Jake is a broken man in spirit. After his mom dies, Jake takes care of his alcoholic father. His father has berated him and knocked him down verbally so many times.
When Jake is caught in an avalanche, he is a broken man in body also. When Marisha digs him out of the snow, she saves his life, can she save his spirit too? It is amazing what love can do.
This is book 4 in the Heal Me Series. Stacy Eaton takes us on another roller coaster ride of emotions, about love, family and friendships. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the other 3 also, but make sure you have a box of tissue on hand.
Book 4 in the “Heal Me” series and I was hooked from the very beginning with the great storyline and wonderfully created characters that kept me totally invested in the characters and their story until the very last page!
Marisha is Tucker’s sister and a well-known jewellery designer. Tucker and Josey ask Marisha to go on their honeymoon with them so Josey has someone to ski with. At the resort, they see Jake. He was one of Tucker’s oldest friends and Marisha would follow them everywhere. Jake and Marisha have one beautiful night together, but a jealous woman tanks it all for them. A lost promotion. A lost home. An alcoholic father. A cruel father. An avalanche. Trapped. A very serious injury.
Rescued is book four in Stacy Eaton’s Heal Me Series and definitely worth reading.
Marisha is on Tucker and Josey’s honeymoon since Tucker can’t ski because of his back injury and Josey loves to ski, but Marisha doesn’t want to feel like a third wheel so keeping herself busy will take some work.
Running into a childhood friend is a wonderful surprise for both Marisha and Tucker, but Marisha realizes real soon that her feelings for Jake haven’t changed at all. If anything what was once a childhood crush has become an adult attraction that they both are more than willing to act on.
When disaster strikes Marisha is willing to do everything possible to help Jake heal, but he pushes her away and with no reason to stay Marisha heads home where hopefully her heart can heal.
Jake soon realizes that the only place he belongs is with those who he loves the most and the home that he always thought of as his home.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
If you haven’t read book 3, the following might be a spoiler… Marisha goes on Josey & Tucker’s honeymoon. So Josey won’t have to ski alone. They run into Childhood friend Jake and let’s just say it’s a real avalanche of emotions from then on. I felt sooo bad for Marisha and often wanted to smack Jake, but it is such a great read!
“ Marisha wasn’t just all over my body, but she was burying herself into my very soul. “
When your best friend’s annoying little sister becomes the center of your affection and attention, nothing can stop faith from pushing you together no matter what. The Heal Me series is a great series that keeps on bringing together people that have such opposite lives that it makes their love stories even more intriguing. Jake and Marisha have a great chemistry but I really felt like knocking some sense into them a couple of times and Jake got me so frustrated at some point that I dearly wished someone would punch him for me! He is so stubborn and so proud that he’s ready to let go the only woman for him.
I like series like this one where you can read a book as a standalone and at the same time hear about how characters from previous books are evolving with their own lives and to find out how they are connected with the present book.
I hope this wasn’t the last in the series!
I loved this story. I loved Jake and Marisha. They are both at a crossroads in their life and reconnect just when they should.
While this book completely stands on it’s own, having read Tucker’s story first did give me a greater appreciation for the part he plays in this story.
Rescued Heal Me Series Book #4 Stacy Eaton
This book can be read as a stand alone, but reading the previous book will enhance your understanding of some of the characters.
Marisha Wheatcraft is on her brother Tucker’s honeymoon! Crazy as it sounds it makes sense. Josey, her sister-in-law loves to ski, and due to severe injuries Tucker suffered while working as a policeman, he has limited mobility. Solution….Marisha skis with Josey. While checking in she is annoyed by a man flirting with the desk clerk. Turns out, this annoying man is Tucker’s best friend from childhood, and her secret crush! Jake Sweeney is a para medic working for the resorts ski patrol. He loves his job, the area and would just like a promotion he feels he is due. He is known for his boundless flirting. They plan a dinner together and the sparks fly.
Jake and Marisha are very attracted to each other, and when things are good, they are very good. But tempers flare frequently, and they don’t seem to know how to talk to each other to straighten things out. It takes a near tragedy for them to realize what they truly feel for each other.
The characters are great, but I found myself getting pretty annoyed with Jake! A bit arrogant, self-centered, but down deep a good man. Marisha just has to be patient and dig a little.
Thanks to the publisher and author for allowing me to read and review this entertaining story.
