My first thoughts are oooo this is good. ‘Do you know me?’
I love it when the author writes memory loss books.
Clementine has no idea who she is. She lost her memory after an attack.
Ed is her ex boyfriend. When she walks in his shop, he flips out because she broke his heart.
These two battle someone trying to harm her and the rebuilding of a relationship.
I absolutely could not put this down. I loved every minute of it. Highly recommend it for romance lovers!
Full disclosure – as per usual, I did not read the blurb for Repeat before reading it. I loved Trust (the first book I read by Kylie Scott) enough to make her a must read/auto buy author from that point on (she is the author that truly convinced me to give YA contemporary a real chance). I think not knowing what was going to happen in this book actually improved the reading experience, but even if I did have a clue as to what was going to happen, I still would have thoroughly enjoyed Ed and Clem’s story. I’ve never read a book where amnesia played such a large role in the plot and though I was able to figure out the culprit fairly early on, I really enjoyed how the book played out – how Clem gained entrance back into Ed’s life and circle, the way she adapted and accepted her condition, how she interacted with the secondary characters (who were all phenomenal), and the way she and Ed worked out their situation. I even enjoyed the red herring Kylie Scott threw in there! I’m hoping that we get book for each of Ed’s brothers and maybe even Clem’s sister too. Unfortunately, I can’t disclose my absolute favorite part of the book because I believe it will spoil an integral part of the plot – but I really loved how Kylie Scott portrayed Clem and her choices after her ordeal and that as an author she felt comfortable now tying everything up in a predictable bow as some might have. The book is refreshing and entertaining and entrancing – I basically finished it in one sitting! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I’ve been wanting to read a Kylie Scott book forever, and I’m so happy that this was my first from her! Repeat is her newest standalone, and it was definitely fun to read something so different!
For anyone who follows my reviews you know I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, so when I read this blurb I just had to read it. And I’m so happy I did! This is a second chance with a twist and done so differently than anything I’ve read before. I was hooked from the very beginning and, while I feel the end could have been drawn out a bit more, I couldn’t stop devouring this story until the last word.
Clementine’s first memory is waking up in the hospital after a brutal attack. With no memory of who she was before she starts following clues and ends up at a tattoo parlor with an owner who’s not too happy to see her.
When his ex waltzes into his shop Ed isn’t just annoyed, he’s furious. Until he realizes she not only has no idea who he is, she doesn’t even know herself. And when she starts asking questions about their past, the last thing he should do is talk to her and dig up old wounds. But soon he finds himself checking in and trying to protect her, while also trying protecting himself.
Clem & Ed’s story was so much fun and so interesting. For Clem everything is brand new, trying to learn about her past while navigating her present, and attempting to figure out where she fits in the world. For Ed it’s learning to be there for Clem without having his heart broken again, and discovering who she is versus who she was. Hatred, friendship & love are all intertwined throughout, with a twist (not going to lie, I figured it out pretty early on) thrown in to keep things interesting. The supporting characters were fun additions, and while this is supposed to be a standalone I would love to get more from Leif and Tessa.
If you’re looking for a twist on an old favorite this is definitely it! I highly recommend this one, and can’t wait to check out more from Kylie Scott!
4.5 stars for – Repeat – by Kylie Scott. This is a complete standalone with so much potential for more since all the supporting characters were just as awesome as the H/h. Do yourself a favor and read Repeat today!
Clementine Johns is the victim of a senseless attack that has left her with zero memory. She has no idea what her life was like prior to being found broken and bleeding on the street by a couple of Good Samaritans. Living with a sister she doesn’t remember and being only told partial truths about her previous life she goes on an expedition to find out about her past and boy does she ever find some things out…
Ed Larsen can’t believe his eyes when the women who ripped his heart out walks into his tattoo shop with a blank look on her face. Not needing the hassle in his life he proceeds to try and kick her out and learns rather quickly of the awkward predicament she’s in not recognizing him or their long, sometimes tumultuous past. How can he punish her for wrongs she can’t even remember committing, let alone kick her out the door without answering the basic questions she’s asking. He’s always been a sucker when it came to Clem and it seems a little amnesia hasn’t dimmed that spark in the least.
This story was the perfect mix of sassy and sweet with just enough sexy thrown in too. I loved the dynamic between Ed and Clem finding a whole new footing after their old life together was wiped away. The power of love and forgiveness knows no bounds in Kylie’s best story yet!
History repeats itself here, my fellow romance book loving friends, in a very good way. This author once again has completely captivated me with an engaging romantic tale that I absolutely could not put down. You see, she’s done it before with her incredible Stage Dive and spin off Dive Bar series, along with her stand-alone entitled, “It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time.”
Well, lucky for us poor Clementine, the heroine here, thought it was a good idea to backtrack and retrace a past she could not remember by visiting someone who might hold some answers. Otherwise, these two destined to stay together lovebirds never would have been reunited. Unlucky for her though this stranger named Ed was still healing and harboring resentment over an injury of his own, a broken heart.
From the very first sentence, I felt sucked into Clementine’s pain, uncertainty, frustration, and yet optimistic, sassy determination as she tries to reclaim her life after a tragic incident. She now lives in the aftermath and shadows of a previous life which must be reconciled with her former one. This whole story just seemed to flow effortlessly and seamlessly…from the heartache, accusations, realizations, understanding, and ultimately forgiveness. This book ran a full gauntlet of emotions, folks, and I loved every single second, especially the new improved version of Clementine.
You have got to feel for Ed for how things ended and the shock of seeing Clementine again. He didn’t handle it all that well, but, honestly, he had some right to still carry a beef over it. It was still a punch to the heart though.
Ed’s brother was absolutely hilarious and one mischievous handsome devil. In fact, he reminded me of Mal from “Play”. I’m keeping my fingers crossed he gets his own book in the very near future, hopefully with Clementine’s cop sister as his leading lady love. Yeah, that would be epic. I think he could definitely teach her a thing or twenty about letting loose and having some fun.
Time will tell with each new release. What I am certain of is with each one I’ll get a repeat dose of memorable romance.
Title: Repeat, Author: Kylie Scott, Pages: 302, stand-alone, ARC review, lots of relationship angst, sassy/resilient determined heroine, good guy but full of anger at first, very steamy scenes, some violence, great cast of sub-characters, unexpected twist at the end, wind up stronger couple than ever before, no love triangle, brief, not overly done OW drama, no OM drama.
Audio version: 6 hours, 47 minutes
(I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/PR firm.)
Repeat is a fresh and intriguing second chance romance – one unlike most due to the reason for Clementine and Ed’s reunion and the deep heartache that must be worked through in order for them to truly find their way back to one another. But that process is made even more difficult given Clem’s memory loss and her inability to understand why she would ever want to give Ed up.
There’s a lot for Clem to figure out when it comes to the missing pieces of her life, and while her memory isn’t functioning properly at this point, she must rely on her ex for answers and what she finds out complicates things exponentially and lends credence to the fact that what happened to her is not as random as things may appear to be.
It’s clear that the ‘old’ Clementine broke Ed’s heart, so I can’t blame him for his less than inviting behavior with her unexpected visit, but what’s also more than obvious is just how deep Ed’s feelings go for Clementine, which means that despite his lukewarm treatment of her at the beginning of the story and their uncomfortable interactions, they have unfinished business when it comes to what went wrong between them and what that means for them moving forward and the idea that these two have a chance to fall in love all over again, readers can’t help but root for Ed and Clementine to find their way past the heartbreak, past the memory loss, and past the drama and strange events that are out of their control.
I love how Kylie Scott allowed Clem to reinvent herself, offering her a blank canvas, in some ways, in order to figure out what this ‘new’ version of her likes in terms of clothing, food, and even people, and while it may be more difficult for Ed to forget what Clem put him through, Clem 2.0 still owns his heart and he still wants her in his life, and that’s never been clearer than when she needs him to not only fill in the pieces of her memory but also protect her from the unexplained things that are occurring.
Clem and Ed’s story is one of self-discovery and reinvention…it’s about trying to mesh the old version of someone with the new version that is still in construction…it’s about trust…about friendship, and it’s about finding a way not to repeat the mistakes of the past in order to have another chance at forever.
4.5 Poison Apples
4.5 stars This book is very different from the other books that I have read from this author and it was amazing! Repeat is a novel that I continued to think about for days after I finished reading it and is a different take on a second chance romance. For starters, the heroine, Clem has amnesia and doesn’t remember the important people in her life. This means she doesn’t remember Ed or why they broke up. With her frontal lobe injury, she has lost her filter and I love how she just says what is on her mind. She is a great heroine. She is strong and resilient – to have survived a vicious attack and how she tries to get on with her life. Ed deeply loved Clem when she broke his heart. He is such a sweetheart. Even though she crushed his heart, he is still super protective of her and clearly cares about her. One cannot help, but love him.
This fast-paced book kept me entertained into the very end. I wanted to know why they broke up. I wanted to know if her attack was an isolated incident or if she was targeted and if so, why. Repeat was a beautifully written book that has wonderful characters that you find yourself cheering on all while experiencing a bit of intrigue and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more of this author’s books. I received Repeat for free.

I’m a huge fan of Kylie Scott, so like every time she announces a new book, I just jump.
But this one specifically had me really intrigued, because of the blurb.
And guess what? I loved the story.
Loved Clem’s resilience and Ed… it takes a lot to go through all he does to help her, and says a lot, too, about his feelings toward he girl how broke his heart a few weeks ago.
The reader is a little like Clem, getting some hints of the Clem she was “before”, their couple “before”, their friends, and what could have happened to make those two split.
And as we read it, we feel all these can’t help but feel how Ed can’t help but be there for here, even if tit hurts him, and we can help to feel, like Clem, that despite the amnesia, her soul and body are still attached to Ed.
It was an amazing read, Kylie Scott did a wonderful job with Clem’s journey through her trauma, her “new self”, Ed and Clem’s “new” start, supporting characters, etc.…
I just couldn’t put the book down, and the love and passion was wonderful to read.
Grab the book and go totally blind, and like Clem’, try to navigate between the “before” you totally know nothing about, and the love that is still alive in the “now”.

I spent an entire day lost in this book ignoring anyone who tried to speak to me because OMG this is not a story that you can put down. Repeat will keep you hooked start to finish with the gripping mystery and one of the most unique second chances I have ever encountered.
Clementine starts this story with as much knowledge of her past as we do, which is very little. It was so intriguing to be learning everything about her right along with her. Who she was, who Ed was and just overall what happened and how did it get to that point. Her own curiosity ran as deep as mine and that alone could have kept me hooked but then there’s the romance. *sigh* Equal parts deeply emotional and sweet the love that grows between the “new” Clementine and Ed is a thing of beauty. There are so many layers to their story with everything being new for her yet everything combining into new and old for Ed it makes Repeat one of the best romances I’ve ever read!
What a FABULOUS story!! I immediately fell in love with the cover. How could I not, the guy is BEAUTIFUL . Then the synopsis intrigued me. Just a couple chapters in, I was already fascinated with the heroine, Clementine Johns. Told solely from her point of view I was so easily placed in her shoes as she told her story.
Waking up in a hospital with no memory of her life, she’s taking day by day as she tries to piece together the person she used to be; which leads her to Ed Larsen’s tattoo shop. Oh, that man was SO dreamy!! He was perfection inside and out. His past with Clem was deep but ended up broken and having her around again, even without her memory, was difficult for him. Even when he was trying to keep his distance, he couldn’t truly stay away. He was so caring and protective and sometimes too gentle when it came to Clem. Her amnesia led to many personality changes, making her bolder and more vocal. She doesn’t stew on her emotions or let worries fester into unhealthy reactions. She’s inquisitive- which was quite funny and adorable at times. And this new side to her allowed for she and Ed to start something newer and a bit more honest. More openness between led to a much better and easy going relationship.
I just loved how much of Clem’s personality came through the pages. She hooked me from the get-go. I loved see her navigate through her new life as this clean slate. She didn’t dwell on the incident that caused her amnesia. She wanted to face it all head on and move forward. She was brave in so many ways, as well as innocent in others.
I truly fell in love with both characters and their story. It was a wonderful combination of lighthearted, emotional and funny with even a tad bit of mystery and suspense. So many elements that just made it a fully entertaining read.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I was provided a copy for review purposes.
Repeat was the first amnesia story I have ever read and it was refreshing to read something new. Those story is a sexy, suspenseful second chance romance that you will fly through.
Repeat may be the most fascinating second-chance love story I’ve read. Clementine’s amnesia made her a fascinating subject and gave her the unique opportunity to have a first chance at a love story that had already been written and had ended with an unhappy ending. After learning everything she and Ed had been through I was heartbroken for her former self, and the relationship old Clementine and Ed had.
I fell in love with new Clementine from the moment I met her. She had a refreshing innocence and honesty that can only come with someone who is mentally and physically an adult but has no emotional experience. Clem was a fascinating creature, and her responses to everything she encountered was unexpected and genuine. Her lack of social graces made her uniquely forthright, and I absolutely adored every moment spent with Clementine.
Ed was adorable with Clementine, even when he was still hurt over the pain of his past with old Clementine and wanted to hate new Clementine. He held a softness in his heart for her, no matter how much he tried to distance and protect himself from more pain. Watching Ed discover all the things he’d loved about old Clementine and figure out all the pieces of new Clementine that endeared her to him was heartwarming. As they rekindled the beautiful love story (or fell in love for the first time), it seemed like there was never any choice for either of them, but to be together.
The suspense in Repeat surprised me. I love romantic suspense and having that storyline added even more to the book. I had my suspicions from the beginning about what was going on, but I was still a little surprised by how everything played out. I’ve never read anything quite like Repeat, and I loved both the second-chance amnesia romance and suspense elements of the book. I would love to spend more time in this world since the secondary characters Kylie Scott gave us in Repeat were so likable and interesting.
I have always been a fan of Kylie Scott and could not start Repeat fast enough. This was an incredibly beautiful story of a girl’s second chance at life after a terrible trauma. Clem and Ed had fantastic chemistry. Their was an honesty and raw intensity between them that hooked me from the first page.
When Clementine “Clem” John’s wakes up with amnesia after a terrible trauma she had to piece together the pieces of her life before the accident. The biggest question: Ed Larsen, her ex boyfriend who now has nothing but anger and blame in his heart towards her. Can Clem piece together her life while also battling her attraction for Ed and avoiding another dangerous attack.
I liked this book a lot as this story was very emotional with gut punching moments where I genuinely had a croak in my throat watching Clem and Ed’s interactions. I felt for both Ed and Clem as their was blame on both sides after their heartbreaking breakup. I thought they had fantastic banter and sexy chemistry. This story was unique and brilliant. Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
Lordy, I love me some Kylie Scott. She’s definitely a go to author for me. I always know, when I open her books, I’m going to get funny, sweet and an HEA that makes me smile.
She gave me all that and more with Repeat.
She pulled some strong emotion out of me with Clem. This is a girl that has an enormous struggle ahead of her but she handles it all with a certain awkward grace that I instantly attached to.
Despite being a tad predictable and a somewhat rushed ending, Repeat will go down as on of my favorite Scott stories. It showed some emotional depth that I’d love to see her explore more of. She’s always made me laugh but I dare say she could also make me cry.

What a great read! Kylie Scott brings us a sweet, second chance romance filled with unique characters, fun banter and some hot sexiness! Repeat grabbed my heart from the beginning!
“When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she’s forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did – which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.”
Clementine (Clem) wakes up with no memory of her former life. Who was she? What was she like? What was her life like? She starts on a journey of self-discovery, the old Clem verses the new version. She is also frustrated about the circumstances surrounding her injury as well as the lack of forthcoming information about her former life….
“Is the before me or after me a better me?”
She discovers so many things. I love Clem’s character. She has an air of innocence and curiosity. The new Clem is unique, funny, witty and straight forward. Her filter is also broken…
“…apparently the part of the brain in charge of inhibitions and social restrictors is messed up, so I don’t always react right, or at least how you’d expect me to behave based on previous me.”
Let’s talk about Clem’s love interest, Ed. He is intense, sometimes brooding and HOT! He has so much coming at him. There is a story there. A story of love and loss. He loves Clem, but he lost her. He is reluctant to open up to her. And he just doesn’t know how to handle Clem 2.0! But he is soooo swoony! I loved everything about him! He is caught between what was and what is.
“But that’s not how we are…”
“Were. That’s how we were, you mean.”
There are so many wonderful moments along with fun, witty banter in this story! Repeat flows with a steady build up that wraps up quickly. There is a touch of mystery and angst as well you are kept guessing! Kylie Scott has been releasing some amazing standalone stories and Repeat has just joined her list! I really loved it and look forward to the next story that she has to tell!
“Previous you?”
“It’s as good a label for her as any.”
“She’s you. You’re her.”
“Maybe. But she’s still a complete stranger to me.”

I was giving this book in return for an honest review & the opinions are 100% my own 🙂
I freaking loved this book , i love the story and the characters are so awesome !
Omg i so love Clem ,she is such a great character ,everything she has been through after the attack that left her without any memories at all ,the way she never gave up is awesome and i loved when she first runs into Ed her ex boyfriend ,she has no clue why they broke up or anything that happend between them but the more she starts to get to know him again the harder she starts to fall , they have a rocky past but now that she is a slightly different person and is more open about what she is feeling her and Ed have a 2nd chance to change the outcome between them 🙂 that is if unseen forces don’t get in the way !
OMG OMG i am 100% in love with Ed ,he’s super sexy tattoo artist ! and i loved that he wants to try again with Clem ,he loved her so much the first time but she broke his heart when she left him but now they are both different people and they have a chance to make a new life together and Ed isn’t gonna let it slip away again 🙂 they are totally perfect for each other !
Omg i also love Lief ! he is awesome and i can’t wait to read his book , Kylie Scott says she’s just waiting for his story to come to her and i am dying for his book!
I loved everything about this book ,i have been a huge Kylie Scott fan since i picked up her book Lick when it first came out and i have read almost every book she has written and i am looking forward to what ever she writes next , you can’t go wrong when you read one of her books ,she is totally one of my favorite authors !!!!!
What a fantastic book! When Clementine Johns loses her memory after an accident she tries to piece together who she was and it all starts with a tattoo shop. Ed Larson lost someone he loved once. So imagine his surprise when his ex walks into his tattoo shop with no memory! Can they figure out what happened to her? This is a beautifully told story of how amnesia effects not only the victim but everyone around them. I felt for Clementine trying to find her new self & the strength she had. I have a major crush on Ed!
Kylie Scott is an author I will read blind and that is exactly what I did with Repeat. I had no idea what I was walking into and let me just say- my mind and heart got all kinds of twisted up. This second-chance romance is unlike anything I’ve read before and I was addicted from the first confusing page.
There was something so endearing about Clem as she tried to figure out who she was again. I liked that she didn’t try to be the same person she was before the accident. She followed her gut and for the most part it didn’t steer her wrong. Especially where Ed was concerned. Oh Ed. Even though Clem was the one who was physically hurt, I feel like he had the hardest road. Trying to reconcile the old Clem and their volatile relationship with the woman who accepts things at face value and doesn’t hold a grudge. Her lack of filter alone had me rolling.
It was when more dangerous activity kept popping up around Clem that brought out all of Ed’s protective instincts. And in the midst of this unknown threat, there was this budding romance. But holy unexpected- when the danger escalated and the mystery of who was behind all of it was revealed, my jaw was on the floor.
I will say that the ending felt a hair rushed but otherwise Kylie Scott nailed it with this book. Everything about Repeat, the cover, the characters, the humor, the sex, the charm, the mystery- all of it- kept me absolutely glued to the pages. Clem and Ed’s second-chance romance was refreshing and sweet and dramatic at times and romantic. Watching them fall in love all over again melted my heart.
Clementine Johns, twenty-five and basically recently reborn, thanks to a near death experience which literally left her for dead! Ed Larsen, her ex boyfriend is her main link in helping to piece the puzzle pieces of her life back together caused by traumatic retrograde amnesia.
This second chance at love story is quite an original storyline and one that hooks you in from the beginning and holds your attention throughout the book. Good character descriptions and terrific dialogue are an added bonus.
Threaded throughout this story is some excellent humour, the wit is often self directed by Clem but still funny. At times over exaggerated statements that make you chuckle too, for example..”The insurance company keeps me on the phone answering questions for roughly three and a half years.” Very real humour too!
The mystery of who attacked Clem then the smaller issues that arise keep you guessing until all is revealed. A red herring or so is a clever ploy used by this author to throw you off the right track too.
A very entertaining and enjoyable book I totally recommend everyone.
