As a result of a vicious assault, Clementine was left with scars and amnesia. She loses all memory of people and events in her life before the attack. Someone notices a tattoo on her shoulder and recognizes the work of the artist. In an attempt to find out anything she can about her previous life, she contacts the artist, Ed, who happens to be her former lover. Of course, he’s bitter about their break-up and initially is very hostile toward her. But her very real distress and the danger in her life gets to him even though he tries to keep his distance. I won’t give too much of the plot, but I did love this story of love reborn.
I loved this book, have read it over and over. Five stars!!
Listened to the audiobook and the voice and story were spot on.
This review is for the audio book.
I received the audio as a gift at a book conference. This is the first full audio book I have listened to and I really enjoyed it. The story is sort of a heart breaker and the characters are a good fit. The drama is built at a good pace and I never guessed the villain correctly. I loved that! The ending is delightful and sweet.
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be the last.
Talk about a breath of fresh air in the sea of romances I’ve been reading. Yeah, the amnesia trope is nothing new, but Scott’s writing (combined with Andi Arndt’s narration) brought the story to life. It was so nice to be able to read about a romantic hero who is strong and loving without being controlling or possessive. And the disconnect between the two Clementines was so real. The way she struggled with the version of herself that she didn’t know and even discovered new things about herself was fascinating. Especially the way she was so blunt and honest. Plus, the book contained the oddest Harry Potter reference I’ve come across thus far.
This story struck me as a bit odd. There’s two mysteries here—A) the mystery of Clem’s past and present lives and B) the mystery of the attack that left her with amnesia. The characters all behaved very strangely and you weren’t sure if it was a clue or a red herring, and if it was a clue, which mystery was it a clue for? In addition I didn’t understand at all why Ed would love Clem based on the way she was described in both the past and the present. Yet they were both devastated after the breakup. There were so many mixed messages and sketchy information I was left scratching my head. I genuinely wonder if the author wrote it this way purposely so I was looking through the same lens of confusion that Clem was. I don’t know, but this story just didn’t work very well for me.
What was expected as a contemporary romance turned into a mystery/suspense which was a great surprise.
Clementine was a victim of a horrible attack which caused damage to her brain and now amnesia. She seems to be a completely new person. She doesn’t remember anything prior to the attack and struggles to find the person she was before and discover who she has become now.
As you think everything is fine and the book is set on self discovery and feelings for her ex Ed, suspense starts with random violent occurrences that seem to be directed towards Clem. You gradually start to suspect everyone around her.
Pieces start coming together and you try to figure out the “Who done it”.
For the beginning of the book I wasn’t so enthralled into it where I felt it was okay to set it down. I wanted to know what happened but no compulsive feelings or rush. About 80% I didn’t want to put the book down due to the suspense.
Overall it was enjoyable with the feel good love, the suspicion, mystery and laughter.
Never one to pass up a good deal I spotted Repeat on sale and the synopsis looked good. Well I must say I truly enjoyed the story. I read it in 2 days. It was interesting because she has amnesia and in trying to figure out what to do next and who she is now, she finds out through piecing her before life together that she is so different now. She doesn’t have a filter any more so she is sassy and funny. There is also a little suspense in the story.
Second Chance Romance.

4.5 ’s.
I am going to have to be brutally honest….. even though I read the blurb and knew I wanted to read this book… it was the cover model that lured me in completely. And throughout the entire book, I had his image every time Ed was on the page… so a lot!
That being said, the story is brilliant as well. I was captivated on how Clem was going to navigate her new self and discover what her old life was like. There were a few times I had tears because of what she was feeling. I loved that she separated the old Clementine to the new and more mature Clem. She has a wicked sense of humor that bought out a sassier side from her. And Ed… the delectable Ed, he was simply heavenly! He was loyal, dependable, protective and had a gorgeous dog! He was initially conflicted over Clem’s reappearance and it took him some time to sort through his feelings and wants. I liked that about him, I liked the way he asked her questions as well as Clem seeking out answers. I appreciated that they took things slow…in their own way to repair their relationship. I loved them for being sincere and straightforward with each other.
I adore second chance romances, I love their familiarity but also their reconnection. This one has an added twist of a suspense plot. I felt the conclusion of that was a little rushed but I still think it added to the story. There is no epilogue as such, but we do get a fulfilling ending. Now I need to do some research, because if Ed’s brothers have their own book, I want to read them asap.
Ever have that facepalm moment? Yeah, I’m having one of those. I’ve read just about everything Kylie Scott has written; Stage Dive series, Dive Bar series, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time, Lies, and Repeat. There’s very little I have not read. She’s that good. I thought I had reviewed something, anything, but I haven’t until now.
Repeat is one of those books that sticks with you long after you have finished it. There are many reasons for that, the over-arching theme of getting a do-over, the dreamy tattoo artist, the mystery, the new cool person our heroine is becoming. Watching people in her life re-adjust their perception of her as she becomes who she is now, not what she was in the past.
The characters are as only Kylie can write them, the kind of people you want to know for real in your life. The romance in this one is a bit of a slow burn, but it is worth the wait. Ed is just a great guy. He’s struggling with being kind to this person who he doesn’t want to be around. Clementine is just trying to piece her life back together. And this story just works on so many levels; there’s humor, angst, overbearing family members, and a lovely second chance at love.
You cannot go wrong with this story. Kylie brings all her brilliance to the table with this one. Repeat is just one in a long list of favorite books by this author. Now I need to review some others.
Wow, it must be surreal to start your life over after amnesia. I love everything I’ve read from Kylie Scott and Repeat was fantastic!
I felt for the heroine, Clem, not remembering anything and starting new again, wow.
I loved Ed and Clem together. Falling in love again was inevitable. Loved their love story and plenty of the heat you expect from this author. Another book I devoured from this fabulous author.
Loved it!
I love how unique Kylie Scott’s books are and the emotions they bring out in me. This book, let’s just say I thought the Hero was terrible, he constantly made me mad to where I wanted to throw something at him. The heroine’s reactions were interesting and made me try to put myself in her shoes.
Half-way through the Hero made me start warming up to him and I could feel his love for her. This book had the suspense I love and and a story that makes your heart heat up.
A second chance novel with such a twist it makes for a really fun listen/read! I really like this book and the twist at the end that wrapped everything up so pretty was not what I thought was going to happen. I can’t wait to dive into more from the author.

Repeat was a second chance stand-alone by Kylie Scott. And this was definitely a story I wouldn’t mind repeating.
Clementine “Clem” Johns had just experienced a violent attack where she was left with amnesia. She had no memory and was beginning to piece back the puzzle of her life.
Ed Larsen was a tattoo artist and shop owner who recently had his heart broken by Clem. She showed up at his tattoo shop not knowing him nor their previous life, but he couldn’t contain his animosity. Then the story began.
It was well written, well developed, a complex storyline and written with a single POV, Clem’s. For an unpredictability aspect, it needed to be just Clem’s perspective – but how I really wanted Ed’s too. I loved both characters. Clem was snarky and fun. Ed was intense but it was obvious he was loyal and a book boyfriend worthy.
With the storyline premise I knew it would be sad at times – and it was. But it was beautiful at times too. And Scott was able to bring in humor as well. I was pulling for them even when they were borderline friends and the hostility still existed. I don’t want to provide any spoilers so I won’t elaborate on the plot, but I enjoyed Clem’s exploration into the new Clem.
All in all, it was a fairly quick, emotional, heartfelt and humorous read. A definite must read.
4.25 Stars!
This was a fun and surprisingly compelling read. More and more, I struggle with finding a straightforward, couple-focused romance that I truly enjoy, especially when written in a first person POV. This book began with a startling hook and I had a hard time putting it down. I can’t say that I’m an amnesia trope kind of reader, but the way that the heroine was written had me wishing all heroines were portrayed this way. I always crave open communication when reading romance and Clementine’s no-filter personality shift made her one one of my favorite book heroines. There was a mystery/suspense element to the story and the author did a nice job throwing out a number of red herrings to keep it unpredictable. For the most part, the story was non-superfluous and tightly written, which kept it moving at a nice pace. The ending came and wrapped up a little quickly for me, but overall, I really enjoyed this one.
Audiobook: A wonderful audio presentation by the consistently fabulous Andi Arndt.
Let’s start off by saying that this is my first story by Kylie Scott and we enjoyed our first read by her.
This is story that had a great cast of characters and one that took us on one tense emotional roller coaster. Clementine wakes up in the hospital and her life changes forever as she wakes up with no memory of who she is or her past. There is only one person who can help her try to piece together parts of her past and that is tattoo artist Ed Larsen who happens to be her ex boyfriend who’s heart she broke only months before.
Hum…Not sure what to say about Ed other than the guy was full of heartbreak, anger, pain, abruptness but, when he was not full of all those things he could be compassionate, kind possessive, protective. We loved how he put his feelings aside to try and help and protect the women who he could never seem to fall out of love with.
Clementine was one of those character’s easy to love.Even with all her missing memories she tried really hard to embrace the new life she has been dealt with.Knowing nothing of her past or anything about her wants dislikes and so forth she embraces the new her.According to everyone there were some major personality changes and she feels different as well as acts slightly different and is slowly finding out about the old her as she struggles to find out who she is now and mesh the two together.
Overall I felt that Clementine although emotional at times didn’t let this tragedy of what happened to her keep her down for long and she did and amazing job not letting that one defining moment although tragic let fear rob her emotionally from moving forward or having a life.I loved her from the onset of meeting her as I found her to be brave, determined and at times made us laugh and when things weren’t so serious she was also a lot of fun and had a sense of humor and was not shy by any means.
Overall we enjoyed this love story when one is granted a second chance to start off with a fresh start of starting over with the one man who was the love of your life and you get a chance to fall in love all over again. I will say this story kept me on edge the entire time because emotions were running high most of the time. That tension and uneasiness loomed constantly between this couple until they decided that there might be a chance to make things work between them once again.I have to say that we were rooting for them from onset of the story that they might find their happily ever after all.
These two made the perfect couple and they definitely had chemistry between them and even when ones heart and mind don’t remember its mate your body and hormones definitely did . Let’s just say things turned interesting….
(Grins)
The story had the perfect mix of a great cast of characters as well as suspense and tons of drama and rocky emotional love story that kept us engrossed in the story to the very end.
Clem and her questions made me fall in love with this book.
So this story is about Clem , waking up one day and finding out she has amnesia. Now she is trying to figure out her pre amnesia life and goes to a tattoo shop from where someone recognized her unique tattoo was from. Turns out the owner of the tattoo shop is her Ex boyfriend Ed.
First he is a little hostile towards her but offers to help her learn about herself. So she keeps on asking him personal questions about herself along with some very bizarre questions such as
“I’ve never been kissed. Did you know that?”
“No, I didn’t.” His gaze drops to my lips. “Tell me more.”
“Well, what worries me is, what do you do with the nose?”
He blinks. “With the what?”
“The nose. How do you decide who goes which way so no one’s nose gets broken?”
“If you’re going in so hard that someone’s liable to break something, you’re probably doing it wrong. Especially given your medical condition. No one should require a crash helmet to kiss.”
“And what about the breathing? Do you hold your breath or mouth breathe through it or what?”
Also side note the part where she googled how to give a blowjob
”What’s on your mind, Clem?”
Ed was such a sweetheart. Even though he was really pissed off at Clem for breaking up with him without listening to his side of the story, he still couldn’t let Clem be alone in this difficult time. Even though she was handling the situation really well, I honestly wouldn’t have liked Pre Amnesia Clem that much she sounded boring. Whereas post amnesia Clem was funny and quirky.
There is also a side story of a person who is trying to kill Clem. I had 3 suspects, they kept on changing
I went from Oh for sure its Tim because he is creepy to Shannon because she is love with Ed to WAIT NEVIN? NO NEVIN WHAT?
”Nevin’s gaze on me seems to go cold, dark, and cruel. It’s a little scary.”
But you will have to read the book to figure out who the person is. The author did trick me in the beginning of the last chapter. I was like YEAH I CALLED IT. And then it wasn’t that person……
I picked this up a few months back when I was listening to more of my books on audio than actually reading physical copies. I had heard great things about Kylie Scott and I was dying to read something of hers. So when I stumbled across Repeat on Audible Escape, I knew that I had to have it!
This book includes all of my favorite tropes. If you read the description, then you know that Clem was violently attacked causing her to lose her memories. That’s right – the famous amnesia trope! The attack leaves Clem feeling like a shell of her former self. Desperate for answers, she seeks out her ex in hopes of gaining part of her memory back. Ed isn’t thrilled to see Clem walking into his tattoo shop – and neither is his friends. He reluctantly agrees to talk to her but decides see if he can help her. And that leads us to – a second chance romance! Ed was “nearly destroyed” by their break up so he has his guard up on high alert. He’s determined not to catch feelings for Clem again. Clem tries to respect Ed’s need for space. However, it is hard for her to stay away from the only person that makes her feel alive. She can’t remember why their relationship failed but understands why it started. Their chemistry is undeniable! It keeps building and building; oh yes, this one is a slow-burn.
My other favorite thing about this book is all the mysterious elements. It adds the perfect amount of suspense to the book. Just like Clem, us readers, are completely in the dark on everything. You don’t know who is genuine and who isn’t. You’re not sure if Ed is telling the truth or not. At one point in the story, I wasn’t sure if I liked the old Clem. Then, I wasn’t sure that I liked Ed – or all his friends! Kylie did a fantastic job with all her characters and having them persuading the reader on how to feel about a certain topic. Superb!
If you are looking for your next standalone read, I recommend this one!

A second chance at romance is just what the doctor ordered for Clementine after she is viciously attacked and has no memory of her past. Her ex, Ed might just have the answers she needs. Two people who are scared to take a chance but are drawn together no matter how hard they try to keep the walls up. Sometimes a fresh outlook is all that you need to realize what you gave away and what you didn’t fight for. Ed And Clem are a mesmerizing couple that will have you riding a roller coaster of emotions. Heartbreak, angst, understanding and at times frustration will rule your heart and mind with their story. These two will have you enamored with the passion that they just can’t escape from. A story that shows us that even if the mind doesn’t remember the heart and soul will lead the way.
Second chance romance, Hot tattoo artist, A Great plot with twists and turns, an unpredictable plot, it ticks all my box’s and I loved it!!
Such a breath of fresh air and a unique story-line.
I have read books where the character suffers from amnesia, that isn’t new or unique in that way but there was just something that had me longing to see how this all played out, it wasn’t just a case of someone trying to regain their memories.
Kylie Scott leaves no room for boredom, the plot is spaced out brilliantly with angst, drama, hotness and I was captivated with the story from the very the moment Clem who is still recovering from her attack which left her with no memories, walks into the tattoo parlor asking Ed if he was the one who gave her a tattoo and she was asked to leave in anger and couldn’t understand why.
You are taken on Clem’s journey of trying to piece back together her life and trying to figure out who she was before the accident and she discovers along the way that she likes creating a new Clementine. her first kiss, first sexual experience, Clem’s story is Bittersweet.
A beautiful story of second chances with twists and turns woven into the plot. I loved it and was sad when I reached the hea.
Narrated brilliantly, I felt like I was there with the characters and although the narrator is female she didn’t half make Ed come across as one swoon-worthy and sexy alpha who made me drool.
I want more like this, I loved it and would recommend it.
I listened on audio
This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be diving into more after this one. This story was a crazy but amazing story about starting over, (Well starting over when that is the only option you have.), it is about forgiveness and understanding and a love that can conquer the impossible. I loved these characters; everything about them, even the not so admirable parts. They stood strong in the face of one of the hardest trials in their lives and stood together when everyone said to walk away. I highly recommend that you grab Ed and Clem’s story right away, you will not regret it!!
