I loved this book. Definitely a page turner. I could not put it down. It was that good. Royden and Abby work so well together. I was hooked from start to finish.
Royden is a psychologist and a investigator for the police. Abby is an attorney. Abby and Royden are in a romantic relationship. Abby had been kidnapped and escaped. Now someone is trying to kill her. Abby’s brothers are bound and determined to find out who it is. Whoever it is, is following her and taking pictures of her. They know her every move. The McAllister brothers will do everything they can to protect their sister. Can the McAllister clan find out who is out to kill Abby, before it’s too late? Will Abby and Royden have a future together?
This book by Reily Garrett has mystery, romance, intrigue and twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I highly recommend this book. I loved it.
The series just seems to get better and better. Abbey is hurting, bad and Royden is there like always. The interaction because all the characters, even the secondary ones, is amazing.
Abby is the only sister of the McAllisters, and though she’s still recovering from recent events, she finds herself once again a target. Royden is her man and wanting nothing more than to ease her fears, but who is after her now? The story starts after her initial attack, from what I gathered, so while these books are stand-alone stories, they are connected with the members of the McAllister family. It’s sweetly steamy and suspenseful, with a good amount of action pushing along the fast pace of this story.
First book of this series for me and has me hooked and has expanded my TBR pile … a great page turner for me …wonderful characters and GREAT storyline!! If looking for a new series to keep u entertained for a bit this would be it!
4.5 stars (rounded to 5 stars)
I just love the McAllister clan! This is book six of a very enjoyable romantic suspense series featuring a family of five law enforcement brothers, one sister, and their significant others who joined the group over the course of the series. There are also minor roles in each of the books for their pets (several dogs plus a cat and a ferret) as well.
This installment features Abby, the sole sister who is a sharp, ball-busting attorney, and her love, Royden. Someone is after Abby and is going to great lengths to bring her down. It takes all of the McAllisters and their SO’s to pitch in to protect her. A major highlight of these tales is the wonderful camaraderie of the family. This and all the love, teamwork, and humorous bantering beg the question: Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this family?
Remnants of Evil has a complex and intriguing plot that captured my attention immediately. I thought the “three marks” aspect of the baddie’s plan was very clever. Ms. Reily also has a knack for writing suspense scenes that are goosie-inducers, and there are several of them in this story that got my heart going. In some of the author’s earlier books, description was a bit excessive for me, but there is none of that in this novel—the flow is perfect. And for all you romance fans, the sex scenes are awesome. More loving and caring than erotic—just the way I like them.
I loved the title, and it fits the plot perfectly.
I was sad on finishing this one. All six of the McAllister sibs have their forever loves now, and I fear this may be the end of the series. If it is the end, I would love to see a spinoff starring Katt (PI) and Lexi (hacker extraordinaire) and perhaps Abby (attorney) as well. Katt and Lexi have fabulous rapport. Of course the brothers could make appearances too, hint hint. Wishful thinking? I can only hope!
The McAllister Justice series is highly recommended to all fans of romantic suspense and tight-knit family camaraderie. The books can be read as stand alones, but to fully enjoy the relationships of this terrific family and a particular underlying plotline in the later books, I suggest they be read in order. And don’t forget the prequel, Tender Echoes, a meaty novella featuring Lexi that I really enjoyed.
I want to thank Ms. Reily Garrett for the joy and honor of being asked to beta read for her. It’s been a fun ride!
Abbey just wanted to escape it all – A chance to drown herself in adrenaline-inducing bucket list activities – A chance to forget – Literally drowning was not what she had in mind.
Royden just wants his girl back. He knows she is hurting, running from the nightmares that still hold her in their grasp. He will move heaven and earth to make her feel safe again. Question is will it be enough?
From the moment I opened this book, I was entrapped in Abbey’s journey. Who will be the next mark? Why those specific acts? How is she going to find her emotional footing if the darkness never lets her go? And most importantly can they stop whoever is behind this before he makes his final move?
Garrett weaves a suspenseful on the edge of your seat thriller with Remnants. From the opening chapter till that final exhale as you close the book she guarantees to entertain and engage her readers.
This is one of those series I honestly will need to go back and start from the beginning. There is a strong emotional connection between the supporting cast (her family, both two and four-legged) that transfers over in each of the episodes. The brothers have their own stories also but it all interconnects in a subtle ‘background’ way.
If plot twists, white knuckle on the edge of your seat action and sweet (steamy) romance sound like a “Yes, please” then I definitely recommend the McAllister Justice series.

Remnants of Evil is the sixth and final book in the McAllister Justice series written by author Reily Garrett. Each book in the series focuses on a different couple and can be read as a standalone romantic thriller. Even though this is true, I do believe reading the series in order will give you a greater foundation to understand and appreciate the backstories. Just know that it’s not mandatory.
Remnants of Evil tells the story of Abby McAllister and Royden Patterson. Abby is a lawyer and she is fiercely independent. She likes to push herself since she was kidnapped two months ago, and she still has nightmares about it. Her boyfriend Royden is a police officer and he’s partners with her brother, Billy.
When Abby becomes the target again, Royden and her brothers do everything they can to help protect her. Remnants of Evil is an amazing page turner and it had a great balance of suspense and humor. Knowing this would be the last book in the series, I felt kind of sad as I got closer and closer to the last page in the book. The ending was wonderful, and I loved every minute of it!

This was an interesting read from the outset, but due to not reading the previous books in this series, I came up short sometime. Wanting to know the full picture about not only the main characters but the side characters too.
I loved the start which was explosive getting you right into the story with a bang. A great thriller suspense novel.
What a story the finally McAllister sibling Abby has her story. Abby and Royden what a couple, smoking hot chemistry. A passionate and emotional tale. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down it so exciting, a thrilling and gripping story that draws you in. I just love this series so much Reily Garrett is a fantastic author.
Remnants of Evil is the sixth full-length and I believe the final book in the The McAllister Justice series by one of my favorite suspense writers, Reily Garrett. Each one can be read as standalone but they do intersect. If you want Royden and Abby’s full story then I suggest you first read Carbon Replacements.
Months after the scare of their lives, Royden and Abby decide to take a vacation. A much needed one. Only, it’s cut short due to a threat. An attempt on her life. They thought their lives were back to normal but they were very wrong. It was about to get a hell of a lot more twisted.
Abby is a lawyer and used to a good fight. She wasn’t going to let some psycho take her independence away. She knew her overprotective brothers and boyfriend would be watching her even if she doesn’t see them. Even if she tells them not to. She would never admit it but she loved that about them. And it helped that their better halves were the same way. Hackers and all were badass and helpful. In an illegal way. Lol
I don’t want to spoil anything so I leave it at that. I will say that there are lots of twists and turns. I read it pretty quickly since I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. And it was brilliant to get the killer’s POV.
Overall…it’s a suspenseful, sexy, at times even a funny ride. I loved the characters. The family bond. The story. The heat. The laughs. The twists.
Quotes:
“We’ll see this through, Abby, whatever it is.”
…It’s a scare tactic, cowboy, and I won’t scare so easy.”
She loved the taste of him, the sight of his losing control, and the knowledge he would always be there to catch her.
This is my first book by Reily Garrett, even though it was book 6 in the series I enjoyed this story. I will have to go back and read the first books to learn more about the McAllister for sure.
Royden and Abby are working together to find out who kidnapped her and is now stalking her. But not only are they working they are in love and Royden will do anything to keep Abby safe. But having a strong willed, hard headed girlfriend is tough to keep her safe at all times. Abby wants to get rid of the nightmares and find out who’s trying to hurt her and her brothers. She will not stop digging until she finds the truth and gets rid of her demons.
The McAllister brothers will do everything in their power to keep Abby safe too. They are everywhere and along side Royden and Abby they will find who is trying to ruin Abby.
Love this family. After each book I think it was my favorite, but Abby’s was definitely my favorite. Oh the suspense – I felt like I was tense the whole time, but in a good way 😉 I really love suspense! I feel a connection to Abby. I wish I were more like her 🙂 I read the end of the book as slow as I could – I did not want it to end, but it was a perfect ending. I received this ARC for an honest review.
Right in the path of disaster, can she survive the tornado headed for her???

What did I like? Even though I know that they are just characters in a book, I just can’t help myself, I love those boys and every one of their soulmates. This book is by far the best in the series with everything so ramped up and scary! I cried from fear and for the girls…. Held my breath and almost forgot to breathe. Wow, what a book!!!
What will you like? Holy smokes, the unbelievable action, incredibly scary, enormously emotional and an amazing storyline. Most of all the characters, the sexiest and adorable brothers, smart, strong and amazing soulmates for each of the brothers and the hunkiest boyfriend for the sister. All this makes up the most wonderful family of the McAllister ’s. Grab a box of tissues and your heart pills because this book is going to take you on the ride of your life. The ending will blow you away!!!!!! Make sure you’re ready for the best read of 2019. I received this ARC from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

Loved reading this book. Rollercoaster of emotions is a understatement. I loved the chemistry between the partners and the respective characters and I’m hoping there’s more to come on these characters I would love to read more.
