved Torque and Heeley they had to overcome some obstacles.
This isn’t like any other mc you have read. I can’t wait to read more.
Torque and Heeley/Foxy ~ Torque is The Chicago Defiance president of the club and Foxy is to become a doctor. They were so funny when they met. I love that part, it kept me read all the way through the book. WOW, K E Osborn is a badass writer.
It is so good to be reading another series by this author who always delivers quality stories.
Torque is the president of the Chicago Defiance MC when he unexpectedly meets Heeley Fox who is working in a frozen yoghurt shop. This is the start of something very new and different for both of them.
Oh my what a fun start to their relationship when he ran into her froyo shop! I particularly enjoyed her standing up to the three bikers with her sassy attitude! She is a pip! Torque is a great character too, he’s thoughtful and so caring. Between them the sheets burn up!
The war between the Chicago mafia family and the Chicago Defiance MC is really heating up. I like how this author doesn’t shrink back when writing the more aggressive scenes yet doesn’t go over the top, well done. And when the action starts so does your blood, pumping through your veins while you sit on the edge of your seat with baited breath!
This fast paced, easy to read book has a solid storyline that has a fabulous twist or two to change things up. I can’t wait to delve into the second book!
