When you’re a Delta Force soldier, you see a lot. Often too much. But nothing can ever prepare you to see your entire team die before your eyes… Hartwell cares. In fact, she tries to surreptitiously make life just a little easier for the mysterious man who comes into the grocery where she works late at night, only to get a tongue lashing for her trouble. Still, he’s obviously hurting; someone has to worry about him, spurring Bryn to nurse Dane when he hits a particularly low point.
Intrigued by the quirky, kind, socially awkward woman, Dane allows himself to get close to someone for the first time in ages. A potentially epic mistake—because when her interest in the prepper lifestyle puts Bryn in the hands of a homegrown terrorist, losing her could put Dane’s mental recovery permanently out of reach.
But once a Delta, always a Delta. And there’s a team in Texas who are ready to have Dane’s back at a moment’s notice.

Superb!! I LOVED this story!! This story is filled with intrigue, excitement and humor! Bryn is a genius and has a habit of spouting off random facts to everyone she meets and has felt like a freak all her life. Dane is ex-military and dealing with his own feelings of inadequacy. Together they are perfect! I absolutely loved Bryn’s random facts! I learned a lot of things I never thought I would want to know! LOL!! This is not the normal romantic suspense, it’s so much more!! Everyone needs to read this book!! A 10 star read for me!
This story grabs you from the first page and never lets you go. It is a fresh, compelling read full of action-packed suspense, charming characters you will absolutely love and a gentle, refreshing romance that will have you ‘oohing and ahhing’ from the sweet beginning to steamy end. The character development and storyline are great and the general descriptions and background settings so well written you can imagine them before your eyes. I love Dane and Bryn together. He is irresistible and she is utterly delightful. They make such a beautiful couple, each haunted by their own insecurities but together they work through their uncertainties and form an unbreakable bond of trust and love. This book is an exciting read and the author has a way of writing that keeps you engaged throughout the entire story. There were plenty of adrenaline pumping scenes, laugh out loud moments and I will even admit to a few sniffles. Shhh…we will keep that here! If you follow Dane and Bryn on their adventure you will not be disappointed but yet smiling you were along for the ride. This is another fabulous addition to the Delta Force series and I hope there will be many more to come. This author is definitely one to add to your bookshelf.
On a deadline here, so not much time to post reviews. But I loved it! The H/h were two terrific characters!
“Rescuing Bryn” is the sixth book in the Delta Force Heroes series and it was fantastic. It is the story of Dane “Fish” Munroe and Bryn Hartwell and together they make a great couple. Dane not only lost his arm but his whole Delta Force team in an op gone bad. Now he has moved to a little town in Idaho preferring to be by himself to try to find out where to go from here. Dane cannot help but wonder why he lived when all of his buddies died, couple that with PTSD and it isn’t hard to see why Dane prefers to shop at odd hours. Bryn is a quirky but well meaning woman that works in the grocery store where Dane shops, and in her way she thinks she is helping him, but to begin with Dane doesn’t see it this way. Eventually she intrigues him and he wants to get to know her better. When Bryn’s interest in the prepper lifestyle get her into trouble, Dane knows just who to call to help.
I love this series and cannot wait to read the next one, Susan Stoker writes romantic suspense better than anyone!!
I normally love Susan Stoker’s books, but this one not so much. If I’d know the majority of the chapters were going to be about Bryn’s IQ and analizing everything that’s out there I wouldn’t have bought this book. The only action was toward the end of the book where she was kidnapped. Very disappointed in this book.
Looking for solitude in the wilderness Fish finds what he actually thought he’d never have after loosing not only the brothers in arms of his platoon but half his arm in the same explosion – a random-facts-sprouting-dynamo who wants nothing more than to make Fish comfortable. A very sweet story about trust and fighting your demons.
A great book, and is very good about seeing how life is for anyone that has an amputee!! And how a relationship can work.
5 stars
Dane was in Delta Force when his team was killed and he lost part of his arm. He moves to Idaho and stays to himself. Bryn is extremely smart and says what ever pops into her head. She sees Dane having problems in the grocery store and sets out to make his life easier. Dane thinks she’s a stalker and yells at her. Bryn quits her job, so he won’t have to go out of town to grocery shop. After figuring out that Bryn helped him home one night while he was drunk, he decides to get to know her better. He finds her fascinating and Bryn of course is attracted to him. But when she starts researching preppers, it could be one time she can’t talk herself out of trouble.
Each time I read one of Ms. Stoker’s books, it always ends up being my favorite, until the next one I read. Bryn is pretty and tells it like it is. Dane is handsome but suffers from PTSD and thinks he’s half a man because of his arm. Bryn shows him he’s perfect the way he is and they are perfect for each other. Sexual tension and some heavy make out sessions.
What a story of looking past all the quirks a person could have to see the real them and accept them through it all. “Fish” and Bryn may be my new favorite couple.
I absolutely loved this story. I loved that Bryn is different and quirky.
And Dane, once a soldier always a soldier and with the help of his team from Texas he will do whatever it takes to keep Bryn safe.
I loved Bryn. Her random facts, continuous chatter and impulsive behavior. It turns out Dane is perfect for her. He enjoys the information in fact seems to soak it up. It gets him out of his own head.
I liked the attention to some of the groups out there who ar ed more terrorist than not. That they can be anywhere even small town America. It is important to pay attention and be safe.
I don’t know when or how much I enjoyed reading a character like Bryn. She was absolutely, quirky delightful and so interesting. Her lack of filters, childlike naivetě and amazing intellect make her so very unique. Once Dane got over his suspicion of Bryn, the way he cherished treated Bryn was heartwarming. His evolving acceptace of his injury and how others saw him was remarkable. Susan Stoker produced a winner when created this wonderful love story.
So wonderful to read a book with a heroine who is on the spectrum. I loved this.
I loved the main characters in this book. Finally a book showing a steamy, flirty, emotionally and physically passionate relationship between people the general public may not recognize as stereotypical romantic leads.
Yet another awesome book by Susan Stoker I love all of her books they are wonderful to read you don’t want to put them down
I’m still completely addicted to this series and this author! I love how every book has some very UNIQUE aspects! Bryn was mildly autistic and Dane was SO loving of her uniqueness!!!!
“She made him feel like nothing was impossible, even for a disabled former soldier with very little formal education, like himself. She was a miracle. His miracle.”
-5 Stars!-
Not your typical love story, but still a love story with so many twists and turns! Absolutely loved it!!
I love military-themed romantic suspense, and as long as a book in this sub-genre is written well, it’s almost guaranteed to be a five star read for me. This book went well beyond five stars (and yes, I know that’s not possible). I really loved this book. All thoughts of work flew out my mind and I settled in to read this in one (relatively long) sitting, stopping only for coffee. I have read Susan Stoker’s books before, and enjoyed them, but this one truly captured my heart. She has done a remarkable job writing two very unique characters in a beautifully inclusive way. Yes, this is a romance, but it is so much more. It is a poetic, passionate statement about the beauty of difference and the importance of love and compassion. Pick up a copy. You won’t regret it!
Dane “Fish” Munroe a Delta Force soldier, had seen a lot in his life and career, but nothing in his life could prepare him for the loss of his entire team that died right before his eyes. Rescued by another team Fish was barley making it, suffering from PTSD he finally manages with the help of his adopted team to somewhat make it. Moving to Idaho so he can be alone and try to cope with the issues that are assaulting him.
As far as he knows no one cares at all, but Bryn Hartwell cares and she does try to help him in the only way she knows after seeing him shopping at the store she works late at night. But Fish suspects that she is stalking him and gives her a tongue lashing for the fact that she tried to help him. She can see that he is still hurting and someone has to worry about him, which spurs to nurse him when she realizes that he is at a very low now.
Fish is intrigued by her, she is kind, socially awkward woman and so he allows him self to get close to her, but he soon sees that its a mistake because Bryn is totally interested in prepper lifestyle and manages to get her self fall into the hands of a homegrown terrorist , but by now loosing her would hurt him far more then he can even imagine.
Will he be able to rescue her, will his new team have his back, read to find out, its a touching story that will absolutely make you smile and realize that love and friends go a long way.
I love all of Susan Stoker’s books! I’ve read them in order – even though I guess you don’t have too – but I definitely would!! They introduce the ladies as they are in each book. This is book 6 and awesome! You tend to feel bad for the hero in the story with losing his arm and his whole SEAL team across seas, but the other Delta Force SEALS have kinda adopted him – very sweet!!! Then there is Bryn – you just have to love her. Susan did a great job of writing her so that you just can’t help but really hope those two fall in love.
Love her books – read them all! You won’t be able to put them down!!!
