I loved Remind Me by Samantha Chase, the first book in the Magnolia Sound series. It is a lovely second chance romance. Who doesn’t love a second chance at love. The prequel to the series, Sunkissed Days was free on Amazon and Remind Me was $0.99, so I decided to give the series a try. Besides Sunkissed Days, I had only read one other book by Samantha Chase and really enjoyed it. Remind Me, will definitely not be the last book that I read by Samantha Chase. I really enjoy how she writes her stories from the perspective of the main characters. Samantha Chase has proven to me that she is a master storyteller. Remind Me takes place four years after the end of Sunkissed Days. The story begins with Hurricane Ameilia quickly approaching landfall near Magnolia Sound, and Zeke Coleman adamant that he is not leaving his house. Jake Summerford boards up his home and decides to ride out the hurricane with Zeke in his home. During the night Zeke dies in his bed. It is up to Jake to inform Zeke’s family that he has died and Jake discovers him when he assessing the damage to the house caused by the hurricane. Mallory Westbrook, had not returned to Magnolia Sound at all this year and has not seen Jake since they day they broke up. Mallory just received a promotion that she had been hoping for at work and will spend two weeks in Magnolia Sound to bury her great-grandfather and get things in order. Mallory is not sure how she will react when she she’s Jake for the first time. Jake’s parents have moved to Arizona, so he purchased their home. Jake and Mallory take their second chance at love even knowing that Mallory will return to her job in New York, once everything regarding her great-grandfather’s estate is settled. Jake is left Coleman Construction and Mallory was left her favorite store in Magnolia Sound. Mallory will have someone run the business for her and return monthly to place orders, and handle other issues. Remind Me is filled with bittersweet and poignant moments. I love how Samantha always includes a little surprise. Mallory changes her mind and returns to Magnolia Sound. Remind Me was a wonderful second chance romance and I could not put it down. Looking forward to reading Sam and Shelby’s story, A Girl Like You.
Wow, have your tissues on hand for this one!
Mallory is back in Magnolia Sound for her Great Grandfathers funeral, as is Jake, the one that hurt her and left her behind. The attraction is still there between them, can they do this once again or will Jake let her return to NY without ever expressing his true feelings for her! Read along as they navigate their relationship and try to come to terms with whats really going on, while grieving the loss of her great grandfather. 5 stars, this story was amazing and I can’t wait for more from this author and Magnolia Sound!!
GAHHHH! This was the perfect conclusion for Mallory & Jake! I really like that while they had issues to work out that they didn’t make it overly complicated & angsty. It showed how they’ve matured. This book definitely brought tears to my eyes (Pops!). I’m looking forward to Sam’s book!!
This was a very sweet second chance romance. I adored everything about the small town setting, and I doubt anyone could resist the charms of Grandpa Zeke. Family dynamics were completely on point, and the tension / reunion between Jake and Mallory was very exciting to watch unfold!
I am really excited to go discover the prequel that shows their relationship when they were young and I’ll be anxious to get my hands on the next installment to see what the author has planned for Mallory’s brother Sam.
Recommend if you like small town drama and sweet / sexy second chances!
Remind Me is the first full-length novel in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series, and it’s the perfect book if you are looking for a Second Chance Romance or even Small Town Romance story.
If you read the prequel story Sunkissed Days, then you would’ve been introduced to Mallory and Jake already. If you didn’t then don’t worry you will get caught up in Remind Me on what happened to these two characters. I enjoyed reading the prequel because it introduced not only the main characters of this book but other characters as well in the series. One of my favorites happened to be Zeke the Great Grandfather who happens to play a significant role in this book. It’s a short role, unlike the prominent role he played in the prequel. I loved Zeke though because he’s the family member that everyone loves and wants to hang out with for all his stories and advice.
Mallory looks up to her Great Grandfather and loves him dearly, but ever since her relationship with Jake went downhill six years ago, she hasn’t made much of an attempt to visit her Great Grandfather during the summer as she used to every year with him. Now she’ll never have a chance to since Zeke has passed away during a hurricane. She’s back in Magnolia Sound, and she’s learning that her Great Grandfather had some secrets hidden from the family and even from her. She’s also learning that Jake is someone she can lean on during this time that she’s grieving her Great Grandfather’s death, mainly since he was there when he passed away. Although, it’s kind of difficult to keep what happened between them six years ago from appearing again. Mallory still has feelings for Jake, but she has no idea how Jake feels about her.
Both Jake and Mallory have a lot of back and forth in the story, so be prepared for some past moments brought up between the two, especially if you read the prequel story. There were times I wanted to knock some sense into those two. They just needed to get over the past and move into the future. I know one person who got them moving into the future though. I loved how he did it too, but I won’t get into it. I loved how Samantha Chase opened up the series by introducing a big family, but with a heartfelt story and how a Great Grandfather got his family got back together. He’ll be my favorite no matter what out of all of them.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series now since I got a sneak peek of it at the end of Remind Me. Here’s hoping they get their happily ever after and they keep their inheritance that Zeke left them that they found out he left them during the reading of the will.
Story Rating: 4 stars
Steaminess Rating: 3 stars
Standalone or part of series: First book in the Magnolia Sound series. There’s a prequel before the full-length, but you don’t have to read it. Although, it does introduce Mallory and Jake’s summer fling together. It flows into Remind Me. I’m one of those that likes to read in order. Not sure if you like to read in order to with series books.
Do I recommend this book? Yes.
Will I read other books from the author? Yes.
Tropes/Elements: Second Chance Romance; Small Town Romance.
I received a copy for review purposes.
Sunkissed Days was our introduction to Mallory, Jake, and Magnolia sound and Remind me is their reintroduction a year later. I love Samantha’s writing and I am so happy to get a new series and an entire new set of characters. As I read her stories I fall into the worlds that she creates and the characters become like friends and family in my head. Mallory, Jake, and the rest of the Magnolia Sound characters are quickly becoming part of me. I enjoyed the story and you should grab it and start your introduction to the series and Magnolia Sound.
I devoured this book. These characters are sweet, real, and heartbroken. Years ago Jake and Mallory fell in love during a summertime romance and their hearts have never been the same. They parted ways, not on the best of terms. A storm is set to hit Magnolia Sound, the place of summer love, and her great-grandfather dies forcing her to return to the place where she met her first love.
This book is a second chance romance book. I had read the book before this one and knew what the characters had gone through to get where they were in their current lives. The best thing is that the first book didn’t have to be read to know these characters. Samantha tells their story perfectly. She lets the readers in on what they had to give up to get where they were in life. She didn’t give them perfect lives but she gave them both lives that they had to work to achieve. They both knew they were missing something important and there was no doubt what it was.
I love how Jake was pushy. He didn’t let Mallory put him off, he didn’t let it be a week long fling, and he didn’t accept that she could go back to New York and live her life being happy without him. Yet, he let her find her way. He accepted that she had to make her own decisions he just helped her to make the decisions that led to the two of them coming together. I also loved how Mallory was careful. Her heart was broken the first time they came together and she had to do what she could to protect it this time.
This book is an amazing start to a series and I have to tell you that it was a phenomenal read that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time hoping and praying that Mallory would let Jake back in. In love we sometimes make mistakes everyone deserves a second chance except for abusers I say its a no go with abusers but when you make a simple mistake out of fear then you deserve a second chance.
This this is Jake and Mallory’s second chance even though all Mallory wants to do is come back to town and bury her great-grandfather and take care of his things and get back home as soon as possible so she doesn’t have to see Jake and have her heart open to those old wounds but life is funny because Jake is waiting for her and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get Mallory back.
This is an amazing story that pulls the strings of your heart and you will fall in love with Jake and Mallory if you haven’t already from the previous book they were in. So go ahead and one click this one and sit back and enjoy the romance ride!
Sunkissed Days really set me up for Remind Me and I was so excited to see what was happening in Magnolia Sound and let me tell you this book was everything I expected and more !!!
Mallory Westbrook is back in Magnolia Sound to get her grandfathers affairs in order, she figures two weeks should be enough time to get everything settled and then she can head back to her life in New York well that was ok until Jake Summerford got involved and the man who broke her years ago has managed to mess with her life once again…..
Jake is determined that now Mallory is back in town to make things right between them because he has always regretted how it ended but can Mallory put the past behind them ……
I loved this book it gave me all the feels I want in a great read, I smiled, I sighed and I had a few gasps as I got to know Mallory and Jake story. This book has really set the pace for a great series, characters with depth and chemistry and a town I’m sure we would all love to live in. Looking forward to more from Magnolia Sound. This is a must read for all romance lovers
5 REMIND ME STARS!!! What fantastic start to this new series. This author writes the best beautiful heartfelt book I have ever read. Mallory and Jake’s story was perfect it had me flipping pages and loving every minute. Looking for southern charm that will hit all the emotion buttons…..here you go.
A Second Chance Romance!
Remind Me is the continuation of Sunkissed Days and the story of Jake Summerford and Mallory Westbrook. Jake and Mallory have heartbreak breakup at the end of Sunkissed Days. Years later, Mallory comes back to Magnolia Sound after the death of her great-grandfather. When the two come face to face, there is attraction and chemistry galore. And Jake is determined not to lose Mallory again.
This book had a little of everything. I loved, laughed, cried, chewed my lips, and then cried some more. As with all the books I’ve read by Samantha Chase, I felt totally involved in this story from page 1 through to the end.
The new series by Samantha Chase is filled with romance, sweetness, sadness and trying to live up to a beloved man. Mallory and Jake are perfect for each other yet pride pulled them apart. Now Jake, have to say is one determined man and Mallory stubborn as well. The chemistry is all there but rekindling their love is going to be something Jake and Mallory will not see coming. This is just book 1 and cannot wait to see what happens with Sam next. Great way to start the series.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
It has been six year since Jake and Mallory’s summer romance. Her heart breaks a little more every time she thinks about it. The thought of seeing him even caused her to not visit her great grandfather this past summer. When Hurricane Amelia threatened the North Carolina coast and her family’s home town, her mother contacted her to help convince her great-grandfather to evacuate to somewhere safe. When Mallory was unsuccessful she swallowed her pride and called Jake for his help. He could not change Zeke’s mind about leaving but vowed to stay with him to make sure he was ok.
Mallory spent the next 3 days watching the weather network hoping that the storm miss Magnolia Sound or at least downgrade to a smaller storm. When the worst of the storm was over Mallory received the worst news. Her Great-grandfather had gone to sleep and not woke up. In some way he must have known it was his time. When Mallory arrives to Magnolia Sound to be with her family and mourn her great-grandfather’s death she meets up with Jake. Angry words lead to the knowledge that their feelings for each other have not changed. With the reading of Zeke’s will the entire family’s lives are turned upside down. How will everyone deal with these changes, and will these changes finally allow Jake and Mallory to be together forever?

Sam and Mallory have history – a summer romance that ended in heartbreak years ago. Looking back did it have to end the way it did? As time has gone by their perspectives have changed but while Jake thinks it was necessary to end things despite how much he loved her, will Mallory ever be able to see past her broken heart?
If you read the prequel, Sunkissed Days, and got to see their summer love, this story will warm you from the inside out. My heart broke at the end of that portion of their story and I was wondering how this continuation would go. Though we are picking up six years later I loved how we got to see both sides of the argument from all those years ago. As expected from the ending of a young love, there were things said and done that were – in hindsight – not the best move on both sides. Mallory threw her fit and when she realized there was more to the story and tried to backtrack, Jake pushed her away. Ultimately they both regret it but can they really move on?
I loved these two together. It broke my heart that Zeke passed on though I loved the poignant way that he did. Poor Jake had so much to deal with losing his mentor and feeling like everything was off in his world. Then Mallory came crashing back and rocked his world. It took Mal a bit longer than Jake to come around to things though I loved that her mom wanted to help and Jake talked her out of if. It was nice to see that Jake wanted him and Mal to make decisions for them – not for what everyone else might want. I did want to shake Mal a time or two for being so set in her life plan (though it was apparent that had been driving Sam crazy for years) and Jake for getting in his own way too many times.
When Sam finally seemed to come around and talk things out with Jake toward the end of the book it made my heart happy – I hated that those two had parted ways and it seemed like maybe they were going to be ok from here on out. Plus the unknown gift from Zeke was heartwarming and was something that Jake needed – being told once again that he really was family.
I could go on, but I won’t…much. I loved this book and cannot wait to learn more about this world. I have so many questions about the town, the hurricane recovery, all the cousins (especially Mason), but most of all – I cannot wait for Sam’s story! I absolutely recommend Samantha Chase’s new series and suggest starting with the prequel – it helps paint a picture of Magnolia Sound and this world before tragedy strikes. You can get away with reading this as a standalone, but you won’t regret reading them in order!
Remind Me was a cute, quick read. If you read the prequel, Sunkissed Days, you already know Mallory and Jake and what happened with them. Or most of the story. They had a summer romance that wasn’t supposed to turn into something big like it did. They both had to go off to school at the end of the summer on different sides of the country and likely had a bit of growing up to do before they could really try and make it work. Only things didn’t end on the best of terms and Mallory has been avoiding Magnolia Sound as she doesn’t want to run into Jake again. Jake who was her crush forever and she can’t really deal with seeing him anymore.
Jake is a good guy, but even though he cared for Mallory a great deal he knew he had to make some tough decisions and ultimately ended up hurting her. He never thought that she would avoid Magnolia Sound like she has because of him. He has never stopped thinking about her, but he doesn’t know how to make things right.
When Mallory’s great grandfather passes away whom she was incredibly close with she has to come back to Magnolia Sound. And see Jake. She doesn’t want to make the same mistakes she did in the past, but she only has to make it through this time here and then she can go off to her life and never see Jake again. Only Jake realizes that Mallory has always been it for him so he has to try and make her see that they are perfect together. Make her forgive him and figure out a way to make this work. They still have the distance issue as her life is far away, but he is determined to figure it out. They were cute together and I enjoyed seeing them grown up more and basically being in the same situation again and how they handled it so much better. It was a cute, quick, fun read.
*Note: I received a free copy of this book for voluntary review consideration
“Remind Me” written by Samantha Chase ids the first book in the Magnolia Sound Series. This is an awesome start to this new series. “Remind Me” can easily be read as a standalone but if you want the backstory on Jake and Mallory’s relationship you should read the prequel “Sunkissed Days”. You can read in one sitting which is what I did, I didn’t want to put it down. This book has it all second chances, loss, heartbreak and new beginnings. It is a story of family and friendships. Samantha Chase has well developed characters and an emotional storyline. I can’t wait to see what is next in this series. I highly recommend this book and series.
Jake & Mallory were introduced to us in Sunkissed Days . This continues their story several years down the road. Mallory’s grandfather passed away & she came home for the funeral & to help her mother. She just hoped she wouldn’t run into Jake while she was home. Fate was not on her side. Jake was managing the construction repairs on the house & she ran into him every time she turned around. Can they manage to get over their past? Or will Mallory head back to New York & not give their relationship a chance?
Remind Me is a story of young love and comes no of age. In Sunkissed Days, Mallory came across as someone who was spoiled & immature. She wanted Jake to change his plans while she didn’t give up anything. At the beginning of this story, I really didn’t think Mallory had grown up very much. She was remembering her side but not acknowledging the position Jake was in. As the story went on, you could see her viewpoint widening and maturing. The characters are well developed & inspire an emotional response in the reader. The plot moves at the perfect pace. The prose is descriptive enough that the reader can develop pictures of the scenes in their minds as they read. In the aftermath of a hurricane & the grandfather’s death, the scene is set for another terrific series.
After meeting Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford in Sunkissed Days in Samantha Chase’s newsletter and later released as a novella, I could not wait to get the rest of their story. Sunkissed Days was sweet and charming, but we finally get to catch up with them in Remind Me and see where their journey will take them.
This story picks up years later. You do not need to read Sunkissed Days to read Remind Me, however, you do get more background on the characters and how their story started. Mallory Westbrook was left heartbroken after the perfect summer with Jake in Magnolia Sound. Now she needs to go back to put her great-grandfather’s affairs in order. Her plan is to get it done and never return.
But plans do not always go as you want them too. Mallory is not the same sweet and innocent girl she was that summer she spend with Jake. But old feelings are hard to ignore. One of Jake’s biggest regret was how things ended with Mallory. Can this be his second chance to show her how good they can be together? I am loving this series and its characters. I am excited to read more!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
With the death of her great-grandfather, Mallory needs to return to Magnolias Sound and face the one man she has always loved but walked away from. Jake wishes things could be different with Mallory but understands that her life is in NY. But what starts off as a simple no strings attached connection ends in both wanting more. Will Mallory leave magnolia Sound once again or will the items left to her in her great-grandfather’s will start the foundation for her to stay? Once again Samantha Chase brings the reader into a world filled with great characters and emotional storylines. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!!
GREAT story!! This is the conclusion of Jake and Mallory ‘s story and it was sooo good!! It was heartbreaking, sweet, romantic, fun and a page turner. This is only the start of what I can say is going to be a GREAT series and I can’t wait for the next book!!
