4.5 Stars
Clementine is trying to find out what kind of person her old self has been.
Before the attack.
Because this new Clem. The one without a memory…
She’s so not the same person.
Why did old Clem leave the love of her life Ed?
Why does he hate her?
What kind of pizza is her favorite?
Will any of these and other important questions ever find answers or will she just have to start a new and fresh life?
What will happen with Clem & Ed?
Will there be a Happily Ever After??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!
Well, that was … heartbreaking and mysterious and adorable and funny!
I really loved reading it.
The first thing you notice is the pretty/sexy cover and I love a good cover. I can still love a good book with a horrible cover, but I just love it when the cover fits the story, or the guy in the book!
It’s a bit frustrating that we only get Clem’s POV – we so need to know what Ed’s thinking – why they broke up, what happened, how their life used to be. But we’re moving at this slow pace with Clem – finding out who she was and what her life was like. And it was great to get to know her just like she is just now getting to know herself.
It was a really beautiful second-chance romance!
I Loved it! I loved the adorable doggie moments. The funny brother moments. We have some exciting moments, some sexy ones, some frustrating ones. Great romance!
Some tiny little things I didn’t love-love …
I wanted the book to be a bit … more? Longer. More depth to everything. The story felt a bit rushed all over. Like an editor cut too much of it. It starts with Clem visiting Ed’s tattoo shop after her attack and we’re right there in the present. I would’ve loved a prologue or just something more. I don’t even know what I mean exactly, but I wanted a bit more of everything.
Even a bit more of Ed. We see a lot of him. He’s an adorable and sexy and kind person. But we don’t really know him. Or we never really had the chance to fall for him because we already knew that we had to love him, because he’s the ex we want Clem to get back with. Ugh, I don’t even make sense in my own head now! Forget about it.
It was a great romance! It could’ve just been a bit more amazingly done!
Another thing – there are so many people in here. I felt like I had missed some books and/or that some – like Leif’s – were still coming, but nobody told us about it. (Gimmeee!)
But I really loved reading this book!!!!
REPEAT was an adorable and heartbreaking second-chance love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Ed – this one is MINE!!!
Audiobook review
I am loving the Audible First books – though I know some, like my blog partner don’t do audiobooks at all.
Repeat was an amnesia book with a difference. I was expecting the “flashbacks” of memories for our darling Clementine to remember, however we didn’t get that at all. She now has to learn to be herself in the now, all the while learning about the person she was in the past.
And that was not always a good thing for her.
I do like her in the now though.
Then there is Ed – oh my, am feeling the need, the need for another tattoo.
I enjoyed as Clementine and Ed found their way back to each other, but I did feel that the ending was a little bit rushed, but that could just be me.
I enjoyed the narration, Ms Arndt drawing me right into the story.
I laughed, I cried and threw my headphones across the room in frustration at times. – well played Ms Scott, well played.
Not I am impatient for what Ms Scott is bringing us next, and I feel a Stage Dive reread in my near future.
Her phone was stolen and her memories lost, but she’s got her sister and ex boyfriend to remind her of who she was. He body looks the same, yet she presents herself differently.
In Repeat we meet Ed Larsen and Clementine John’s. Ed is working at his tattoo parlor when his ex walks in with no memory of who he is or their past. A month ago Clementine was attacked and found unconscious. Her sister Frances isn’t able to help fill in the gaps of her life so she’s forced to start over. The tattoo on her arm is the first step in figuring out she was.
Repeat is a story about a twenty-five with amnesia trying to piece together her past so she can move forward into her future. Along the way Clementine finds out she doesn’t like her former self. Luckily, she gets to reinvent herself wiping the slate clean of who she was in the past.
This is a Larsen Brothers story. Repeat is book 1. It’s about Ed and Clementine. Tattooed guys is a theme in both books. Pause is book 2. It’s about Lief. Lief is Ed’s brother.
I’m not sure who Tessa is since I haven’t read any prior books to this one. With that in mind I have to say starting Clementine’s character off with amnesia made it difficult to connect with both characters. His attitude towards Clementine ran both hot and cold. It would’ve been nice to have at least some knowledge of who these characters were before, rather than knowing them after, then trying to fill in the missing pieces.
It’s like solving a murder working your way backwards, yet the evidence doesn’t always fill in the answers correctly. Personally I believe most individuals deal with amnesia on some level considering very few people can remember themselves as toddlers or kids. Most memories begin much later in life therefore photos are what most use to prove certain events took place.
Ever want a redo on a relationship by making different choices and choosing a different path? Clementine gets that opportunity when amnesia strikes after being hit in the head. She gets to rebuild her relationships by making different choices.
I’ve read a few amnesia stories some better than others. Each one different and unique. This one doesn’t read as much like an amnesia storyline as it does as someone rebuilding their life as they grow from the mistakes they made in the past. Clementine might not remember why she broke up with Ed yet she’s back to correct the mistakes of her past choices.
People are always growing and changing some in good ways and some in bad ways. Some couples grow together and some grow apart. In this case Clementine gets a second chance to correct the way she behaved. While amnesia storylines isn’t an original concept Kylie made it her own. Was it believable? Only a smidge. It worked for what Kylie intended which was to change Clementine’s perspective towards Ed and build her confidence by giving her and the relationship a second chance to correct past mistakes. It was an okay read nothing monumental stands out about the content.
Interesting and romantic story that I definitely enjoyed. But the fact the characters didn’t know what they wanted half the time kind of ruined the enjoyment for me. But I still enjoyed the story.
A wonderful twist on a second chance romance story with an added mystery to the plot, too. Clementine was attacked and lost her memory so she is trying to piece together her life before the attack. She ends up reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend, Ed, who has been trying to move on with his life after Clementine broke his heart when she unexpectedly called things off with him a month earlier. Ed was such a wonderful, kind, and thoughtful character and despite the breakup, continued to care for and even protect Clementine. I loved the two of them together and the author did an amazing job with the character development for Clementine as she processes her life post-amnesia and decides who she wants to be going forward. Is this their second chance at a HEA? You’ll have to read and see. My first book by this author but not my last if this is the type of book she writes!
I love books that touch themes I don´t usually come across with. The ones that make me see the world in a different way after I read them. This was one of those books and I read it so fast, it seemed like it had 50 pages, although it is about 310 pages long.
The writing was just so flawless, gripping, funny and emotional all at the same time, I could only consume it like it was my last meal.
I am grateful for the opportunity of reading about the struggles people with amnesia have to go through in their search for a coping mechanism that lets them deal with a life without memories of their past, always depending on someone else to know what they liked or not, basically who they were. I loved Clementine’s persistence and fearless attitude, as well as Ed’s goodness toward her in his boyish way.
I totally recommend Repeat for every lover of contemporary romance!!
Repeat is a great second chance romance, it’s well written, intense, and very exciting! The heat between Clem and Ed is sizzling, throw in the mystery and danger, and I was hooked. Plus the wonderful Andi Arndt brought the story to life beautifully.
Kylie Scott is a new to me author and I can’t wait to binge read more of her books. I loved it!
This book starts off with Clem recently discharged from the hospital after a cruel attack that left her without any memory of her former life. She ends up at a tattoo shop and discovers that is where her ex boyfriend works. Ed is furious to see Clem because things ended badly but he manages to put his anger aside and help Clem fill in the missing parts of her memory.
The more she talks with Ed the more she thinks she was a horrible person before her attack and wonders why anyone even liked her. Now she is more relaxed and she has no problem saying exactly what she is thinking at the moment. After other attacks make it less likely that the attack on Clem was random, Ed offers for Clem to stay with him and keep her safe. With the close proximity and the lightness and openness of Clem’s new personality, Ed finds himself quickly falling in love with new Clem as much as he did with old Clem. But Ed still has questions about what happened at the end of their relationship, why did she stop trusting him. Together Clem and Ed rebuild the relationship they had prior while also trying to uncover everything that has gone wrong.
The mystery behind the attacks and what went wrong in Clem and Ed’s relationship was so thrilling and had me second guessing every character mentioned to see who could be behind this. I do wish there was a bit more drama involved in the end reveal but it still wrapped up nicely. This was my first book by Kylie Scott and certainly won’t be the last.
Sweet love story
I loved everything about this story! It was so original!!! I’ve never read a storyline like it before! I had no idea who the attacker was or even if it was intentional.
I really enjoyed the fact that as the reader you were in the dark along with the main character. It was so intriguing.
This is the first book I’ve read from Kylie Scott!
I loved her Stage Dive series but hadn’t really gotten into her other series (the one I tried was was like the walking dead). I purchased this since it was on sale and loved it! I wish listed for preorder the second book in this series as soon as I finished. Great second chance romance.
Kylie Scott has a way with words like no other author. She seems to get more precise with each book. I enjoyed Anna and Leif’s story but I felt like there could have been so much more to it. Like, what’s going on the the dad? What happened to the drug addict? What happened with the ex? Did Anna spend more time with the two girls from the shop?
Or his family? Did they like her? Just so much left unanswered for me.

I loved this book, it was such a nice and fast paced read. Just what I was in the mood for! And I can really be a mood reader, so this was perfect. It is an interesting setting where one of the main characters has no memory. She did break up with her boyfriend but doesn’t even remember why and now she is looking for some answers. The writing was good, there was enough mystery to want to keep on reading. The book is a kind of second chance romance, but also isn’t. I like that about it as well since it is different from a “normal” second chance romance. Overall, it was a good romantic second chance story and I recommend reading it.
A lot of my reviews are also available with photo at my Bookstagram: @justmyfantasyworld
Such an intriguing situation and handled with Ms. Scott’s usual flair for crafting very human characters in situations that have humor as well as poignancy! Well done, a fun read!
Fantastic story, gripping my heart the whole way. Clem had great taste in authors and I enjoyed her chemistry with Ed. They deserved their happily ever after.
It’s been a while since I’ve read this, but I wanted to come back and add a review. The thing is it only came out in 2019 and I know I’ve read it now at least three times! I’m a complete sucker for an amnesia book and this one just really called to me. A lot of them I can enjoy but they can be very unrealistic and involve a lot of suspension of belief to buy into the premises. With Repeat, it feels very real and is very well done. The other thing I really like in books is second chance or when you are dropped into a book where the couple are in the middle of their relationship- so often times you are delving deeper into what makes a couple work well together.
My recall is that you get all of that with Repeat. I loved the premise and the chemistry between Ed and Clementine, and you also have quite a bit of angst as Clementine can’t remember Ed and where there problems were. In addition you have a mystery going on, and I loved that we got to learn about Ed and Clementine as we read about Clementine discovering their relationship and finding herself in this new normal for her at the same time. HIGHLY recommend.
Loved this well written, second chance romance.
This is the first book I have read from this author but definitely won’t be the last!
The story line is full of intrigue, a few laughs and great characters.
Highly recommend.
This was an out of ordinary second chance romance. An amnesiac and an ex boyfriend try to rekindle a love that should never had ended. Why did their love stop, or is it a Who contributed to their loss? Was it evil, envy, lack of communication, insecurity, or was it being too involved in a career? Repeat, answers all of these questions.
I really enjoyed Repeat. I must admit to being a little confused during the first couple of chapters but then all was well. It was a lovely, easy story to read. I loved the characters, the storyline, and the bonus is that I didn’t have a clue who was guilty until it was revealed and enjoyed suspecting everyone.
I adore Clem and Ed. I’ve experienced similar to Clem, though my story is a little different to hers but that doesn’t mean that her recovery and behaviour following her traumatic event isn’t what would have unfolded. I obviously was devastated reading what she went through, but I was pleased she had people close to her that were there to help her through.
Ed is just fabulous in every way. I absolutely loved spending every moment in this story with him. Talented, sexy, caring and a great personality…. what more could any girl dream of!
The secondary characters definitely added to the story, and that includes Gordy too! I’m excited that Leif’s ebook and paperback is releasing soon. I cannot wait to get to know him better.
This is a great story that I would certainly recommend to fellow readers.
