Deborah Raney writes about real life situations that are not easy. They are somewhat romantic but deal with the situations in an inspirational way, giving us truth while entertaining us.
How does someone get out of an abusive situation. Maggie is given a unique way! The story describes the thoughts and feelings of someone who had been stuck for too long. Some of the situations are a little far fetched but it is a good read and enjoyable.
A different look at domestic abuse
which relates victim guilt. The author
developed a character driven story with an inspirational message. I do recommend this book.
Best book I’ve read in a long time. Enjoyed every minute of it.
Great book, kept my attention to the end.
Slow start but good book
Wonderful author & I love her stories
I enjoyed reading this book.
I liked the characters in this book and enjoyed the read. It hit on some real-life issues, yet wasn’t stressful.
Though it felt like a happy ever after ending was on it’s way, I enjoyed the characters, the journey and a surprise in how it ended
This was an excellent book in that the author really made me feel the fear the abused woman felt and how that fear affected her actions. Having known women in such circumstances gave me more of a first hand look.
Not all such situations work out in the same way.
Really enjoy her novels and this one was no exception. Good read!
The car jacking and then the race to get away seemed a bit forced but I read on because I liked the heroine and wanted to know what happened to her.
Not too realistic. But I enjoyed it
This was a good book with a little different plot , really a nice book with a sweet ending.
Maggie escapes an abusive relationship in a most unusual manner; her car is car-jacked and she is left with choice of contacting abusive partner to come get her or run while she can. Maggie makes the right choice even though she is doubt-filled and considers going back to a sick relationship when she encounters difficulties during her escape efforts. Through a series of accidental changes in schedule, Maggie lands in small-town, Clayburn, KS where she meets Trevor and a host of loving considerate characters. Maggie’s many lies to prevent knowledge of her former relationship create the conflict of the story. Trevor proves to be the opposite of Maggie’s previous experiences with men. An interesting aspect in the story is to see the development of Maggie’s character as she becomes the woman she never thought possible before her encounters in Clayburn, KS.
Allegorical
I enjoyed this book a lot and looking forward to its sequel! The characters are believable and interesting. It is an encouragement to live a Christian life and to depend on the Lord as we experience difficulties!
I have enjoyed EVERY book I have read by Raney!!
Wonderful story of redemption & forgiveness
