Aspen “Blade” Carlisle is the last of his Delta Force team to find love…and he’s pretty bummed about that fact. Which might explain why he finds himself chatting up a telemarketer as if she’s a long-lost friend. But Wendy is surprisingly easy to talk to, so when they go from occasional calls during her work, to nightly conversations on their cells, it somehow feels right. So right, Blade … eventually convinces the funny, sweet woman to meet him in person.
When their first face-to-face meeting gets high-jacked, Wendy Tucker is sure she and Aspen made a big mistake in taking their relationship to the next level. But the man is nothing if not persistent. Before long, Wendy’s allowing the handsome soldier to spend more time with her and Jack, the teen brother she’s raising, than anyone she’s ever dated. Though she knows there are limits to how close she can get to Aspen, no matter how much she likes him. Limits carefully constructed to protect Wendy and Jack from a past they’ve been running from for years.
But dating Blade means having an entire team of Deltas at her back. Which may come in handy not just with Wendy’s past…but also when her brother faces a current threat.

I love this series! I love that all of Susan Stoker’s heroines are real life people and Rescuiing Wendy is no different.
If you love military romance, ANY series by Susan Stoker will suit you.
***5 Stars***
And we have another winner on our hands!
Not that anyone is surprised, least of all me, since this is my favorite of all the author’s series, but things go a little…differently in this one than the norm. There’s still all the swoons, melting and heart pumping suspense, but there was a different feel with this one that I really liked. I know I’m being vague right out of the chute, but…
Anyways, on to Blade aka Aspen and Wendy. I loved Blade. He’s open, honest ~ even if it doesn’t always help his cause ~ and is simply an honorable guy. He has his moments, like anyone else, but even when he goes a little sideways, he’s still a good man. Wendy. I loved her, I did. She’s sweet, compassionate and has gentle soul. Add on the fact that she’s raised her brother on her own for a decade and you have a pretty amazing person on your hands. She has her…issues, and though they drove me nuts, I understood where she was coming from.
I loved the way Blade and Wendy first connect and how it went from a telemarketing call to them meeting and then more. There was an ease to their interactions and it made it easy to see how good they could be for each other. There was an underlying issue that was always between them and as things progressed and they became more, it because a huge wall and I hate how that wall was finally toppled, but I’m not necessarily mad at either of them for it. I know, I know: vague and verbal vomity, but you really should expect it from me by now. In the end though, it was a necessary evil and I loved the path it set them on in the end.
As with all of the authors books, she takes on issues that have become quite prevalent in our society and the ones that she touches on here will be triggers for some, but they are dealt with honestly and respectfully. There is a bit of a twist in this one that I didn’t see coming, but I liked it. It was something that has been brewing for awhile and it was interesting to see how all the parties involved dealt with it. Since this is my favorite series, hanging with the Delta Force guys and their women is always fun and of course Annie, but to say that I’m excited that Truck and Mary’s book is next is an understatement. I’ve been looking forward to them ever since they met in Rescuing Rayne and it looks like it’s gonna be hell of a ride!

OH YESSSSSSS! Another Delta Hero book from Susan Stoker. Rescuing Wendy is exactly what I have been craving! Its a sigh worthy romance with just the right amount of suspense, a slow build love story that will make you believe in heroes and romance and the power of friendship..especially when you read about all my favorite Delta Heroes and their women. I have come to realize that once you start a Susan Stoker book, you will not only become hooked on the current read, but come to desire her books in EVERY series and STILL want more!
Rescuing Wendy is Blade’s story. I found him to be a perfect gentleman, patient, extraordinarily handsome, sweet, protective…pretty much EVERYTHING I desire in a hero. And Wendy..I admire the heck out of her! What she did for her brother was pretty brave..even if it was scary. She did and gave up so much just to keep him safe and loved. That is pretty darn amazing to me. And she deserved to have the kind of hero Blade is. There is a bit of drama, but it was quickly made to right and the story was incredible to me. It made my heart melt, made me want my OWN Delta hero and made me want the Mary’s book something FIERCE! Gah! I LOVED IT!
Rescuing Wendy gets a HEARTFELT FOUR AND A HALF SHOOTING STARS!
This is such a sweet story and a little different from Stoker’s other stories. It still focuses on one main couple, Wendy and Blade, and it shares tidbits from the rest of the Delta family, letting us catch up on news from them as well as giving us some hints of things to come but this one does not focus on the ‘damsel in distress’ in the true sense of the word. But there is conflict, plenty of suspense, emotions, family, turmoil, and a sweet romance that will leave you wanting more. I was fascinated with Blaze from his appearance in other books and have been looking forward to his story and his happy ending. Wendy, I was on the fence about in the beginning but I warmed up to her rather quickly the more I learned about her background and what she was hiding/running from. She and her brother have been through a lot and I liked the fact that they looked out for each other and were a strong family unit who relied and depended on each other. I also enjoyed Blade and the other Delta’s interaction with her brother and helping him out in his time of need. I love how they all banded together in battle and at home to be there for each other and help out. This book also reveals a shocking secret, that those who have read the past books in the series knows Stoker has been hinting at before, and it causes a huge rift in the group as a whole and shatters their trust. A tense situation of danger helps to re-establish some of their bonds but it will take more that working together in dangerous situation to repair the damage done. I am hopeful for a positive outcome in the final installment of the series, Rescuing Mary. I have been looking forward to Mary and Truck’s story and I know it will be a doozy. Though this book revisits the other Delta’s and their families, it is Wendy and Blade’s story and can be read as a stand-alone. *I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Whoa!! I could not put this book down. I just kept reading and reading. Everything was so great about this book. The action was just, wow. And that ending! Holy smokes. There were twists and turns, and everything in between. I think I’m still wrapping my mind around it. One thing is for sure, Susan Stoker has done it again with another great book. There’s also great lead in to the next, and final, Delta Force Heroes book.
Wow………this was one awesome story of what Wendy and her brother went thru!!! Loved how Wendy is just like the other Delta Women (strong-willed and independent). I can’t believe the huge spoiler that happened in this story and it caused a huge rift in the Delta Force Family, hoping the Delta Force Men can fix this. Now I am counting down the days until Rescuing Mary the final chapter in this lovely series.
“Rescuing Wendy” is the eighth book in the Delta Force Heroes series and it is the story of Aspen “Blade” Carlisle and Wendy Tucker. Blade and Wendy meet by telephone, one of her jobs is a telemarketer. They find it easy to talk to one another on the phone and decide to see if their chemistry is the same, face to face. Their first meeting doesn’t turn out as planned, but eventually they do meet, and Wendy also allows Blade to meet her teenage brother, whom she is raising. Will secrets from her past tear these two apart or will they be able to get past those secrets?
This one was a little different from the other books in this series, but it was still a fantastic read!
5 stars
Blade/Aspen is a member of Delta Force and the last of his friends to fall in love. One night a telemarketer calls trying to sell him life insurance and they end up talking like they’ve been friends forever. Wendy is raising her teenage brother and working two jobs and is the telemarketer that called Aspen.
After talking for several months on the phone, Aspen convinces her to meet in person. When she goes to meet him, there is a mix up and Wendy ends up leaving before talking to Aspen. After the mix up is straightened out, they began dating but Wendy is keeping secrets. Wendy could lose the best thing that has happened to her if she doesn’t open up to Aspen.
Misunderstandings, secrets, and hot sex. A woman willing to do anything to keep her brother safe and a guy who just wants to love and support her.
Such a wonderful story that mit only centers on Blade and Wendy (and her younger brother) but on the strong friendship within Blades Delta Team. Very amazing.
This story is a little different from most of the other stories in this series. The relationship between Wendy & Blade begins without any life or death drama and progresses naturally. It would seem this story ordinary with the typical bumps and bruises but in fact it is pivotal for the Delta team. You’ll just have to listen/read it to find out why.
Oh I love the dynamics of Blade and Jackson. Wendy would sacrifice anything to protect Jackson and now Blade is standing right there next to her all the way. See how this edition plays out.
I have loved this series and have enjoyed each separate story about one of the team members. It is also good being brought up to date on the previous team member and their ladies.
Ms Stoker has done it again. I could not put this book down.
I would highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves romance between alpha males and strong females.
Rescuing Wendy is not only a love story but it deals with something that many people especially teenagers deal with on a daily basis…bullying. Susan Stoker handles the topic well. Aspen “Blade” Carlisle is the “last man standing” when it comes to relationships. The last place he ever thought he’d meet his “one” was over the phone. Wendy Tucker is hard working, self sacrificing and raising a teenaged brother on her own. She has secrets though. Big secrets. It seems the closer she and Blade get the more at arm’s length she keeps him. Moving forward may not be possible if she doesn’t let him in.
Another great story by Mrs. Stoker.
I loved this book because it felt real. This wasn’t a getting kidnapped in a jungle. This was a man and a woman meeting in a weird way and navigating their new relationship. They are learning about each other and learning to trusts each other.
I loved the relationship between Aspen and Jackson. There was a real friendship and family dynamic that was fun to read.
I can’t wait to read about Mary and Truck. The ending of the book broke my heart.
This is the eighth book in the Delta Force Heroes series by the incomparable Susan Stoker. She’s my go-to author for military romance, and this last book of the series doesn’t disappoint. Aspen ‘Blade’ Carlisle is the last man on his team to find romance. But he quickly becomes attached to dispatch operator Wendy Tucker.
But Wendy has a big secret. And she’ll even compromise her budding relationship with Blade to keep that secret if it means protecting her and her brother Jackson. Jackson has some issues of his own, and Blade just might be what both Jackson and Wendy need to deal with their past and start a new future.
As always, an incredibly entertaining read that I just couldn’t put down once I started it. I just love these Delta guys!
All of Susan Stoker’s books are excellent reads.
Love, love, love Susan Stoker
This one had everything I was wanting and needing in a book. Aspen was terrific, supportive, human and sexy as hell. Wendy was protective, human and in need of a good man. I can’t wait for the fallout of Truck and Mary. Wedding x 4. I do think Jackson will eventually get his story. Love how Fish was included.
Note to self: Don’t put off reading a book just to get through crappy ones trying to clear space on my TBR list.
I have read all the books so far in this series and I’m addicted! This is Blade and Wendy’s story and it was intriguing, captivating, steamy and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I could not put this book down!! The way Blade handle Wendy’s insecurities and was right there for her when everything comes to a head, had me swooning.
I just finished reading Rescuing Wendy by Susan Stoker in one sitting which is business as usual once I get a Stoker book in my hands. I’ve read all of Susan Stoker’s books and they all have had five things in common, the five star rating that I’ve given them.
The relationship between Wendy and Aspen (Blade) began slowly as they got to know one another on the phone but heated up despite misunderstandings and drama. This book is another win for Stoker’s Delta Force series but now I’m chomping at the bit for Truck and Mary’s story. Well played Susan Stoker!!!
