I enjoyed the entire Curses of London series because in addition to historical romance, many of the characters were inspired to help people outside their own sphere.
Love this book. It’s one of my favorites!!!
Good story but toooo much yukky sex to wade through.
Easy reading, escapist literature
A story about helping others in the right way. Kept hoping bad guy would get what he deserved.
appreciate the encouragement for a woman of that time period to be brave
I loved every minute of this wonderful story. Tristan, Grace, and Grace’s young son Matthew were thoroughly engaging characters, so alive and written with such emotion that they literally leaped off the page and into my heart!
It was a good quick read. The main characters were carrying burdens inflicted by others, but found a way, bearing witness to anothers’ journey, and reason to change themselves. It was nice to see how the goodness of one person can affect so many others.
Love! Love! Love!
Very much a happily ever after story. Very original and wonderful characters.
Loved it
Enjoyable story. Not a clean romance, therefore only 3 stars
Love Rescued Them Both
I am on the fence about this review. I liked a lot of Rescuing the Earl by Lana Williams, and I was put off by some it. That said, I think it best to just list my likes and dislikes.
I liked the story, and I like the characters. All the characters were all well developed with individual personalities. The dialogue seemed to fit the era, as did the descriptions.
I didn’t like the excessive internal dialogue, which often was repetitive. The wordiness slowed the pace and much of it could have been edited out.
Content 411: Although the light swearing is minimal (15+), there is some passionate kissing and one descriptive sexually intimate scene.
She was running for her life and he was running from the darkness of his soul. Rescuing the Earl starts out as Grace and her son are fleeing for their lifestyle on a dark and stormy night and from there it takes off on a rollercoaster ride with a twisted and dangerous villain who spins a web of attempted murder. Lana Williams has filled this story with characters that come off the pages and pulled me into their tale, a story that is well-written, strong plot and great dialogue, with setting descriptions and action sequences are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly. It’s a heart felt story filled with drama, angst, uncertainties, passion, trials and tribulations, turmoil and as tensions intensify and mayham abounds with twists and turns that will make you hold your breath until the end in this outstanding story!
I loved it!!! Everything in the story was laid out with precision, logic and tact. The opening of the book grabbed my attention immediately and held it all throughout the story. It starts with urgency and danger. Throw in unease, anxiety, suspense and danger and you have the recipe for an adventure filled story. The romance builds in a realistic way that it creeps up on you before you know it is happening. I admired the way the characters were written with down to earth feelings, real problems and real solutions. It was wonderful to read how the characters rallied around our heroine so sensible, so reasonable, so bold without fear. It was miraculous the way the hero was affected by the heroine. He began to see himself in a different light and started feeling emotions that he never felt before. Our heroine was running away from danger and our hero was trying to run away from what he perceived was his abominable self. Our heroine feared for her son’s life and our hero felt he was doomed to live with the mindset of his monstrous father. The villain in this piece was perfectly played. This is an excellent read and I highly recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Strong storyline along with strong female character. Creates a feeling that you want to protect others.
This book is worth taking your time to read.
This is the third in the “7 Curses of London” and my favorite. Grace and Tristan are both souls in need of healing – she robbed of her confidence and self-worth, a wife, mother of a 5 year old son and widow – Tristan damaged in his spirit by an appalling father who valued brutality and cruelty above all else. It is a tender, warm and slow romance of need to bring out the goodness within. I very much enjoyed the addition of the two previous books heroes and heroines – Lettie & Nathaniel and Julia & Oliver. I truly identified with Grace as a single mother of a little boy. Her transformation is slow and totally believable as she, with the help of Tristan, begins to believe in herself. And Tristan with his love for Grace, finally forgives himself and hopes for happiness. It is my first series by this author and I want to thank her for bringing joy to me. The series revolves around the book ‘7 CURSES OF LONDON” which brings to light the terrible poverty and deplorable conditions people living close to the cream of society. Its center is how each hero and heroine are determined to do something to stop the child prostitution, the hunger and filth people live in. It makes today feel like paradise. Her characters are realistic, troubled and courageous, the romance tender. Very enjoyable!
