Cascade Creek is the perfect home for Lynée Clark—the mountains, her friends, a cozy home, her dream job at the library. Life simply couldn’t be any more perfect. When a scruffy, tattooed man rides into town on his metallic stallion to arrest her best friend’s boyfriend, her perfect world is upturned into chaos. Everything goes wrong, her best friend is forced into hiding from a cartel assassin, … assassin, and her predictable days are thrust into upheaval. But the only way to bring home her friend and return her turbulent life back to normal is to help the DEA Special Agent on his case to uncover the truth. Which means spending a lot of time up close and personal with this bearded troublemaker in leather with zero manners and an addiction to cursing.
Jace Ivy has one mission: capture a rogue DEA agent that all others have failed to seize. After three months of tracking, Jace claims victory on his most difficult trace yet. Only to realize Reed Monroe might not be the double-agent his bosses claim. Thanks to a bloodthirsty cartel hitman, bumps in the road grow into massive roadblocks. Ones he can’t break down without the help of an unexpected research assistant, a local librarian who volunteers to help him so her best friend can return home. Lynée accomplishes much more than deciphering the mountains of evidence in his case, but also batters down his defensive walls and beastly façade. How can he resist turning Miss Prim-and-Proper into a seductive temptress with an equally dirty mouth?

Renegade is the 2nd book in the Cascade Mountain series. I loved the first book and this one lived up to it if not surpassed it. The drug cartel, assassins, murdered witnesses, a DEA Special Agent and the librarian sounds like the start to a bad joke but this motley group are the characters in this book. Jace picks up the search for the mole in the DEA. Armed with the information found by Reed and Skye and together with Skye’s vest friend, Lynee, Jace is out to get his man.
Lynee and Jace are opposites that click. She gives him hope and happiness and he gives her the ability to let loose. The barbs they toss when they first meet is humorous yet reveals the caring underneath. The story has lots romance although not always in the most conventional way.
The story is a standalone however the characters from the first book are important but you don’t need to have read it first. Most importantly the story which moves at warp speed ends with a happily ever after.
This is book two in the Cascade Mountain Manhunt series and it features Lynee and Jace. He’s found his rogue DEA agent and with him, the agent’s girlfriend and her best friend. The best friend, Lynee, grabbed his attention right from the start. So many pieces to put together and make sense of and as it turns out, Lynee is a master at doing just that. As they work together to find the mole, things definitely start heating up.
This is a fabulous second book in the series and the characters are fantastic!
Mia London and Susan Sheehey have written a brilliant story that has all the feels, well developed characters, action, and suspense in Renegade. Lynee is a smart, witty, sarcastic librarian while Jace is the broody and driven special agent with insecurities and trust issues. Lynee and Jace team up to find the truth behind Reed Monroe’s innocence and claim of a mole in the DEA. During the investigation, Lynee and Jace’s chemistry adds to the determination to reveal the mole and protect each other from the cartel. Renegade is the perfect continuation to Runaway in the Cascade Mountain Manhunt series.
What do you get when you put a DEA agent and a librarian together? Fireworks. Loved the second book in the Cascade Mountain duology. I’d love to have more in this world! (hint, hint 😉
Lynée is perfectly happy with her small town life. She has all the adventure she needs through her copious amounts of romantic suspense novels – a love she shares with her bestie. She is aware The Guy aka Reed is up to his neck in trouble and she was ready, willing and able to get stuck in to clear his name. Then a certain rough around the edges agent turned up and her life has got all sorts of crazy!
Jace looks more like a Biker than an agent. But when Reed manages to convince him that he’s not the bad guy he has been painted and that there is a mole somewhere in the agency, much higher up the tree than wither of them. Reed and Skye are hidden away from the world in a cabin belonging to Lynee’s family rather than a safe house. Why ? Cos Lynee is secretly a powerhouse of awesomeness that knocks Jace on his ass!!
Jace and his initially unwanted and unexpected research assistant soon make great inroads into the data Reed had collected. Bad guys aren’t the only things these two find though! This sweet little librarian is a total firebrand! Lynee could be every kind of stereotype about sexy librarians but she manages to come across really well. A victim of her own good girl image and the expectations she would go along with whatever her ex-husband wanted.
These two really make the pages burn hot!
Hot diggity!!! The saga continues . We pick up immediately where RUNAWAY left off with Reed being told he was under arrest. After all he and Skye had been through, and learned… Now he had to hope against hope that he could convince this DEA agent he was indeed innocent. Jace was already surly street chasing Reed for so long. However something in his story made him stop calling in to announce he caught his guy. Will they finally figure out who the mole in their agency is? True to book one, this one is filled with tons of suspense, deception, excitement and romance. Skyes BFF Lynnie might finally get her own romance. There was truly never a dull moment in this book!!!
