Sadie Jennings was used to being protected. As the niece of Sean Taggart, and the receptionist at McKay-Taggart Group, she was constantly surrounded by Alpha men more than capable, and willing, to lay down their life for her. But when she visits her friend in San Antonio, and acts on suspicious activity at Milena’s workplace, Sadie puts both of them in the crosshairs of a madman. After several … harrowing weeks, her friend is now safe, but for Sadie, the repercussions of her rash act linger on.
Chase Jackson, no stranger to dangerous situations as a captain in the US Army, has volunteered himself as Sadie’s bodyguard. He fell head over heels for the beautiful woman the first time he laid eyes on her. With a Delta Force team at his back, he reassures the Taggart’s that Sadie will be safe. But when the situation in San Antonio catches up with her, Chase has to use everything he’s learned over his career to keep his promise…and to keep Sadie alive long enough to officially make her his.

I haven’t read Lexi Blake so I don’t know her characters, but I certainly recognised Susan’s. Sadie is in danger, her kidnapper is not going to give up until she’s his. Chase Jackson is going to do everything in his power to keep her safe. Lots of action, sizzling romantic moments and engaging characters kept me glued to my kindle. I think I need to go back and read some former books as there were gaps in this story, but in saying that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This book crossed into a couple of SS series and tied them together so well.
I had been wondering how Fletch’s house got destroyed and this answered that too…
An exciting yet romance filled storyline takes us on a journey with Sadie (Milena’s friend from the Badge of Honour series) and Rayners brother (Delta force heroes series)
One missing beat for me was that it was strongly implied (well pretty much stated) throughout that Chase was dominant, yet this came over simply as bossy and domineering most of the time. He very much treated Sadie as a child in a lot of ways so I struggled to get through this one which is highly unusual for me as I devour SS books and can sometimes go straight back to the beginning and go again. This one might remain on the shelf for a while for me.
“Rescuing Sadie” is book 7.5 in the Delta Force Heroes series and is a Masters & Mercenaries Crossover book. It was a good book but sometimes I felt a little lost. It is the story of Chase Jackson, Raynes brother from the Delta Force Heroes series and Sadie Jennings. It was a great addition to the series.
Sadie’s story is action packed. Continuing on where we left Milena’s story, Sadie is being hunted by one of the paedophile’s involved in a recent orphanage scandal.
Chase is in love with Sadie and vows to keeper safe. It all comes to a crazy, loud and bloody conclusion.
Sadie has always had protectors to look out for her, but when she helped Milena with a work place situation she was brought into the middle of it. Chase is sent to protect her, he is a Captain in the Army, and Sean (her uncle) trusts him to protect her. When the madman comes after Sadie things het hairy. Lots of action and steam and HEA.
Wow what an explosive story. I loved the complete “all in no matter what” attitude of Chase. Throw in learning someone else survived. Sadie and Chase are such a lovely couple.
I automatically grab anything with Susan Stoker’s name on it. Her books never let me down and always leave me with a smile on my face. This book was no exception.
I love all of the Delta Force heroes. They just get better and better.
I look forward to reading more of the books in this series.
Suspense and romance
I’ve read one book from this author before so I knew this would be intense, suspenseful and romantic. I loved it.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
The storyline is good and I enjoyed the ending.
I’m curious about the secondary characters and their stories so I will read moe of her books to get to know them.
This is a crossover series and each book can be read as a standalone.
I recommend this book 5 stars.
This has been my favorite of the Lexi Blake crossover collection so far, though I do still have two to read. But Rescuing Sadie was a breath of fresh air compared to the others. It’s also my first book by Susan Stoker, and definitely not my last. From the first page Chase managed to get his hooks into me. Just like that. I didn’t need a lengthy back story, or character build up. From page one, you knew he was a sexy alpha hero, it came across loud and clear. Sadie was just as well written. A lot of times the heroine is written to be a damsel in distress, who is a little whiny, and a whole lot of wanna be alpha female who is really just obnoxious. Not Sadie, thank goodness. It’s so rare to read a female lead who I don’t want to choke for being a useless bitch. I’m glad Sadie got her HEA, and I can’t wait to dig into this world.
Edit 01/18/2020:
The first time I read Rescuing Sadie it was as part of the Masters and Mercenaries series and Susan Stoker was a new to me author. This time I read it as part of the Delta Force series. I still love Chase, he’s an amazing character, Sadie too. But I was a little shocked when I noticed that this book was next in the series because nothing with Sadie, Melina or the school happened yet. Turns out that it doesn’t even take place in the Delta Force series. I think it’s a tad bit odd to do it that way. Because of that I didn’t really gain much in the Delta Force world with this story. Of course now I know who Ghost, Rayne, Fletch and Emily are, but that’s it. Well and it turns out I still don’t like Rayne. I loved her in her book, but every other appearance she has been obnoxious. This book is no different.
Ultimately I’m glad I did the reread, but I just wish it had to do more with the Delta world, if that makes sense.
This is a crossover story with ‘Mastrrs & Mercenaries’ series and with Susan Stokers Badge of Courage series book ‘Justice For Milena’. I high recommend reading Milenas story first as it is more of a prequel and Sadie is a main character. I tried listening without first hearing Milena and was just confused. This story continues Sadie’s story where that one left off.
Though this story is shorter than Susan’s typical story it still contains a wallop. We first see Chase in Rescuing Rayne. He is Rayne’s brother. That is just another reason I like series, one big family. He shows himself to be as Alpha protective as the others even then. This story and Chase as also has a tie in with ‘Rescuing Bryn’. I was amazed & delighted when that came out. There are a lot of tidbits of other story in this one.
What could be better than a Masters and Mercenaries crossover book? Answer….nothing. Susan Stoker skillfully incorporates Taggart family members into Rescuing Sadie. Sadie Jennings and Chase Jackson are the main players in this highly charged romantic suspense. They both are dealing deeply emotional issues from their past but their intense chemistry allows them to move past them and into the loving relationship they both deserve.
I have been slowing going through books by Susan Stoker and I have not read a bad one yet! After reading Justice for Milena I knew I needed to know what happened to Sadie, so I was really excited when I saw this book was available in the Audible Romance package. Once I started this audio, I could not stop! The narrator, Stella Bloom, was very good. I learned that she also narrated KA’s Rock Chicks so that made it really fun.
Rescuing Sadie is a novella but it still packed a punch. This story pretty much starts right after Justice for Milena. Jonathan, one of the sadistic pedophiles gets away after Milena and Sadie are rescued and he is not done with Sadie. Chase knew from the first moment that Sadie was the one for him so he took it upon himself to protect her. He was going to do whatever he had to to keep her safe. Unfortunately, Sadie, misunderstanding his concern for her, initially thought he didn’t want anything to do with her and she is keeping something from Chase so she tried to keep him at arm’s length. My heart hurt for Sadie and her reason for not wanting to tell Chase what really happened while she was held captive by Jonathon. But thank goodness for Chase’s resolve to have Sadie as his own.
I also really loved all the secondary characters, I have not had a chance to read Rescuing Rayne (its on my TBR pile), which is Chase’s sister’s story and I am really interested in Fish’s story too in Rescuing Bryn. I loved how so many series’ intersect!
All in all a great book and looking forward to continuing on with this series and all the many other ones.
What a fun crossover book!! You get a taste of M&M mixed in with Susan’s world.
Sadie and Chase met in a book in Susan’s world and now we are dealing the fallout for Sadie from it. She has a scary man who is after her and there is one man who will do whatever he can to put himself between the him and Sadie.
I liked that Sadie was able to stand up to Chase being he was this alpha man who is use to people taking orders from him but yet she also understood that this is who he is. That sometimes things he says comes across as bossy but its because he is scared.
Lots of action and
I cannot believe that this is the last book in the Crossover Collection (sheds a few tears) and also why has it taken me this long to read a Susan Stoker book. Chase and Sadie’s story will have you captivated from the first page and this pair will also steal your heart. We have met Sadie along the way with her being the niece to Sean Taggart and also working for McKay-Taggart. Sadie shows us that not only are the men built tough in the Masters and Mercenaries series but the women are too. Captain Chase Jackson has been given the duty to protect Sadie from a seriously evil man but he also wants to own her heart and soul because the minute he held her in his arms she had stolen his. Rescuing Sadie is full of suspense, drama and angst. As these two realize that there is no way that a connection like they have should be ignored, it will take sharing secrets that lay heavily on their souls for them to realize just what they have. An absolutely fantastic book to finish this collection on and also the wake up call I needed to one click some more of these Delta Force Heroes.
Love all her books! You won’t be disappointed when you read her books. Seriously – it is hard for me to put them down and go to sleep b/c I have to work the next day! She is an awesome writer!!!!
Great crossover.
This is part of the Lexie Blake cross over collection. Although you can read it as a standalone I really think it would be b which gives more details about the situation the heroine ietter if you read the other book associated with this book. Susan Stoker wrote Justice for Milena that gives more background about the situation in this book. I read everything by Susan Stoker so I highly recommend this one.
I was really looking forward to Sadie’s story, but I was a bit disappointed to realize that she and Chase actually met and had some backstory in one of the author’s previous books. The basics of their situation were explained in this book, but I felt like I really needed to read the prior story in order to fully appreciate where this one picked up.
Despite that, I still enjoyed Chase and Sadie! He is all alpha but without the jerk-ish tendencies that can be off-putting to me. Sadie is a great mix of vulnerability and strength after her ordeal as she slowly works through the emotional aftermath and faces the reality that a madman is still out there trying to kidnap her. Rescuing Sadie had plenty of action, suspense, steam and emotion, and I will definitely be picking up this author’s other books in the future.
She did it again….Susan writes page turners and all nighters.
