Mike-I may wear a badge, but I haven’t been on the right side of the law in years. There’s no coming back from the things that I’ve done. I’m cut from the same cloth as my old man and guys like us- we don’t deserve second chances. Why does she make me feel like I’m worthy of just that though?Lauren-My entire life had been a struggle until him.He makes me feel like I’m someone else…someone … him.
He makes me feel like I’m someone else…someone without a past. Officers are sworn to serve and protect, but I can’t shake the feeling that he’ll be the one to destroy me.

Holy frack balls what did I just read. ! This book had me from the beginning and by the end i was all but shouting holy cow except replace the word cow with something that sounds like pit lol. This was a great book really enjoyed it . It does end on a cliffhanger though so be warned. This is not your typical happily ever after story lots of dark moments abuse and cheating. both Mike and Lauren are victimes of their circumstances but by all means aren’t victims in themselves m they are strong relatable caring and capable people trying to prove something to themselves as well as those around them. I’m looking forward to reading book two i need to know what happens to them next .really an awesome read highly recommend this book.
Michael “Mike” Sullivan takes us to his past so that we can understand his present. Lauren McGuire’s teenage years were pretty rough but she found that she has someone in her corner. In a way their lives even though may seem polar opposite have some similarities.
What impressed me was we start off with two different stories. The author lets the reader get to know the characters as individuals. We get a peek into the ups and downs they went through in the past as they work their way to their present. Our past is what can shape our futures – it’s part of who we are. And it leads to where our two characters meet. It’s a story that seems so realistic. Don’t you ever look at a couple and wonder how they met? This does that for you as well as who they are before they meet. Then watch out after that first connection for the heat that starts to build. Does it build to an ending? No it builds to a wait and see. That was good because I wasn’t ready for their story to be over.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and what an awesome story this is!! This is Mike and Laurens’ story, and it is a well written flawless read which is raw, gritty, realistic, and powerful gem of a story. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I recommend for all MC lovers.
Love discovering new authors, this is the first book I read for this author
This book is a great beginning of a series, sexy, gripping, enticing..
Keeping glued the pages, intrigues you to keep turning the pages
…with an ending that has you picking you jaw off the floor, can’t wait to read the next book.. ~wtmo
Not your typical MC books
This is a different take on the MC genre. Mike is a complex character – more than I thought he would be. I enjoyed the twists and turns. Lauren broke my heart – she just wanted to be loved by her mother and to live a good life. This does end in a cliffhanger, but the next book is out now, so no need to get upset.
Renegade by Shannon Myers a fast paced and hard hitting five-star read. This is the first book in the renegade series and what a start, it’s such a great story, if you have read the Operation series then you will have seen some of the characters before but, this book they come into their own and we also get a little glimpse into that series again. Hopefully we will get some loose ends wrapped up, and the second book is released soon so I can’t wait.
Mike Sullivan is a man whose life isn’t going the places he thinks it should be, in all the characters I have read recently Mike is the one whom when I’ve seen him before I always thought aaggghhh douche canoe, but now I kinda have a soft spot for him. He has really grown on me, I can’t wait to see how he will keep growing and developing as this story grows.
Lauren Santiago has been through the wars and come out the other side a stronger person, but is she too strong now? Will she ever be able to soften and let someone in?
This was a great story of perseverance and making lemonade when life gives you lemons. I’m a glass half full type of girl, and I’ve always tried to encourage other people to do the same, this book gave me that in spades and showed me to get what you want you have to keep fighting and sometimes fighting isn’t enough. Will it be enough for Mike and Lauren? You will have to read the book to find out.
Well done Shannon Myers you have wrote a great story, I really wish more people knew about you as an author, as your talent needs to be recognised by so many more people.
“He reached out and lightly grabbed my upper arm. “Hey, Red, I’m messing with you. I’d screw you in the bathroom right now if you’d let me.” I expected him to laugh, but when I looked in his eyes, I realized he was serious. That was the moment I knew that I would never be anything more than a notch in Mike’s bedpost. It was also the moment that I decided, I was worth so much more than that. My four year-long fantasy came to an abrupt end right there on the patio of Nick’s.”
I genuinely have no idea how to approach this review and allow everything I feel to soak into it. I will say that Shannon absolutely outdid herself with the story, here. Mike is someone we met waaaaay back in From this Day Forward & Forsaking All Others, and he is a man that I’ve been DYING to know about since. We don’t get too much depth from Mike until You Save Me, but it still wasn’t enough to get a true picture of who he was.
When we begin Renegade, we’re thrown back through the timeline of some previous stories, and we get to see a different side. Learning about Mike’s past threw me for a loop! There is so much more to him than I ever dreamed possible. As he grows into a man, he is so often faced with hard choices, and he doesn’t always come out on the “good” side of them. There is absolutely nothing about this man that is simple. He is a contradiction wrapped in confusion. When you add Lauren to this equation, and her background as well, I was 100% sure I was not going to make it out of this story with my heart intact. And this isn’t one of those times where you’re certain your heart will just be broken a bit and then put back together, I wasn’t sure my heart was going to make it out AT ALL.
Lauren grew up with nothing. She spent her days fending for herself and trying to make it through life without anyone to support her. It wasn’t until she was almost grown that she finally found someone who cared enough to truly guide her through life. As she grew up, she finally found a way to make a decent life for herself. As she’s finding this life, she encounters Mike. When they first pop into one another’s life, it isn’t the ideal moment. Fast forward a few years, each of their best friends fall in love, so they are forced to keep each other’s company. This seems to play out in a semi-positive way, but it seems that neither of them are quite on the same level.
There is so much that goes on in this story, that I can’t begin to talk about all of it. I’m so afraid of giving anything away, that I’ve held back from going over too much of the storyline itself. I must say that this is one of the most intriguing character arcs I’ve encountered. Each of the characters in this story have faced so much in their past, and have so many possibilities for their futures, that I can’t begin to imagine where this story is headed. Renegade is a great story that I think everyone needs to check out. It has a bit of all the good parts of a story, and the realness of the grit that life can throw at us.
