The girl’s body lay on the riverbank, her arms outflung. Her blonde hair lay in matted clumps, shockingly pale against the muddy bank. Her face was like a porcelain sculpture that had been broken and glued back together: grey cracks were visible under the white sheen of her dead skin. Her lips were so blue they could have been traced in ink.
When the body of troubled teenager Elodie Duncan is … Elodie Duncan is pulled from the river in Abbeyford, the case is at first assumed to be a straightforward suicide. Detective Sergeant Kate Redman is shocked to discover that she’d met the victim the night before her death, introduced by Kate’s younger brother Jay. As the case develops, it becomes clear that Elodie was murdered. A talented young musician, Elodie had been keeping some strange company and was hiding her own dark secrets.
As the list of suspects begin to grow, so do the questions. What is the significance of the painting Elodie modelled for? Who is the man who was seen with her on the night of her death? Is there any connection with another student’s death at the exclusive musical college that Elodie attended?
As Kate and her partner Detective Sergeant Mark Olbeck attempt to unravel the mystery, the dark undercurrents of the case threaten those whom Kate holds most dear…

This was a very entertaining at-the-lake read but better written than most. I was cheeing for the main character to win, her description was so plausible.
Her books not only have a strong heroine and good other characters, but also
background on other things of interest
Keeps you reading longer than you planned.
Another in a series I have come to love and enjoy. This is good mystery writing and thoroughly enjoyable.
Can’t Go wrong with a Kate Redman mystery. Her life and the mysteries keep the reader guessing.
Elodie was an interesting character, and despite that we only know her as the victim, it’s as we learn more about Elodie the girl that we are prepared for the finale.
This is only the second Kate Redman book I’ve read – I got hooked on the series with the first book. My sister recommended the series. Good mysteries, keep you guessing until the end. The reader can relate to the regular characters – they’re human and have their flaws, not super-human, unnatural, perfect. Very little foul language which is …
Book 2 in the Kate Redman series continued along the same storylines. Different mystery but the same characters, etc. There is something formulaic and familiar about the plots and characters for me, which is comforting or cozy in a way.
I just recently discovered the Kate Redman Mystery series and fell in love with the lead character and all of her foibles/insecurities and watched her grow and mature over the course of each progressive book. I look forward to reading more in this series.
This book was full of deep, dark secrets that needed to be exposed so healing can begin and …
You have to read the series.
Too dark for me.
Love the entire Kate Tredman series by Celine Grace.
I have read all of the Kate Redmond series and have enjoyed the suspence and story lines. These are easy to read and not too gory with details but enough to keep you wondering at the mind of a serial killer.
Needs a little editing but a fun read nonetheless.
Very interesting, I enjoyed this book
I really love Celina Grace’s novels. They keep me wanting to turn the next page to follow the action. The background description really lets you imagine yourself there. Great read!
Tommy Franks will be remembered as one of the great Americans of our time. A man of action a disciplined soldier he lead his troops the way he conducted his life with honor and integrity. A must read for those who want insight to the modern American military leader of today.
I like all of her books that I have read.
While Kate Redman is a tamed down Helen Grace, Celina Grace manages to create a page turning mystery every time. On my 7th book in the series in 4 weeks. Cannot stop. Lighter than Arlidge but still captivating.
Really enjoyed this one — engaging main character (Kate) and enough plot twists to keep it interesting.
