When Deputy Sam Brooks commits to something, nothing can sway him–not just on the job as liaison between the Mercy Falls sheriff’s department and PEAK Rescue, but in his private life. He’s the one who stuck around to take care of his mother after his father’s accidental death. And he’s the one–perhaps the only one–who believes Sierra Rose is the perfect girl for him. Safe, practical, and … and organized, she’s nothing like her hippie, impulsive, bleeding heart sister, Willow.
Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember. But she wants her sister to have a happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on–namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small-town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.
Neither can predict the events that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.

Oh my goodness. I dove headlong into Rescue Me right after finishing Wild Montana Skies. I cried throughout the entire book, which I’ve never done before. What an intensely emotional book…..and that’s saying a lot because the author’s books are usually quite emotional.
Sam and Willow are amazingly beautiful people who others trust and love but they have a hard time loving themselves. They also have a hard time letting go of the past. Yet God’s forgiveness, grace, and redemption step into the picture to show them who they really are. Sam’s character turns from dark, brooding, and angry to free and forgiven. Willow becomes less fearful and self-condemning.
I was hoping for a progression in Ian and Sierra’s story….alas, still holding my breath for their relationship to actually take off…
And I really loved the introduction of Pete, Sam’s brother, and Jess as his possible love interest. They work together for PEAK and both are more alike than they realize. Both are in need of God’s grace, forgiveness and redemption….which Pete steps toward in this book. Reconciliation for Pete in this book with his past and family is quite heartfelt.
When is book 3 coming out?!?!?! I’m going into Mercy Falls withdrawal already! Will book 3 focus on Pete/Jess? Maybe finish out Ian/Sierra saga? Bring in other teammates of PEAK? Ahh…the agony of waiting….
I received a digital advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are my own.

Heart stopping suspense and sweet romance filled the pages of this story. This was a story that had me staying up way past my bedtime to find the happily ever after.
Note: I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
I love all Susan’s books and this one was no different. She has wonderful characters with a great story.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat! Just as I thought things were going to be OK, something else would happen! This second book in the series did not disappoint. The action, the relationships, the characters; they felt believable and real. The author does a great job keeping the secondary story lines alive and active without taking away from the main story line. At the same time, I don’t feel like the secondary plots are dragging, either. The Biblical lessons are clear and a natural part of the story; they don’t feel forced. It was like listening to a friend speak of their struggles. Well done. I look forward to reading the next book!
Book 2 in the Montana Rescue series picks up shortly after the events in Wild Montana Skies (book 1). This story centers on brothers Sam and Pete Brooks, the tension between them, the lies they believe about themselves, and women, (Willow and Jess), who shake their hearts to the core. Oh, and this story is about bears. Mean, angry, female grizzly bears who want to kill anything threatening their cubs! What are the chances of having not one, not two, but three grizzly encounters in one book? Well you have to read it to believe it! This action-filled, inspirational story captured my interest from chapter one and I couldn’t put it down until I knew who survived to the end. Note to readers: This book could be read as a stand-a-lone, but the setting and character building that Warren creates is much easier to understand when you start with book 1, Wild Montana Skies. I borrowed this book from my local library.
Enjoyed after reading Book 1
