I loved every moment of Polar Destiny, such a great look into what could happen if the end of the world came with shifters mixed into it! This book will keep you reading all night! (I’m looking forward to book 3 releasing soon too!)
An amazing story . Isla lives on Salvation Island with her uncle as the Drowning killed her parents when she was young. But now her uncle has sold her to a cruel man, and Isla is determined to run away. She does run away but now she is lost and cold. She is found by four bear shifter, which starts Islas journey in the bear shifter world. Loved reading this book and cant wait to read the next installment in Islas story. Thanx.

I so love me some bears so when I heard about this book I knew I had to read it. The world has changed drastically after what the call the drowning. The sea end was well as other stuff killing most of the world, sinking lots of land, and the weather is getting colder. We meet Isla who lives in an island with a horrible Uncle about to be forced into marriage with an abusive man. She flees across the ice instead where she almost died but is saved by four bear shifters. This will change everything. Great World building with awesome characters that really make the story flow. I do need my own bear now!! Perfect for paranormal RH romance fans. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I listened to Rescued by Bears by Skye MacKinnon on Scribd and I knew of this book and had always wanted to read it but never got to it. I was happy to see all of them are on Scribd and I can listen to my hearts content.
Story:
I thought the concept of the dystopian world was interesting, to go along with the bear shifters (loved how different ones are represented in the harem!!). I thought Isla was strong and had reasonable reactions to what was thrown at her hahaha (I would have been super pissed like she was with the bears!). I loved the different personalities of the guys and am intrigued by them so much I am already listening to book 2! I was a little thrown off by Alice, but I am gonna see how the rest of the series goes because she is so much of an unknown and her not being interested in the others was odd.
I have listened to other books by Skye but I was under the impression this was one of the more heated books, especially with her blurb saying “very steamy scenes”. In honesty it’s not, but I will hold my judgement a bit until I have finished the series. I understand some authors choose fade to black for a reason, but I honestly didnt expect it so soon in Skye’s books and I hope we get to see more of those moments with some of guys who didnt get that opportunity to shine in this one. Like I love heated moments, but I don’t expect all sexy scenes will be detailed, especially with RH (some do thats I love those too, but I am not a fan of all fade to black scenes in a book/series). I like a mix of story and steam, but I have a thing with getting the whole kit and caboodle when the MC and her men first go to that level. It’s a special moment and if its glossed over it takes away the story for me. So hopefully this is remedied in the other 2 books because I am sad we don’t get to see that with some of the fluffy teddy bears . I would have given this a 4 stars but felt lied to by the blurb and marketing of the book.
Narration:
So I would give Kyo 3.5 stars for her performance. I am on the fence with her, because sometimes I think she is perfect and sometimes I have to up the speed of the audiobook to get to a point where I can stand listening to her. I will say that since she started narrating for some of the RH authors I like she has gotten better, but it took awhile to get there (I couldn’t stand her when she did one of Laura Greenwood’s books). I thought her accent with some of the guys was goofy but I just went with it. I am not doing to take a lot of this story seriously haha. I do listen to this at 1.5 speed so that helps with the way Kyo breathers/her rendition. I will say I couldn’t stand her voice for Alice and I get it, she was trying to show how different her personality is from Isla, but it was a little too much for me.
This is a good start of this series. I enjoyed the characters and the world building is imaginative. I am looking forward to getting the backstory of the men.
Isla has escaped from her pending marriage to an abusive man. She runs. She is saved from the cold by four men. They are happy that she is there but they have secrets. Major secrets. When the secrets change her life, will she survive? More to come…

This is interesting, the world after the Drowning and what happened as far as Isla knew, which isn’t a lot since she’s stuck on an island of what used to be the Scottish Highlands and her people aren’t allowed to leave or explore. Her reactions to Torben after waking up were really funny and got me laughing, but she’s on the TSTL side and it’s not my favorite trope, so stars off just for that, for me personally. Her actions fit her character, age and experience, I just get annoyed with them, you could enjoy her.

Skye has taken Goldilocks and set it in a post apocalyptic reverse harem world that will have your heart beating wildly. Excellent work from Skye. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I loved this book! It really intrigued me and once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. It’s a really good storyline on top of hot alpha male shifters laying claim on our sassy heroine. It definitely gets hot and steamy in here so be prepared for it.

It was an interesting take on a reverse harem story. The female character was not what I was expecting, she seems either very naive or juvenile. I wanted to really enjoy this story, but her character made it very to do so. This is the first book in a 3 part story. I am hoping her character evolves in the next book

Fantastic Start
Isla’s story with her four bears starts here, after global climate change has upended the world. Unique mythology, terrific writing, some surprise twists and, of course, deliciously steamy scenes make for a great read and a great start to this trilogy.
This is a new author to me and I definitely will be reading more from her! I felt so bad for Isla because of her controlling uncle. At least she wasn’t a child bride, but she was being married off to a monster. She in turn runs away across the frozen ocean but she succumbs to the freezing temperatures or at least she thinks she is. Isla wakes up warm and safe. Upon meeting the four men that saved her she overhears some shocking news about her saviors and runs from them. After she tries to flee her fortune is turning around when they meet another couple and the men finally find the island where it all started. Isla and the men are getting closer but they don’t really know what they are doing when it comes to Isla and the alpha starts the mating unintentionally. Will Isla be able to forgive them? Will Isla be able to survive?
This was an easy quick read. The post-apocalyptic world is pretty interesting. The rules for these shifters are different than the other ones I have read. I didn’t expect the twist of the mates thing. It’s a HFN since I see that it is a series. Her bear does call her immature and it’s true.
There is mention of SA/DV in the first few chapters hence why the heroine runs.

I was not sure about reading this one since it is a dystopian world, But it did keep me turning the pages. This one has it all, drama, action, suspense, adventure. Loved the story and characters.

Loved this work and can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment. The characters were fantastic and so different from each other, making it so much fun to see the different chemistry between them. I am eager to see where the story goes and find out more of Alis’s history and how she is going to solve the problem with the help of Isla.
Five out of five stars.

The world as we know it, is no more. There was a flood and all that is left are little islands. Isla lives with her uncle because her parents died in the flood. Isla is studying medicine and is past the age she should be mated and having children. Isla’s uncle decides it is time and she is being given to meanest man on the island. Isla only has one choice, to run while all the others are celebrating. Isla leaves during the cold winter night to escape from being forced to mate with a man she does not want or love. She is not dressed for the cold and has no idea where she is headed. When she gets too cold and tired she lays down deciding death is better than what her life will be like if she stays. When she wakes up is comfortable and warm. Then she meets the men who saved her. All four of them are bear shifters, and it doesn’t go well when she finds out what they are. Loved this book, the characters are amazing and work well together. There are some twists that make this a one of a kind story.
Fun read! Will def be reading on in the series.
A fun FMC who flees an oppressive life/family/culture makes for a fun story that has that remote/ small-town/ community feel, packs plenty of heat and action, just the right amount of misunderstanding (too much of this overused tactic and I get bored) and an all-around fun world.
MacKinnon is growing on me as a writer.
4 stars.
Note:
I read the audiobook and absolutely loved this narrator. Hope to find her voice on more books that cross my path.
I enjoyed the book as a whole, the story kept me interested.
Isla escapes from a very male dominated island after the world floods and everyone becomes more isolated. She walks across the ice and finds herself rescued by four men. The four men are travelling around trying to find their ancestral home but after the flood, all maps have become defunct.
As they all get to know each other there is an attraction but then Isla finds out that they are bear shifters.
Isla started out as a great character, she was training in medicine, seemed to have a level head on her and was determined to leave so she wasn’t married off to he highest bidder. But as soon as she was with the guys she became a gibberish girl, jumping to conclusions and stomping her foot.
The story does continue, but also has it’s own ending.
Isla’s Uncle has decided she should marry, the one he has chosen is the man who was married to her best friend. When Isla found her tied up and beaten she frees her. Julie was never seen or heard from again, a boat was missing and Isla had been punished for it.
Sort of resigned to her fate, her wedding coincides with the celebration of the Winter Solstice. With many revelers she wanders away then starts running across the vast expanse of frozen ocean. Eventually she collapses from the cold not expecting to wake.
Instead Isla wakes wrapped in warmth by a fire. Unwrapping herself she starts to explore her surroundings.
After meeting the men who rescued her from certain death, she is given the attic room to sleep. Unfortunately for the men she hears their conversation and tries to flee injuring her ankle.
of course you know nothing is going to be easy and they number of OMG moments are many.
Lots of changes, surprises and sizzling romance in this first book of the series. I can’t wait to read the next one.
