I woke from cryostasis a prisoner. My crime? I have no idea. I was stuck with a hundred other women, all headed to who knows where. Captive in a dank, dirty cargo hold. Then, out of the darkness, came Solair. A handsome alien. Golden skinned. Horned. The dashing captain of a pirate ship. They rescued us–he gave my people food, shelter, and promised us safety. In exchange? He took me for himself. … safety. In exchange?
He took me for himself.
But the people who captured us, haven’t given up. They want us back. They’re powerful and will do whatever it takes to find us. The only thing stopping them?
Solair.
He wants me. And what he takes…
He keeps.

Interesting story and the potential to be a good series, however I felt like this story spent more time setting up the world building. 107 women have been rescued by Alien smugglers. They don’t know why they were taken and they start finding mates among the crew. It was more a story about how they were integrating with the crew on the ship not a great deal of action.

Great story written by two wonderful authors. The story about Captain Solair who commands a pirate ship Ancestral Queen and crew and Varia the appointed the leader of the group of women who were taken and locked up or in cryopods and rescued by the Captain and his crew while they were plundering the ship was highly enjoyable to read. The interactions between Solair whose life is change when he meets Varia who combats him at every turn along with the attraction toward a blossoming romance along with the hidden question of why the IHC took all of them and put them on the ship kept my interest to the last page. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via booksprout and the authors. ARC
This would have been a great story had Varia not been an awful, entitled, demanding, angry, aggressive, ungrateful, horrible person. Seriously, the priates saved her and over 100 other women from a certain and horrible death, yet not one word of thank you fell from her lips, nor did she engage in any calm discussions about the things they would appreciate, instead she and most of the other women were simply irate that the pirates hadn’t catered to their every whim without having to ask what else they’d like first. And although there were some steamy parts, there was zero chemistry between Varia and Solair.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
New sci-fi romance series. It could be pretty good, but I don’t like the female characters at all. They just steamroll over their rescuers as if they are to blame for all their problems. Disappointed..

Enjoyed the book. It is well written, entertaining and holds your attention. The story revolves around 107 women who were held prisoner in deplorable conditions for reasons not always known, and their rescue by Captain Solair and his crew. With prior military service, Varia is appointed the leader of the group of women and she is not always in agreement with Solair as she makes her opinions known. When he first saw her, Solair feels she is his fated mate and finally after their first kiss he is sure his assumption was correct. This is a great story that will be continued into the next book. This was a great read and I would highly recommend it. It will be interesting to see what is in store for the ship and its crew.
