Jackson Guard, aka “Ajax,” gave up the woman he was falling for because it had been drilled into his head that being in the Delta Force was the greatest sacrifice he’d ever make. Meeting with “Ghost” and “Truck” from a Texas based Delta Force unit opened his eyes. These men… their entire unit were all happy, in love, some with kids. It gave him hope that he could have it all too. He just has to … to plead his case to the woman whose heart he broke.
Hiilani Ahfong was ready to give everything up for love and follow Jackson where ever he was stationed around the world, but he didn’t just put the brakes on, he left her on the side of the road wondering where she’d gone wrong. Her manager barely managed to hold onto the ‘I told you so’ she so richly deserved and helped her focus her energy on performing and building her career. Now, she’s back on track.<br><br>

A second chance at first love for Jackson and Hi’ilani?
Thank goodness Jack’s commander sends him to meet Ghost and Truck because that man is not supposed to be alone, when he speaks you can hear the pain that he felt when he had to walk away from Hi’ilani and your heart hurts for both of them.
They are very sweet together and have you cheering for them from the moment he takes her hand. Of course the added bonus of Ghost, Rayne, Truck and Mary helps any story and the banter between Train and Baron is very funny, I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Rescuing Hi`ilani by Reina Torres is the first book in her Special Forces: Operation Alpha Delta Force Hawaii series.
I love this book what makes it special is the author takes the time to give a glossary of how to pronounce Hawaiian names. Plus of course this is a second chance story between Jackson Guard and Hi`ilani Ahfong.
Jackson Guard walked away from Hi`ilani a year ago after hearing that be married and a Delta was too hard on both the married and his job. But after his commander gives him an assignment to escort both Ghost, Rayne, Truck and Mary who are vacationing in Hawaii he sees how wrong he was. After spending a evening at the Old Hawaii Theater. Little did he know that he’d be protecting Hi`ilani from danger. Will they be able to rekindle their love while the police search for the men who killed her mentor?
Hi`ilani Ahfong has nursed her broken heart by keeping busy and auditioning. After witnessing the murder of her mentor Mackie she knows that only Jackson can protect her from the men who could harm her because of what she saw. Will they be able to find love again all while trying to find the men who want her silenced?
Truly a second chance book between Jackson and Hi’ilani. He was Delta Force and thought he was doing the right thing by giving her up. It wasn’t until Train, Ghost and there wives who was showing around Hawaii did he realize what a mistake he made. Maybe just maybe he could have what they have. He would try and win her back.
The night of her concert was beautiful, but also turned into something neither expected. She saved her friend and mentors life.
Hi’ilani wasn’t sure why Jackson was there, but she missed him that was for sure. When things went haywire he was there for her.
Buy the book to see what happens between them.
Jackson (Ajax) and Hi’ilani were in love and everything was great until one day he left her. Ajax thought being on Delta Force and having a relationship didn’t mix. This is a sweet, second chance romance filled with heartbreak, forgiveness, action, murder, suspense and so much more. This author writes beautiful stories with believable characters that leaving me wanting to read more.
Loved how the author put us into the Hawaiian culture and using all the Hawaiian words I found very interesting. I was glad that Ajax saw first hand from the delta guy’s and their wife’s that a guy in special forces could have a life outside of his job/ This book was full of danger, suspense, and love.
Loved this story! Could not put it down!
Loved, loved, loved this 2nd chance romance. This book has all of the feels, action packed and steamy romance you could ever ask for. Regina Torres always bring her A Game to the table with her books!!
a great second chance love story with military themes set in hawaii.
Hi’ilani is a local music and dance star who has just gotten a small recurring role in a local network show when she witnesses a crime on the Night when her former delta force boyfriend comes back into her life. can he and his team keep her safe and win her heart?
this story has a great plot, fun characters, tons of emotion, plenty of action and will keep you interested till the very last page.
I received an arc of this story that i happily reviewwd
This was a really enjoyable read. Rescuing Hi’ilani was a great second chance story full of engaging characters, suspense, danger, excitement, romance, a lovely Hawaiian backdrop intertwined with its culture and a sweet HEA.
Jackson (Ajax) Guard gave up the love of his life thinking he was doing the right thing for her. He was Delta Force and it had been drilled into his head that his commitment should be to the team and nothing else – leaving no room for attachments. Yet after meeting with a couple of Delta Force guys from the states at the request of his commander to play tour guide, seeing those two men with their wives – happy and in love – changed things for Ajax on a fundamental level he could not ignore. He made a huge mistake leaving Hi’ilani and he was going to do everything in his power to get her to give him a second chance and show her he was in for the long haul. But first, he had to keep her safe from the killers on her tail.
Hi’ilani Ahfong was a Hawaiian singer and dancer and had been ready to give up everything to follow Jackson wherever his missions led him so they could be together. His abrupt departure from her life was certainly not the plan nor was her broken heart. She had just been getting her life back on track when his reappearance, along with her witnessing her mentor’s murder, derailed everything. Scared and unsure she turned to Jackson and his teammates trusting them to keep her safe. Being sequestered away for her protection gives Ajax the perfect opportunity to plead his case and show her how good it could be if she’d give him a chance.
I loved the fumbling imperfection of Jackson pleading his case and trying to get Hi’ilani to understand his past reasoning along with his hope she’ll give him another chance. It was sweet and hopeful and having part of his team at his back definitely added some fun and humor into the mix. Also adding the glimpses of the Hawaiian culture and surroundings was a nice addition. Great teamwork, wonderful friends, and a second chance love rounded out the story quite nicely. Looking forward to more of the series.
I loved that Rescuing Hi’ilani has character crossovers from Susan Stoker’s Delta Force series. Ghost & Rayne and Truck & Mary are favorites from that series. Rescuing Hi’ilani is a marvelous second chance romance between Hi’ilani Adfong and Jackson “Ajax” Guard. They had something pretty great going until he walked away. How he’s back full of apologies, recriminations and explanations. Dare she trust him? With her life maybe but her heart…perhaps. Witnessing a murder puts Hi’ilani in danger. Ajax and two of his teammates set about protecting her.
This author has written so many stories I’ve loved from sweet Westerns to sexy shifters to sexy contemporary, but I’ve never read one that is about her home state of Hawaii. And this one captured my heart and my mind from the moment I began reading it.
Jackson has been in the service and worked hard to become a part of Delta Force. But, in order to do his job, he’s had to give up some things, too, one of them being Hi’ilani, the only woman he has ever loved. Because of the nature of his job, there are things he would never be able to tell a significant other, parts of his job he’d never be able to discuss. And if he were to be called to duty, his country would always have to come first. He thought he was saving her from heartache.
But when he finally decides to get his act together and face her with the love only she can crush, they end up in the middle of a mystery that has already claimed one life and could easily take hers. In order to keep her from harm, he has to protect her, and he calls in his “brothers” from Delta Force to assist. Will he be able to convince her that he’s willing to give their relationship everything he can, or will she turn away from him, the only man who has ever broken her heart and the one man who could save hers?
Each of the characters she’s written are fun and funny in their own way. There are a few of Hi’ilani’s family members who are especially colorful and had me giggling. I can’t help but to believe that she has to have based some of them on people she’s known. Whatever the formula, it works here, and I truly enjoyed it from beginning to end. And the steamy parts just lended to the story. Other than some problems with sentence structure and punctuation, it was an easy read and didn’t take long at all. I definitely recommend it.
Jackson and Hiilani use to be a couple but then he leaves her because he has been told that a Seal can’t have a life outside of his unit. He can’t afford any distractions. His team depends on him. But Jackson can’t forget about Hiilani. He soon meets Ghost, Rayne , Mary and Truck and he sees how these Seal men and their women have a relationship outside of the unit. He goes to Hiilani and wants to tell her that he still loves her but before he can tell her how he feels she needs his help staying alive. An awesome book by reinna torres. She brings her characters and her storyline to life with such devotion to them.
This is the story of Hiilani and Jackson(Ajax). Jackson still loves Hiilani and wants a second chance. Being part of the Delta Force should not prevent him from having his one true love. Breaking her heart when he joined Delta might. Can Jackson win back Hiilani and keep her safe from the killers? No spoiler here, got to read it to find out. This is a wonderfully sweet love story with lots of action and an HEA! Reina Torres entertains and captivates her readers with this one! You won’t regret reading it!!
Rescuing Hi’ilani by Reina Torres is a surpense full, turn pager. This is the story of Jackson (Ajax) and Hi’ilani. When Jackson joins the Delta Force it is drummed into his head that you can’t have it all, so he walks a way from the woman he loves with all his heart. Only after meeting a couple of men from a Delta Force in Texas and seeing how happy they are with their lady love does he realize maybe he can have it all. Hi’ilani worked hard to put herself back together after the break up and how it starting to pay off. But, when she walk into something she shouldn’t will she let Jackson protect her? Will she open her heart to him again? Can they stop the men trying to stop Hi’lani from talking. If you like surpense, romance, beautiful setting and some sexy, steamy scene then this the book for you. Reina does not disappoint no matter what genre she is writing in.
Love this book
A highly enjoyable reading experience filled with emotional twists and action packed excitement. Was a very fast but very entertaining journey that not only has engaging charters but a interesting inside information about Hawaii and her people. Loved it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance. Hot, romantic, emotional, with enough intrigue to keep the plot moving along at a good pace. The setting is beautifully described, you really get a feel for being in Hawaii. Main and supporting characters pull you in and make it a pleasure to become invested in the story.
Second chance romance set in Hawaii. Good plot, interesting characters, and descriptive scenes. Action, suspense, and a lovely romance. I enjoyed learning about Hawaii. The author provides a glossary which is very helpful.
I loved this story! It was a sweet HEA with some angst but without a lot of violence, blood and guts. The characters were strong and still exhibited humor. I was impressed with a “macho man” who had heart and was smart enough to apologize for making the wrong choice. Now I want to read about Train and Baron.
Thank you, Reina, for a little bit Hawaii.
This book was gifted to me by the other in return for an honest review.
Rescuing Hi’ilani is set in Hawaii and I loved how Reina incorporated the Hawaiian culture and mannerisms, even teaching us and the other Haole how to read and speak like a local.
In the book we meet Hi’ilani who loved by everyone in her community, she is a great singer, dancer and going on to TV-stardom, but the one person she wants to love left her brokenhearted.
It has been drilled into Jackson Guard’s head that being an Army Delta Team leader means that he can’t have a family. With her protection in mind Jackson leaves Hi’ilani and himself devastated. Only after meeting other Delta members that have embraced being married and raising a family through the perils of Army Delta life does Jackson believe he can offer Hi’ilani a future she deserves – but will she still have him?
I enjoyed the story and the setting, but I wished for a bit more background info on the couple and other Delta Team members and more character development. Nether the less the story was entertaining and enjoyable.
I was sent this ARC by the author in exchange for a spoiler free honest review.
