What a GREAT ride!! We’ve watched Truck & Mary’s relationship throughout this series, and getting their ins & outs this way was perfect. There is SO MUCH to this story – so much Truck & Mary, special moments w/ Annie, and the most amazing epilogue where we get to catch up with ALL our couples – and of course get a sneak peek into some future stories.
This story definitely does justice to a favorite couple, and the team as a whole. Thumbs way up!! (I have so much more I want to gush about, but there are spoiler bombs everywhere, so I’m just gonna say – read this! Read it & ENJOY!) : )
Great ending to the Deltas. Totally worth the wait for Truck and Mary. Loved the epilogue and the sneaks at future stories .
Susan outdid herself this time. I recomend for everyone to read this book !
I freaking loved this book!!!! I love all of Susan’s books but this one just rocked my world. I laughed I cried I laughed I cried. It was great
I just finished reading this book and it was awesome from beginning to end.
The story was amazing. I laughed, cried, and cheered all while reading this book. It was an emotional journey bringing up tackling breast cancer and how women fell less than woman. Ms Stoker captured the agony of this process for those close to the patient as well.
This story is also a beautiful romance.
I loved reading the extras at the end.
When a Susan Stoker book becomes available I buy it. I am very seldom disappointed.
I can’t wait to read more from Ms Stoker.
Mary has had a rough life. Her childhood was filled with men coming and going from her mother’s life, she has a hard time trusting men, and fighting an illness. Truck is a member of Delta Force and has wanted Mary since the moment they met. They obstacles that get in their way almost break them apart but Truck will fight tooth and nail for the woman he loves.
This is a hard review to write because I don’t want to give anything away. Secrets, romance, second chances, and good friends. Some have said they cried so you might need tissues. I loved this story and hated for it to end.
If you haven’t read Rescuing Rayne, go read it first. It will help you understand this book better. I have read the entire series from the beginning so this is the story I’ve long awaited.
Truck and Mary’s secret wedding has been exposed. Everyone was angry but Rayne was more than that she feels totally betrayed. The guys have already had it out, the women have taken sides and everything is a mess.
We learn Mary’s backstory in this book, have the tissues ready, keep them at your side, you will need them for this and so much more.
If you’ve been following this story you know that Mary has now battled breast cancer twice. This second time is when she and Truck got married. He insisted on it so she would have his insurance for the battle. For Truck, it was also because he loves her and whether she will admit it or not Mary loves him too. We’ve all seen it and felt it in the previous books. Now it’s time to learn everything about these two.
The thing is, while they have slept together there has been nothing physical happening. Truck is ready to take this relationship to the next level, but Mary needs to make that decision.
Mary is missing her best friend, so when Rayne comes into the bank with Emily and Casey she takes the opportunity to start the conversation they need to have.
Then all hell breaks loose while they are in the break room.
Now you would think a bank robbery would be enough excitement for one book, but no. Susan takes us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as the guys head off for a mission and return.
I really can’t say much without revealing things better read. Just know that Truck’s past and Mary’s, combined with the telling of her treatments, detailed in a way that only Susan can, will pull on your heartstrings.
Even though I had to put this book down several times for tears invoked, there’s plenty of laughter and love in this book too.
The epilogue takes us into the future for each of the couples, a truly fitting end to this wonderful series. Thank you for this journey Susan.
AN AMAZING, EMOTIONAL, STUNNING AND MOST EPIC ROMANCE STORY YET FROM SUSAN STOKER! I have been waiting for this book for a LOOOONG TIME now and WOW…I wasn’t in the LEAST bit disappointed. It was INCREDIBLE and had my emotions all over the place and finally getting to know why Mary is the way she is brought tears to my eyes. And Truck…OMG BEST. HERO. EVER. I SWOONED with this book SO HARD. I can’t wait to read this whole series AGAIN from the very beginning. You seriously do NOT want to miss this book!
This book was a terrific read. Mary and “Truck” really are two lost souls. The way they got together is quite interesting. So many things happened to tear them apart, but they stayed together. After what happened to
Truck, I really wondered if they could keep it together. No spoilers, you will just have to read the book. Well worth it and Susan Stoker is the best at these books.
Rescuing Mary has to be Susan Stoker’s most anticipated book. Not only is it the conclusion to her Delta Force Heroes series (although there might be one more snuck in), it finally tells the story of Mary and Truck, who have been dancing around each other since the first time they met in Rescuing Rayne. In previous books, Ms Stoker has offered peeks into their relationship, a complicated one, to say the least. Now it’s their turn and in true Stoker style, the road to “happily ever after” is a long and bumpy one. Be assured, though, the end is definitely worth the ride. Thank you, Susan Stoker, for bringing these heroes and their heroines to life.
I was a little worried going in since my anticipation was so high.
They were already married.
We knew he loved her.
Would she be the same sarcastic bitchy person through most of the book?
What could the author possibly do to turn this into one of her great reads?
Well, Susan Stoker did a phenomenal job of turning this into yet another five star read. Tears, tears and more tears a very emotional journey with a H/h that have captured my heart.
I have faithfully read several series by different authors and some have ended OK others not so much; this is the PERFECT ending to a great series.
I have been waiting for this book for ages and now I have read it I am sad it’s finished. Truck has always been a man after my own heart with his love, protectiveness and how he fiercely cares for people. I was in years as I read Mary’s prologue, I was awwwww at some of the tender moments, I cried again when her diary was read and I laughed at some of the things that were said by Mary. Mary is unable to know what love is after her mom kept telling her men were useless so as she grew up she started to believe it. Then her illness came along………twice and sweet Truck did an honourable thing and married her. As we continue to read the book we read about their relationship, the ups and downs and Mary’s past problems. When Truck has an accident on a mission, will he and Mary be able to move forward together? Can she get the HEA she deserves?
Wow!! Rescuing Mary is so worth the wait!
Truck & Mary’s relationship & story has always peeked my interest.
It is an amazing book!! It’s everything & more, that you look for in Susan Stoker’s books!! And no story is complete without Annie!
MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
It was a long time coming for Mary and Truck’s story. I have loved every single one of Susan’s books in this series. Hunkering down with Mary and Truck’s story was a perfect experience. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this book and the whole series. Truck is my favorite Hero of all time. I love this fictional man. This story took me on the most magical fantastic ride. Susan’s writing of their story and the included epilogues were pure magic. I have so much love for these stories and characters. Thank you Susan for the most perfect of rides.
This book, WOW! Really, because of seeing the interactions between Truck and Mary in previous books, I expected a lot from this book and Susan Stoker totally blew those expectations out of the water. I laughed, I cried, I was happy, I was gutted, I was every emotion imaginable and then some. Susan Stoker doesn’t shy away from tough topics, and cancer is certainly that, and she handled Mary’s feelings in such an amazing way. And then the injury Truck gets on a mission that has to be handled with care. And of course all those Alpha Males thinking they know best! I think this is one of the best books I’ve ever read.
I was seriously predisposed to really not like Mary AT ALL, but oh my goodness is she redeemed in this book. We get her backstory and her thinking (flawed as it was in some situations) makes everything clearer about her attitudes and makes her so much so much lovable. Truck is phenomenal as always, but we get a lot if his backstory as well and I fell even more in love with him. There were definitely some rip your heart out moments, Annie as always is engaging and FABULOUS! The rest of the guys and their women really show their characters and strengths. I loved meeting the “new” Delta team. The epilogues are FREAKING FANTASTIC!! I so want Annie’s story. The plot is wonderful and the writing drew me in from the very fist sentence. Phenomenal story Susan Stoker!
Rescuing Mary (Delta Force Heroes Book 9)
by Susan Stoker
5 Stars
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. Susan Stoker has completed the DFH Series with a BANG. There is so much I want to say about this book. If you are like most of the SS fan club this has been a MUCH ANTICIPATED release. We’ve been asking for years for this story and now it’s finally here. A friend of mine did a review of another SS book and kind of likened it to a Target Run. You go knowing you need one thing yet end up leaving the store $100 poorer going, WTH??
For me Rescuing Mary was like my 21st birthday, Christmas and my wedding day all rolled into one. So excited for the day to arrive and when it did it was nothing but FEELS. Susan Stoker is such an amazing writer and she proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt with this book. You get to go back and visit with old friends. You get to meet new characters (that you know will come to life in a new book) and you get to finally read the tale about two beloved characters. Know this…tears are inevitable but the love, joy, and wonder from the book offset them.
Yes, this is the final book to the series. But I’m not sad. We all know that somehow Susan Stoker will keep these characters alive and intersperse them throughout other series. While highly anticipated Ms. Stoker does a fabulous job keeping true to her writing style and fans and producing an epic story. Yes, it was a LONG LONG LONG wait but it was worth it. Thank you Susan Stoker for this book. A.S.H. love you too. Beautiful story from a beautiful writer. Now I’m going to dive back in.
How does one give a review that deserves more then a 5 star review.
Susan Stoker you did it again, I love all of your stories that you have write, but Mary and Truck’s story is by far one of my favorite stories.
We do get to find out many things about both of them, the need to know why Mary was the way she was, was answered and it endeared her more to me when I found out the reason.
And Truck, jeez that man could melt an ice berg, he is as his teammates are a great definition of Alpha male.
Just when things are looking great for Ford “Truck” Laughlin and Mary Weston, things take a turn where you did not think it would. Will they weather this one more obstacle, you will have to read it to find out.
The characters are all there, the ones we have come to love and care for. And even at the end of the story Susan keeps going and showing us that the love they have will outlast all.
Am not good at writing reviews, but Susan you have made me cry and laugh through all the words write in this boo. So thank you for a wonderful love story.
This is going to be such a hard review to leave. Mainly because there is so much in this story and I don’t wanna give anything away.
This is Delta Force Heroes #9, Truck and Mary’s story. Truck has been my BH since Rescuing Rayne. I was so worried about what Susan Stoker would do with this story. Would she do my most favorite character justice? Would that “woman” (Mary) be deserving of such a great man?
Well, Susan Stoker blew this story out of the water!!
There was so much of everything in this book: friendship, killer boobies, marriage, bombs, injury, love, parties, futuristic epilogues of all of the characters (like in the final Seals of Protection book), and meeting the next Delta Team! (I’ve already “claimed” my new BH ~ Bwahahahahaha).
This book comes with feels, laughs, oh no she didn’ts, and every single thing inbewteen.
So…
Will Mary finally be deserving of Truck and his unconditional love?
Do they make it past whatever Susan Stoker has come up with to test them? (WOW! It’s a doozy too) he he he
Do they ever get that Quadruple wedding from book 8?? What does that even look like?
Does Annie finally get her baby brother?? or does she have to put up with a freaking, boring sister??
Susan Stoker has teased her readers for two years with the relationship between Truck and Mary. Since Rescuing Rayne, the beginning of the Delta Force Heroes series, she’s been feeding them tidbits of information in each book. These two endearing characters will finally get their happily-ever-after, but it doesn’t come easily.
