Sadie Jennings was used to being protected. As the niece of Sean Taggart, and the receptionist at McKay-Taggart Group, she was constantly surrounded by Alpha men more than capable, and willing, to lay down their life for her. But when she visits her friend in San Antonio, and acts on suspicious activity at Milena’s workplace, Sadie puts both of them in the crosshairs of a madman. After several … harrowing weeks, her friend is now safe, but for Sadie, the repercussions of her rash act linger on.
Chase Jackson, no stranger to dangerous situations as a captain in the US Army, has volunteered himself as Sadie’s bodyguard. He fell head over heels for the beautiful woman the first time he laid eyes on her. With a Delta Force team at his back, he reassures the Taggart’s that Sadie will be safe. But when the situation in San Antonio catches up with her, Chase has to use everything he’s learned over his career to keep his promise…and to keep Sadie alive long enough to officially make her his.

This book! It is the best of both worlds! Susan Stoker did such an amazing job with Sadie. I loved her in Lexi’s books and Susan did an amazing job! Case and Sadie have such amazing chemistry and I loved reading their love story. I loved that we see the vulnerable side of both Sadie and Chase, it does not diminish them but makes them stronger in the end. Add in suspense a hawt love scene and this book gets 5 stars! I have not read the other books in the Delta Force series but could follow along with the plot just fine. I cant wait to read the next book in the Crossover Series!
A nice intro for Stoker newbies and another great story for fans
While this book works as a standalone, for optimum enjoyment I’d recommend some familiarity with the Masters and Mercenaries series and Delta Force Heroes/Badge of Honor Texas Heroes related series. Having read Justice for Milena specifically will help set up the events here.
I love that this author’s heroines are strong and smart though not without their vulnerabilities (I know going in that I don’t have to worry about “too stupid to live” characters!) and her male main characters are actually heroes–usually military or first responders– and are strong, protective, caring, and alpha without being a-holes.
There’s a great mix of humor and heat to go along with the suspense and enough twists to keep me engaged and reading. Revising previous characters is always fun and Annie is a hoot, as usual, lol. This is a nice intro to Stoker-style heroes and heroines for newbies and another great story for those of us who were already fans. 5 stars

Ever since Sadie Jennings, Sean Taggart’s niece, was introduced in the Masters and Mercenaries series, I wanted Lexi Blake to give readers Sadie’s story. Sadie is such a sassy and spunky woman, and I knew that whoever she gave her heart to would be in for a rude awakening since Sadie is such an independent woman who, at times, can be a bit too impulsive for her own good.
So, when I saw that Sadie’s story was going to be told, and it was part of Lexi Blake’s crossover collection, I immediately signed up for an ARC, even though I wasn’t familiar with Susan Stoker’s writing. I thought it would be awesome to get a character’s story I really wanted and also be introduced to a new writer, and while I will say that Susan Stoker’s writing is exactly the kind of writing I enjoy, because I had no background of her Delta Force Heroes’ series, I felt like I only got part of the story because when Rescuing Sadie begins, parts of what’s happened to Sadie have already occurred, and now, the characters are dealing with the fallout of her choices and what that means for not only Sadie but for the hero, Chase Jackson, as well, because it’s his Delta Force world that Sadie’s story occurs.
Sadie and Chase’s story had the suspense, intrigue, and character chemistry that I love to read about, but I couldn’t feel the full effect of all of those characteristics because I felt like I was immersed into the storyline in the middle of things and because the action was already occurring or had already occurred, there weren’t many details offered that would allow me to be on the same page as readers who are familiar with Stoker’s series, so I just couldn’t catch on to everything that was happening in a way that allowed me to fully understand the entire story line.
I will say, though, that readers who are familiar with both series or probably just the Delta Force Heroes’ series would definitely enjoy Sadie and Chase’s book and not feel like they’ve been placed between the end of the rising action/climax of the story line, which would make a big difference to the understanding of everything that had already occurred before the book began.
3 Poison Apples
I read “Rescuing Sadie” in one sitting and I loved it!! I’ve been waiting for a book about Chase ever since “Rescuing Rayne” when Rayne was rescued by Ghost who used her special hair clip (given to her by her brother Chase) to free her from her handcuffs. This book has it all…. laughing, crying, sighing, loving and as it’s a Stoker book, plenty of drama and action. Susan Stoker is one of my go-to authors that I one-click without fear.
Where to start? Chase…such a bad*** sweetheart.
Sadie…such a bad*** sweetheart. Loved how Chase and Fish had their moment. Would love to see more of them together. Can’t wait for Annie to grow up enough for her chance at more adventures. I know we still have several more stories before the end, but I’m getting sad at the thought of ending the Deltas.
Buy it, Beg for it, Borrow it from a neighbor down the street. As long as you get it and read it!
This may be Susan Stoker’s best book yet!!!
A Lexi Blake crossover featuring some of our favorite people from Susan Stoker AND Lexi Blake’s books! Rescuing Sadie has ALL THE FEELS, ALL THE HIGH OCTANE SUSPENSE, AND ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND ONE SENSATIONAL, HEART-SWOOPING STORY!
I KNEW the moment I found out about this crossover it was going to be something I NEEDED to read…and I. Was. Right. All my favorite Delta Force characters are here along with some of my ALL time favorite Masters & Mercenaries characters too. In this heart-thumping story, things pick up pretty much where things left off for Sadie and Chase from Justice For Milena. But I think things get a bit more heated in a very sensual and most delightful way all while things increase from the danger to Sadie, Chase, the Delta heroes with some of our Masters & Mercenaries heroes come together with a force that I swore made my knees weak and my heart melt, made my stomach swoop and dive and made me want to see EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM together MORE in the future. Susan Stoker brings her signature touch with Rescuing Sadie but with some of our crossover heroes thrown in the mix, there was even sexier and action-packed flair that was ALLURING as ALL GET OUT. This is one INSANELY GOOD READ…like drop what your reading and pick up Rescuing Sadie TODAY and dive into an adventure that will have you scrambling for more.
Rescuing Sadie gets a SUPERB FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
Rescuing Sadie, is another awesome
book by Susan Stoker.
It is a steamy, funny, & emotional story.
Chase & Sadie’s connection is undeniable. They met when he rescued her from the girl’s home. Sadie had been held captive by a psycho pedophile, & now he wants her back. Chase has vowed to protect Sadie, no matter what.
I loved catching up with some of
the guys we love, & their women.
And, no book would be complete,
without Annie!
Hold on, there’s lots of twists, & turns.
I enjoyed this so much, I could not put
it down.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Awesome! Loved the tie in to a character if you have been keeping up with the Delta Force Heroes series.
This is a voluntary review and I do not get paid for this review.
After helping to bring down a child slavery ring, Sadie Jennings finds herself being stalked by one of the perpetrators. She’s used to being protected and around alpha males as the niece of Sean Taggart, but she doesn’t quite how to take being saddled with the devastatingly handsome Captain Chase Jackson for weeks on end as others search for the threat, especially when he treats her like a roommate rather than an attractive woman.
Chase Jackson knew Sadie was special from the moment he helped rescue her at the child slavery bust. When he finds out that the threat to her still exists, he immediately volunteers as her bodyguard. He’s made a promise to her uncles that he will keep her safe, but as the threat catches up with them it’s going to take every skill he has to keep that promise, even with the help of a Delta Force team at his back. He also has to convince her that she’s much more than just a roommate to him, she is his.
While part of the Lexi Blake Crossover Collection, fans of Susan Stoker will note that Rescuing Sadie picks up right where Justice for Milena ended. Milena’s threat is gone, but Sadie’s is just getting started. If you have not read, Justice for Milena, this book can still be read and enjoyed, but it is definitely enhanced for those who have the back story.
I love that Sadie Jennings is no wilting wallflower. She’s smart and tough, but she’s also willing to admit when she needs protecting. Chase Jackson is a battle hardened soldier. He has seen enough to understand just how evil and real teh treat tracking Sadie is. While he is alpha, he is also very understanding of her needs and doesn’t just lock her away to keep her safe.
I loved that we got to visit with our favorite Delta Force heroes in this book as well as the precocious little Annie, who is always a favorite of mine when she pops up throughout Susan’s stories. Susan also drops one heck of an Easter Egg in this book for fans that will have an aha moment that drops your jaw and fighting back tears!
Rescuing Sadie is action packed from start to finish. It’s also an incredible romance between Chase and Sadie. Both have baggage they are dragging along with them that only one another can ease and fix. Susan did a phenomenal job of bringing her world together with Lexi’s. 5 stars!
A must read. Fantastic cross-over book
Wow!! Susan Stoker you nailed this cross-over story. The way you integrated your Badge of Honour, Delta Force Heros & Lexi Blake’s McKay-Taggart stories was very entertaining. I especially enjoyed the link to Fish’s story. As usual there is a vulnerable but strong heroine & a bossy, loyal alpha male. If you haven’t read Susan’s stories, you need to. Justice for Milena is the lead up story for this one.
Chase Jackson serves in the US Army in counter-intelligence (he’s also the brother to Rayne from Susan Stoker’s Rescuing Rayne). Sadie Jennings is the niece of Sean Taggart from Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series, she worked and McKay-Taggart and is being stalked by a pedophile. Chase is just as alpha as any of the Delta Force guys (but only for Sophie), Sadie is a kick-a$$, strong, independent woman who knows the value of a good alpha. I loved them both.
They meet under less than auspicious circumstances and fall hard and fast. I loved the story-line/plot and the writing is fantastic (as always). Annis is of course a highlight of any Delta Force Heroes book, and seeing Sean Taggart from the Masters and Mercenaries series was a real treat too. Another wonderful book by Susan Stoker!
4 Star Review of Rescuing Sadie by Susan Stoker
This is part of the current Lexi Blake Crossover Collection and written by Susan Stoker an author I am familiar with. I am a huge fan of Lexi Blake and happily admit that the Master & Mercenaries series is one of my all time favourite series.
When I first started reading Rescuing Sadie I was rather confused as I felt that there was a whole back story that I had no idea about. Honestly, I felt like I had been dropped into a book half way through it. I subsequently learnt that in fact Sadie featured heavily in Justice For Milena and this book is in my opinion linked heavily to the previous book. Having said that I did enjoy the crossover the story as it was well written. I felt that I would have enjoyed it more if I had know the back story before reading Rescuing Sadie.
Sadie being the niece of Sean Taggart is used to Alpha men who protect their family at all costs. Chase Jackson could almost certainly be a Taggart as he is cut from the same cloth. He is not afraid of a fight and as a Captain in the US Army has known danger on more than one occasion.
The attraction and chemistry between Sadie and Chase is almost off the charts as Chase struggles to protect Sadie from Jonathan Jones. Will danger pull these two apart of will they work together to destroy those who are trying to keep them apart?

Ruthie –
This is part of the Masters & Mercenaries Crossover series that is being released by a number of super talented authors. I am so happy to be reading these books and reviewing them. I am huge M&M fan, and this was another great addition to the series. I am also up to date with the Delta Force Heroes, so got a double treat with this read!
Sadie left Dallas and the reception at the MacKay-Taggart group a while ago, much to the guys’ dismay (even if they wouldn’t admit it) and here we catch up with what she has been doing. And, as it turns out, she is in need of protection herself after being held by one of the perpetrators of a paedophile ring, who is now on the run. As luck would have it, Chase Jackson, one of the Delta Force who rescued her, is most definitely planning on taking care of her – in fact, he is so certain that she is “the one” he intends to never let her go. I love his certainty and his patience (well sort of patience!).
We get to meet up with Ghost and Fletch and their families, and are reminded of the importance of the family you make, especially in times of trouble. And these guys certainly have to suffer through some trouble. I had to stop reading at a couple of points because I needed to catch my breath. I should have trusted Ms. Stoker, because though dramatic, it was just the perfect way to get the result that we all wanted.
Hot, sexy, and certain of their minds and hearts, Chase and Sadie are perfect for each other.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Pedophile ring, stalking, attempted murder
This is a fast-paced book that is absolutely gripping. Sadie is running from breaking open a giant pedophile ring – she has a stalker, Jonathan, who was helping to head the ring. He is a sick man who only wishes to create children to abuse.
Chase is a Delta Force hero, but in his mind, due to some past incidents, he is not feeling very hero like. Despite his reservations of talking about that incident, he feels comfortable with Sadie and reveals all to her.
These two have a chemistry that is undeniable. Chase has to bide his time and show Sadie that he really and truly means what he says. Sadie has to allow herself to be loved and show her vulnerable side.
I really enjoyed this story and am so excited that these crossovers are happening!
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Rescuing Sadie (Delta Force Heroes #7.5) by Susan Stoker to read and review for this tour.
This novella book is a continuation of Susan Stokers Justice for Milena. That story has 2 parts. That one follwed up by this one.
In this story, we see Sadie and Chase trying to find Jonothan (the baddies son from JFM). HE is still obsessed with Sadie…but why?
How do you stop someone with so much hate and sickness inside? You call in the Delta Force team and the Taggerts (who just happen to be, i found out, top of the line assassins). So…with this much fire power behind her, why would Jonothan be so obsessed with her? The reason is GREAT!!!
There is even a moment when Chase and Dane “Fish” Monroe know each other. They are both shocked to find out they Do in fact know each other! That is a GREAT part too.
The ending is..just WOW!! that’s all I can say…W O W ! ! ! ! ! You do NOT see it coming, and how SUsan Stoker writes it will just blow you away!!
I LOVE this Kindle World! This contribution by Susan Stoker combines not only her characters, but also one of her books starts all the problems.
Sadie has been under the protection of Chase Jackson since one of the kidnappers Jonathan, got away during the rescue of her, her friend Milena and Milena’s son. The book opens with her arguing with her Uncle Sean (Taggart), who reminds her she wouldn’t like the protection he and Ian would provide her.
She has a problem though, she feels this attraction to Chase but she really thinks he dislikes her.
Chase on the other hand, is trying very hard to keep his hands to himself. Recognizing that this is not the time to start a romance but knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that this woman is his.
One of the things Chase does is move them into Fletch’s garage apartment, I swear everyone stays there at some point, it’s become a very safe and handy refuge.
It’s great to see Ghost and Rayne, Fletch, Emily and Annie. I love Annie and her introduction to Sadie is priceless. Smart and precocious she brightens every book she’s in.
However, all is not fun and games what with Jonathan still out there and a first encounter doesn’t end well.
Chase gets quite the surprise at the barbeque get together with the folks mentioned above. It had me in tears, you’ll love it!
As usual, our heroine doesn’t get off easily, I love the strong determined women Susan creates.
A page turning, hold onto your seat, grab some tissues, sexy and satisfying conclusion to the story begun in Justice for Milena!
This is the first book by Susan Stoker that I’ve read. I have to admit, I really enjoyed it. Sadie and Chase were a great couple that fit well together. I enjoyed the familial feel of the book as well as the abundant action. The book was well written, and kept me entertained. However, while the author did a pretty good job providing the back story, it kind of felt like I started reading in the middle of the story. This doesn’t feel like a stand alone, instead it feels like I should have read Milena’s story first.
***5 Stars***
This novella definitely packs a punch!
It had all the goodness I’ve come to expect from the author all wrapped up in a nice little bundle: sassy and strong women, hot Alpha AF males and a nice little touch of cray cray that even surprised me, but kept me turning the pages until the very end.
I adored Chase and Sadie, I did. Chase is all kinds of Alpha AF male: Protective, honest and honorable. I loved how upfront he was with Sadie, even when she doubted him, and never wavered once. Sadie is one tough woman. She sassy, independent and yet knows when to accept help when it’s offered. What she went through would have broken most people, and while it has left its mark on her, she’s picked herself up and is working through it. Their journey to their HEA was a fun one. It is slow burn that is filled with a lot of sexual tension (that once it broke it was all kinds of hotness!), but considering the situation they found themselves in it totally worked. I enjoyed watching them open up to each other and found one of their disagreements to be quite interesting, and loved where they were at in the end.
This really was a fun read and it can be read as a standalone even though it is tied to the events that happen in Justice for Milena. The author does a great job at getting you caught up with that situation so you can understand Sadie’s role in it. But I must admit that part of my enjoyment of this book was that it was set in the Delta Force Heroes world and getting to hang out with some of the characters from it was a lot of fun. DFH was my introduction to the author and is my favorite of her series.
So, if you’re looking for a fun, quick read with great characters then this is a must read!

Sadie Jennings is the niece of Sean and Grace Taggart from Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series. Sadie is used to domineering men and the strong women who fearlessly love those men. Sadie works for her uncles at McKay-Taggart and has no trouble putting many overbearing Doms in their place back in Dallas, but the moment she literally runs into Chase Jackson she isn’t herself. The confident woman she once was doesn’t know how to act around him. He unnerves her. Not in a bad way, but in a way that makes her yearn. Her life is back in Dallas, and once they catch the crazy psycho who is after her, she has no right to want a man who is settled and comfortable in San Antonio. So why can’t she stop her feelings from evolving for the sexy Captain?
Chase Jackson knew the moment he met Sadie that she was his. He couldn’t begin to understand how he knew, he just did. The thought of her in danger unsettled him every moment of the day and he wouldn’t rest until Jonathan was caught or killed. The man had tried to kidnap and rape Sadie once, and Chase would do everything in his power to make sure that she was never harmed again. With the help of the Deltas at his back and McKay-Taggart if needed, Chase knew he basically had an army at his disposal, then once danger was officially out of the way he could make Sadie his forever.
Rescuing Sadie was everything I’d hoped for. Susan Stoker merged the two worlds of Delta Teams and Masters and Mercs together beautifully. For anyone who is a fan of either series you will find a reason to enjoy this novella.
Sweet, precocious Annie is back from the Delta Force novels and her insight into love and relationships is amazing. And someone correct me, but is Annie just a pint size Ian Taggart? It’s no wonder I love her because Ian is my favorite giant man-child in Masters and Mercs.
RESCUING SADIE is instalment 7.5 in Susan Stoker’s contemporary, adult DELTA FORCE HEROES romantic, suspense series, and crosses over with Lexi Blake’s Master and Mercenaries series. RESCUING SADIE is also part of the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights anthology series. This is twenty-seven year old US Army captain Chase Jackson, and twenty-five year old McKay-Taggart receptionist Sadie Jenning’s story line. We were first introduced to Sadie and Chase in Justice for Milena (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes by Susan Stoker). Sadie is Sean Taggart’s niece-Ian and Sean Taggart can be found in Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series.
SOME BACKGROUND: Working at the Bexar County School and Orphanage for Girls, Milena Reinhardt (Justice for Milena) and Sadie Jennings found themselves captive and imprisoned by proprietors Jeremiah and Jonathan Jones- a father and son duo, pedophiles h*ll bent on spawning their own harem of useful children. Milena and Sadie were rescued but Jeremiah and Jonathan escaped into the unknown.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Sadie and Chase) RESCUING SADIE focuses on the continuing protection of Sadie Jennings-a young woman who is being stalked by a sexual deviant. Sadie, the niece of security specialist Sean Taggart, is taken into protective custody where her safety and security is overseen by former members of the US military. Enter US Army Captain Chase Jackson, and the man with whom Sadie will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Chase and Sadie, and struggle to stay one step ahead of a psychopath determined to make Sadie his own.
RESCUING SADIE is an action-packed, edgy, suspenseful and energetic story as Sadie’s safety and lives of the men and women of the Delta Force heroes are threatened by a sadistic mind. Jonathan Jones is desperate to reacquire Sadie for his twisted plans, and will stop at nothing to reclaim Sadie as his own.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including a number of previous story line couples introduced in the authors Delta Force Heroes including Fletcher, Emily and their precocious daughter Annie. Chase Jackson will soon discover that he is no longer the lone survivor of a mission that went all to h*ll; and Fletcher’s compound is not as secure as he had hoped it to be.
The relationship between Chase and Sadie is one of immediate attraction. Chase knows Sadie is his happily ever after, and claims ‘ownership’ of the woman within days of her rescue but Sadie refuses to become of the McKay-Taggart’s overprotected clients. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
RESCUING SADIE is a quick read; a novella length story line that sees another Delta Force Hero rescuing the woman that he loves. The premise is thrilling and engaging; the romance is intimate; the characters are spirited, sassy and animated.
