A Manhattan businessman on a December vacation to Canada, is stuck in Boston due to a snowstorm. Instead of waiting for another flight, he drives through the Vermont woods. Forced off the road, his rental ends up in a pond. When a firefighter sliding down the muddy slope to help him slams into him instead, his papers go flying and his phone disappears. Before he can complain, his mud-covered … rescuer in firefighting bunker gear is a woman!
After a fire, her injured dad heads to the hospital and hands responsibility for the fire department to her. As acting Fire Chief, Elinor Danville offers the stranded stranger a ride. When she drops him at the Peabody Inn, Ellie explains that Snowflake Valley has no rental cars, taxis, or 5-star hotels Something about this suit-wearing rich guy grates on her nerves, but intrigues her. Ellie’s dad is fire chief. When he’s injured while fighting a fire, he names her as the acting chief. Some of the volunteers are not happy about that, and refuse to give her the respect she deserves. Bradley is headed for Montreal, but when snow closes the airport, he decides to drive from Boston. One little problem – he’s a rich guy used to riding in limos, and he hits a patch of black ice and has a little run-in with a fire truck, ending up in a muddy ditch. He’s also used to living and working in a big city, and the amenities in his life just aren’t available in this small town. He’s attracted to Ellie, but the feeling is not reciprocal. She is being nice to him, though, in hopes that he won’t sue the city. Snowflake Valley is preparing for their annual Christmas festival, but they desperately need snow for it to be successful. Everyone on town has been so nice, and he’d like to help out, but she finds fault in everything he does. This was a nice story, easy to read, with characters that are genuinely nice and likable (except for Sean), and a happy ending.

A sweet Christmas read. I love strong women and Elinor, acting Chief for the fire department has to be just that. Resentment over her leadership slips through. When she is called to rescue a traveler from one of her own trucks, she sets all kinds of interactions in motion. Bradley, usually all business, gets thrown off course by the small town fire department and its only female. Enjoy this holiday read and wait for the snow.
As a rich CEO of his own New York City company he is always working until his assistant demands he takes a break for the holidays. He heads toward Canada & his flight is grounded in Boston due to weather. He rents a car and is run of a back country road into a pond by a fire truck. His rescuer is an interesting woman that he finds himself attracted to, but she refuses to show interest by pushing him away every time they get close. She feels he will be leaving and she has seen too many of her loved ones hurt by men. He continues to do things behind her back that he knows she will like, but also knowing she doesn’t care for his wealth. Read the book to enjoy all the things she sees and misreads and how they finally have their HEA.

This is a sweet small town holiday romance between Ellie and Bradley. Their characters are strong ,well developed and likable and the story flows fluidly. A romance develops even as they deal with some drama, misunderstandings and the towns Christmas Festival. It’s an entertaining story with a sweet romance , is well written with detailed scenes and I enjoyed reading.
