What a fantastic read and with all the fires out in CA now – tragic – Aiden has so many problems both physical and emotional and then to see the fire coming – he helps his elderly neighbor get away because he takes her sheep so she has no Worries – but then it all seem so terrible – it was so very real – love her writing! I read a bookfunnel version and freely leave my review!
Good, clean, entertaining read! So much detail in the firefighting aspect that it felt real and involved. I honestly cannot imagine going through something so traumatic. The author brought the characters to life with their broken histories and struggles that come with that. I liked all the animal involvement and how they would react in a wildfire. The ending was realistic with dealing with the emotions that come from an event like this. And of course – the happy ever after. I recommend it!
A great book…..especially in this time of unimaginable wildfires. This is the story of a rancher and a firefighter who endure an out of control wildfire. Without going into detail about the book I will say that it is a story that delves into personalities and what defines the two primary characters of the book. Definitely a must read!
Jade Carlson works really hard to prove herself in a mans world. She’s decided to take on the family tradition of public service and join a male dominated profession of firefighting. Her job puts her in danger but her heart might be on the line when she meets handsome rancher Aidan Bell. They may be able to save each other!
What a Great Book Page Turner and I Didn’t want to put it down.
Another great book in The Heroes of Shelter Creek Aidan Bell is a rancher who has been through a tragedy and can’t seem to move on with his life except to take care of his animals he has on his ranch He is so stubborn and firefighter Jade Carson will see a whole new side of Aidan that she cant forget she has fell for this rancher! Jade and Aidan battle a wildfire on his property only to feel the spark of something unexpected This is such a great book and it is a page turner I give this a 5 star because it is such a great book Claire McEwen has done it again if you haven’t read you should you wont be disappointed!
Attention grabbing characters, fever pitched drama and more feels than you know what to do with … this may just be my favorite book by Claire McEwen yet! With book four in her always endearing Heroes of Shelter Creek series she dazzles with a heart wrenching story of a grieving rancher whose property is in the path of an out of control wildfire and the headstrong firefighter left to fight by his side. The story line was riveting, the characters were extremely easy to like and each of their backstories were heartfelt. I loved everything about this book!
Aidan Bell is such a good guy! I instantly felt affection for him and wanted to see how his choices would fair. It was rewarding to see him make a connection with the first person that’s caught his eye in quite some time.
Jade Carson was a bit abrupt at first but we could see through her bluster to the heart of gold underneath.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who loves a sweet romance filled with a whole lot of heart.
I was so scared for the characters reading what they experienced working together to save Aidan’s animals and Aidan and Jade’s lives as a wildfire raged through the area. The author was so descriptive in her writing that I felt like I was there dealing with it alongside them. I loved Aidan’s loyal dog Chip who was determined to help even when he became injured. I felt Aidan’s pain over the loss of his son and how he felt like he was losing him again and his memories to that fire. Jade was tough and stubborn not wanting to show weakness in her quest to prove herself as a firefighter and make her father proud. This was a clean emotional suspenseful romance.
Claire McEwen’s novel, ‘Rescuing the Rancher’ was a beautifully written novel. The main characters, Aidan and Jade made the story come alive. I also loved the way the town came together to help each other in times of devastation. I was on the edge of my seat as I felt like I was actually there experiencing the fire as well as their lives. I was scared for Aidan and for Jade as they had to make split decisions on what to do to survive. There were times as I was reading it that tears were rolling down my face not for just the sadness of what was going on, but there were tears of joy at times. The book was an easy to read book, which is what I preferred, since I do not like books that have a lot of long and complicated words that to me take away from the story. I also loved the romantic twist in the story where I could actually see the love growing between the Aidan and Jade. There is no imagination there. I hope that anyone who reads this book finds as much enjoyment as I did. Thank you Claire for allowing me to experience an adventure that will always stay in my heart and mind forever. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to jump into an adventure and a heartwarming book. I definitely give this book a five plus rating.
Rescuing the Rancher is another great story in the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. I really enjoyed Jade and Aidan’s story, and it was interesting to read about their strategy to try to save all of the animals and survive the wildfire.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I definitely would.
This was a nail-biting story! The action of these two protagonists and animals trying to survive a California wildfire was one that kept me glued to my e-reader long into the night (until the eyes finally gave out!) The scenes were so well written that I felt like I was right there with them in the midst of the danger.
Jade Carson is a firefighter out of Shelter Creek. Her boss sends her on a mission to alert families along a stretch of country road that a wildfire is approaching and to leave immediately. Jade knows that she was given the assignment because she is a female. Being the professional that she is, she immediately complies but knows that she will have a word or two after the fire is contained with her boss. She comes across a grumpy rancher, Aiden Bell. He refuses to leave. He has to save his animals and an elderly neighbor’s animals. Jade comes back to Aiden’s ranch after notifying the last family. He isn’t around. She leaves a note to tell him to get out. Jade is on her way back to her boss when a tree coming crashing down preventing her escape off of the ridge. She goes back to Aiden’s ranch. Thus beginning the fight for survival for these two and a few animals.
This story is told in a dual POV format. Reading Aiden’s POV really got to me and helped me to better understand his reluctance in leaving. (I can’t say why here.) These two clash many times but really work well together to try and save his ranch.
While this story is part of a series, you really don’t have to read the prior stories to read and understand this one. I am so glad that Aiden got a story in this series though. He was a small secondary character in the first story and I really liked him.
This is a sweet, clean romance that I highly recommend to anyone. I so look forward to more Heroes of Shelter Creek!
Rescuing The Rancher is a fantastic addition to the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. This intense, emotionally charged story grabbed me at page one and didn’t let go. I was on the edge of my seat throughout so much of the story waiting to see what would happen. A gripping romance with wonderful characters and a story line that was so well written. Aiden and Jade’s story is superb. Claire McEwen is one of my favorite authors and I have loved every book she’s written.
RESCUING THE RANCHER is Claire McEwen’s fourth book of Heroes of Shelter Creek series and the most intense romance because it takes a wildfire to bring Aidan Bell and Jade Carson together. While they battle the wildfire, a wildfire of attraction burns between them. From the start, the reader is battling alongside Aidan and Jade against the wildfire to save his ranch. As the wildfire moves on, Aiden and Jade are left behind to deal with fire burning between them. The accuracy of Claire McEwen’s details of the heat, sight, sounds, and the smell of a raging wildfires leaves you feeling like you have fought a wildfire yourself. RESCUING THE RANCHER is heartwarming story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and give you a glimpse into what the firefighters experience in battling a wildfire and the devastating loss. I received this complimentary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Returning to author Claire McEwen’s Northern California-set “Heroes of Shelter Creek” series is always a pleasure for me as a reader. The characters are interesting and appealing–their story lines are emotionally compelling, and they tackle difficult real-life issues head on. Book Four, “Rescuing the Rancher”, is the story of Aidan Bell, a man struggling with deep personal grief, and Jade Carson, a young woman who never gives up when there is someone or something to be saved. When a disastrous wildfire threatens Aidan Bell’s ranch and the surrounding properties, he will do his best to save his animals and the animals from the other nearby ranches. Jade Carson is a firefighter assigned to warn anyone in the area to manditorily evacuate, but Aidan won’t leave without trying to save the animals. With a slim chance of survival, Aidan and Jade work furiously to battle the roaring beast of the fire. Throughout a long day and night, the two of them form a connection as they strive mightily to survive the fire and protect the livestock. Each of them has long-standing personal issues to overcome, but is there a chance for them to embrace a hopeful future and build a new life together? “Rescuing the Rancher” is an exceptional contemporary western romance, and I know that readers will greatly enjoy this book and the other entries in “The Heroes of Shelter Creek” series.

I was instantly pulled into this riveting story of Rescuing the Rancher. Aiden was this strong, sexy rancher with soulful eyes showing a deep loss and Jade was a strong, independent, fearless woman working in a man’s world as a firefighter and trying to prove to her father she was as good as her brothers.
This book had me quickly turning the pages as I read it in one day. I could not put it down. I really like this series. This is now my favorite book in the series. The characters and what happened to them, the fire and everything Jade had Aiden do to try and save his buildings and his animals. The compassion Aiden had for a promise to his neighbor before she left and what happened to Colby, Aiden’s three year old son, that had died and left a hole in his heart until Jade came along and gave him a reason to live made this story so compelling. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review
The Heroes of Shelter Cheek are back, All the books in this series are great. Characters are true to life
with real problems and heartache. All have past secrets these are feel good books, all clean stories with wonderful plots. This one was different in that unfortunately this story will hit close to home for many. It is about a fire in CA and with all the destruction in real life there now it may be hard to read for some. This was very real for me as I have a family member who just lost their house in the fires.
This is Aidan Bells and Jade Carson story one is a worn-down rancher, who has already lost more than anyone should. He is just making it day by day with too many memories and quilt. He has his ranch, cattle, sheep his best pal is Chip the Cattle dog who will win your heart and having you crying for him before it’s all over. Payday, the big buckskin quarter horse will also win you over fast. His closest neighbor Nellie is an elderly lady rancher with prize sheep.
Jade Carson is a firefighter and has spent her whole life trying to make her critical Father proud of her. She is the youngest with three brother who all hold public service jobs. She has grown up knowing her father wanted all boys. She is one tough strong women thanks to him but she is afraid to ask for help, or let anyone one in thinking that will make her look soft and feminine.
As Aidan tries to save Nellie’s sheep and Jade tries to evacuate everyone on the mountain paths cross and both end up trapped with no way out.
This very intense, high drama story is almost too true to life. You feel like you are right there in the fire with them.
Be sure and get your copy and find out if these two will ever have a happy ever after.
I read this in one sitting as I just could not put it down. Also, anyone who loves cats needs to read this story. The books can be read as stand-alone but so much better in order as characters from past books are in each story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Break out the tissues because this one is a tear-jerker. This is an emotionally intense and impressive plot. The characters are flawed, each in their own way, but they are so good together. The author’s intense description of Aiden’s grief at the loss of his son brought me to tears. She also gave such detailed accounts of the fire that you could imagine the heat and hear the wind. Claire McEwen most definitely did her research on fire-fighting techniques and equipment used to battle wild fires. This is my favorite book so far in this series but I am pretty sure I said that about the previous ones when I read them 🙂
I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
We are back in Shelter Creek and the Heroes of Shelter Creek series. This time, the story belongs to firefighter Jade Carson, and rancher Aidan Bell.
Jade is a dedicated firefighter. When the wildfires in the county threaten the neighboring ranches and their families, she’s sent out to warn them to leave. One of these is Aidan.
Aidan is a man who’s had tremendous losses and is determined to not only save his ranch and animals but also those of his neighbor. But when he refuses to leave, Jade stays to help.
The danger of the fires escalate and their lives and those of the animals is threatened. The descriptions of the fires will keep you on the edge of your seats as we spend time with Jade and Aidan. Amidst the possibility of not seeing another day, they develop a bond .
Will they see another day ? If they do , will they acknowledge their feelings or will their past and expectations keep the apart?
This is a clean heartbreaking as well as heartwarming romance about losses, danger and new possibilities. A great addition to this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book . The opinions expresses are solely my own.
Aiden was heading into town and noticed the smoke of a fire burning on the mountainside. He starts back to warn his neighbor Nellie of the fire and works on a plan to evacuate their animals.
Jade is a fireman that has been sent to warn the residents to evacuate the area. She comes across a stubborn rancher who doesn’t want to leave his animals behind.
This is an awesome story that will have you on the edge of your seat. It was so hard to put down. The characters were good, enjoyed the story line and could feel the emotions just like you were part of it.
Love all her books but really enjoyed this one the best.
This is a heartwarming story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I literally read it in one sitting. Jade Carson is a strong independent women who is a firefighter and grew up in a house full of boys and a critical Dad, all of whom serve public positions. Jade has felt like she must get her Dads approval her whole life. A wildfire is threatening a small group of ranchers and Jade has been given the task to evacuate them. One stubborn rancher Aiden Bell is not leaving his memories or his sheep and livestock behind. Aiden lost his little boy to illness and feels guilty, his ranch became is place of solitude and he blocked everything out but his elderly neighbor Nellie. Aiden starts to head into town but sees the smoke from the distant fire and starts getting Nellie out with her Llamas and her livestock except her sheep. Aiden promises to take them to his farm and keep them safe. The wildfire is moving quickly, Jade ends up being trapped and she and the rancher must fight the raging wildfire together. Even in this terrible situation they find love and courage, sharing secrets and hopes. I loved Jades sense of humor, even in the thick of things. The energy builds from the beginning and steadily grows throughout the story. The descriptive writing style of the author helps you to feel the heat and smell the smoke. It was very well researched and the firefighting techniques that Jade used was fascinating. After the fire the people of the town of Shelter Creek rally behind Aiden. I loved the ending. Look forward to more books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy I received from the author. All thoughts are my own.
