Sam “Renegade” McGill became a mercenary after leaving the military and he’s happy running missions with his team until one day he receives a call from an old team member and friend who is now a cop. Sparrow asks him to repay an old debt by providing protection for his sister. Renegade figures it’s an easy way to pay Sparrow back and agrees to become Eliza’s bodyguard and keep her safe. After … safe.
After being assaulted, and left for dead, singer Eliza McKay wakes in the hospital to find her brother has arranged protection for her in the form of the sexy mercenary Renegade. They will have to stay together until the situation is resolved and the person who attacked her is found. Eliza takes one look at her hot bodyguard and realizes he’s just as alpha as her brother and while she doesn’t mind him guarding her body in the bedroom, there’s no way he’s going to tell her what to do outside of it.
Sparks fly between the two as the threat against Eliza intensifies. Eliza and Renegade need to put their differences aside and work together as danger stalks closer, and it’s not just Eliza’s life on the line.

Renegade (The Mercenaries Series Book 1) by Raven White
5 Stars
I struggled between 4 & 5 stars on this book…This is my first read by this author and I completely enjoyed it. I went with 5 stars because I was totally hooked on the story and how it was told and I did not want to put it down until I finished.
It was definitely predictable and I figured it out early on so there was really no twist for me as the clues were quite obvious. The only thing that kept nagging at me was the blizzard, her outside covered in snow and finding the truck key in her hand, this was never addressed, and kind of threw me off, but what had me most invested was the interaction between all the characters and the build up of what is ahead in the books to follow. I love this group of people and can’t wait to get each of their stories.
It was a quick and super simple read and there were plenty of scenes that had me blushing and I do recommend reading it because there is a ton of potential for an awesome series ahead.
Really enjoyed it!
This book was fun, flirty, and steamy. The military angle was slightly too far exaggerated but it was a fast and enjoyable read. The characters were likeable and I look forward to reading the next installment! Solid job. 3 stars.
Renegade (The Mercenaries Series Book 1) by Raven White suspense romance story that is a quick and easy read. I enjoyed this story but felt it could have been a little more rounded out in some areas. The characters are your typical alpha ex-military men, brothers in arms who will do anything for each other. I mean who doesn’t love to read about those types of men.
Eliza has always loved music, but she wakes in hospital not knowing what happened. Her brother decides he needs help to keep her safe. She is one sassy woman who doesn’t want help but is unable to make them see her point of view.
Renegade drops everything he is doing to help one of his brothers. His mission is to protect the beautiful woman someone tried to kill. But who will protect him from himself? Renegade soon gets much more than he bargained for.
If you enjoy sassy woman and military alphaness then grab a copy. It will entertain you for an afternoon escape.
I enjoyed this book. It is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more. This is a creative, well developed story that I couldn’t put down once I started it. It is full of action and romance, of course having a hot sexy hero made the story engaging. The characters had great chemistry and made the story realistic. What will happen when Renegade becomes a bodyguard to protect a friends sister? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens.
In this story you have an escape that you will not want to put down. It was a great story and I would recommend it.

This is the first book in the series and is Eliza and Renegade’s story. Overall this was a pretty good read and for me, I liked that Eliza could help protect herself I thought there was good chemistry between the characters and I enjoyed the storyline, I will be looking out for the rest of the series.
I wanted to like this story more, but it pushed the boundaries of belief. Renegade is your typical alpha male ready to step in and save the day. He is asked by a former brother in arms to protect Eliza from a stalker. I was relieved to find Eliza was not your typical damsel in distress that was unwilling to do anything to protect herself or had TSTL moments. This was not the case, but for someone that was in dangerous territory of puncturing a lung, having sex immediately after being discharged from the hospital was a bit much. She is also in hiding at a remote cabin, but goes outside during a blizzard because she heard a noise and wanted to investigate while leaving Renegade sleeping. This is glossed over as an acceptable occurrence. I liked the characters, but the story itself needed work.

This book held my attention from the very beginning. There’s a lot of action and some hot scenes between a very strong alpha male and a feisty female. Eliza is a singer with a band and is targeted by an unknown assailant, she ends up in hospital and her brother decides that she needs a bodyguard, he just happens to know who – Renegade. A very well told story with a lot of intrigue and a bit of suspense. I must admit that the identity of the perpetrator took me by surprise as it wasn’t who l thought it was! Enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next one.

This is a good book about a young woman (Eliza) who wins a contest and becomes a singer in a band. She gets viciously attacked and her police officer brother arranges for a mercenary named Renegade to protect her while they search for the attacker. Eliza and Renegade are very attracted to each other and eventually there are great sex scenes in the midst of other events, such as more attacks on her. I wish there had been more clues and/or more suspects to make it more fun for the reader to figure out who-dun-it, but when things start to happen, events are shocking and surprising. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy good romantic suspense novels. It’s a good length, too, not too long for the story to reach a conclusion.
