Amy Wallace has made plenty of mistakes in her young life, but she didn’t see this one coming. Chris Seger is a marine serving in Afghanistan. His life is forever altered by a single, fateful step. A mother of another Afghan war vet suffers a devastating loss, which changes the course of Finley’s life for good. Finley is a mostly golden retriever, who suddenly finds himself alone and confused in … in a dog shelter. Could this prison actually become the place where Finley finally finds freedom? Rescuing Finley tells the story of how one rescue dog powerfully impacts three tragic lives and puts all of them on a road toward redemption and healing.
Dan Walsh is known for page-turning, character driven novels. Fans of Dan’s other novels, as well as dog-lovers everywhere will especially enjoy Rescuing Finley.

I hope this program actually exists. This is such a heart warming example of assisting people suffering from ptsd.
I really liked it and hated to put it down…
It was an interesting approach to include Finley’s thoughts in the narrative. I found it entertaining and a fun addition to the story. You will enjoy this book!
This book was extremely well written. It addressed difficult issues and circumstances and proved how good can come out of the worst possible scenarios. The characters were amazing! I would highly recommend this book!!
What a lovely story. The characters are special and the story is really great. A beautiful book to read.
I really enjoyed this book. PTSD is so relevant to so many people these days, it is wonderful to know that our four legged friends can help! It gave a good review of that, dealt with other human mistakes and overcoming them with a good romance involved. Can’t wait to read the sequel.
No profanity. I loved the story line and the characters.
Such a sweet story
I loved this book, only I didn’t want the young man to die and leave his dog. Was glad the dog was rescued and found a good home. The story line was excellent and I read it in just a couple of days.
I’m a pushover for a dog story anytime. Meeting Finley was such fun and oh so sweet.
I did enjoy reading this but found it to be predictable and NICE. Everything turned out perfect. How not like life. However, I was happy for Finley and I did enjoy learning a little bit about “dog-behavior”. I also was pleased to read about programs to get dogs to Vets for their PTSD. Don’t expect anything deep but if you want a light story to read ~ you will enjoy it.
Inspiring story. Although the ‘mother’ seemed to be the villain in the beginning, in the end she was just another person dealing with tragedy as best she could. If the writing was a little bit simplistic, it made for a quick, easy read that drew you into the characters of Amy and Chris and, of course, Finley.
I enjoyed this book.
Liked it enough to order Finding Riley as soon as I turned the last page.
A good read, however too predictable for me.
Dog lovers should read this! Inspiring!!
loved this book, want to read more by the same author.
