BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Sophie Kinsella’s Wedding Night. With the same wicked humor and delicious charm that have won her millions of devoted fans, Sophie Kinsella, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Shopaholic & Baby, returns with an irresistible new novel and a fresh new heroine who finds herself in a life-changing and utterly hilarious predicament….When … hilarious predicament….
When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.
Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.
Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

I love Sophie Kinsella’s books and while the Shopaholic series has always been an iconic favorite of mine, there’s something about Remember Me? that always makes it stand on among Kinsella’s impressive backlist. While Remember Me? shares the same wit and verve that makes Kinsella a favorite among readers looking for a clever and fun read, there’s a relatable layer to this book that really strikes a chord so many women can identify with–the idea of finding yourself and reinventing yourself when the life you’re leading is no longer the life you want. While the concept of waking up with amnesia is approached with a quirky and comedic tone, the layers beneath it are really poignant and powerful, and Kinsella does such an amazing job of balancing both tones while maintaining her delightful voice. Honestly, this book just has SO much humor and heart. It’s one of those books that has stayed with me because of that heart and I love to reread it.
The characters are really well done and relatable. There’s a beautiful romance that threads through this story about self-discovery and it is a wonderful complement to the heroine’s journey. There are plenty of comedic escapades that will keep you smiling and laughing, but also a fair share that will leave you with a lump in your throat. This book really is a special read and I can’t recommend it enough.
I always love any book by Sophie Kinsella and really enjoyed this unique take on a character who has memory loss and basically wakes up a totally different person. How fun and terrifying that would be! As always, the read is funny with laugh-out-loud moments and relatable characters.
Covid has me in the mood to reread books I associate with comfort. Though it’s been a few years, “Remember Me?” didn’t disappoint. Complete with an amnesia meme, I very much enjoyed the narrator in this book of romantic women’s fiction. Still love the sunflower cover, too.
Sophie Kinsella is one of my favourite authors, amnesia is a trope I can’t resist, so what could go wrong? Nothing! REMEMBER ME? is a brilliant book; my only regret is not having read it sooner. I purchased the paperback several years ago, and I guess I was waiting for the perfect moment to read it.
If you like the book description and Sophie Kinsella, there’s no need to add anything else; read it. REMEMBER ME? is super fast-paced, as always very well written, and so clever and witty. A couple of passages are so funny that I had to put the book down to recover from the hilarity. There are also some very emotional scenes, and the ending was not quite what I expected; it was better! And the cover is perfect.
It also dawned on me that this is not just a book about amnesia, it’s also indirectly about those “What was I thinking?” times. Once again, Sophie Kinsella has written a book with fabulous characters we can identify with to some extent, and along with the laughs are amazingly insightful observations. I devoured REMEMBER ME? and I will treasure it always. Absolutely outstanding!
Such a fun book to read! Kinsella adds twists and turns laced with her trademark humor.
I haven’t laughed so hard reading a book until I read this one! This is definitely one of my favorites!
Perfect read, one of my absolute favorite books!
I love everything by Sophie Kinsella so maybe I’m not the best judge. I’ve read this book maybe three times and listened to the audiobook at least that many times. This author is just plain funny but not ridiculously so. Her female characters always get caught up by some problem or another and manage to get out of it, maybe not in the most realistic way but it still makes great reading, if you ask me. And listening to the audiobooks with the narrator having a British, Irish or Scottish accent is just a delight to me.
This is one of her older ones that I just now read, but it’s so good! I loved every bit of it.
Sophia Kinsella’s books are always entertaing.
I loved, loved, LOVED this book! I wish that I could give it a 10! I enjoy Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic books and this book was brilliant! It takes a lot to get me to laugh out loud, but I did several times with this story. I HIGHLY recommend this terrific!
I’ll never forget reading this book on the train to work. It was SO funny that I laughed out loud and everyone gave me odd looks…maybe read this in private if that makes you uncomfortable!
Mild spoiler:
My absolute favourite line (and this is from memory, so don’t quote me on this!) is when she’s looking at the footage from the charity event and she says, “I remember that guy! I think I met him at a hospital or a casino or something,” and her husband says, “That’s George Clooney.”
I’m laughing out loud, now, just from remembering it. 😀
Same great writing. Super cute book.
I love Sophie but could not get into this one at all. I don’t love amnesia stories, so I should put that out there… but it was a frustrating read for me.
Funny book in the beginning and end. Kind of dragged in the middle but picked back up. Loved the romance towards the end. Always a fan of her books!
I didn’t just read this…I devoured it. I’m not normally a reader of chick lit, but this was hanging out at my neighborhood’s Little Free Library, so I thought I’d give it a chance. Glad I did! It’s funny, easy-to-read, and has a great message about living true to yourself without ramming that message down your throat.
The premise is that the main character wakes up in a hospital with amnesia. I know, this seems like such a cliche, but Kinsella handles it well. The MC can’t remember the past three years during which she’s gone from being fun, single, easy going, working class to super rich, married, and apparently the uptight boss from hell. The book focuses on her trying to figure out why she’s changed so much and the reality of her life.
My only complaint is the book does feel REALLY repetitive in some parts.
Sophie Kinsella just writes fun, funny, light-hearted reads. This one is no different. Its a case of amnesia and does the heroine really want the life she wakes up into? A great quick read.
Great read!!
A good “fluff” book– you need those once in awhile! The characters were shallow, predictable, and at times over-the-top absurd. But I still enjoyed it… Kinsella leaves just enough mystery to keep you turning pages to find out what happens next. It’s set in 2004 and 2007 Britain, and I was there in 2003 and 2005, so it was quite familiar to me (LOVE the Britishisms!). And although for most of the book, I was having a hard time believing that pre-accident and post-accident Lexi were so diametrically opposed, I was impressed that Kinsella gave her a compelling reason for having done such a complete 180. I figured up until that point that it was gonna have to be one of those “suspend your disbelief” kinds of things.
Love Sophie Ki
