This book is the geeky/nerdy romantic comedy I’ve been searching for. Melody is a girl after my own heart, and Jeremy is what I consider a truly swoon-worthy romantic hero: flawed but trying to be better, nice, considerate of Melody, and respectful of women in general. There are some deliciously feminist notes woven into the story, particularly with regard to Melody’s rant about missing female action hero toys. I honestly wish I could go out and get a coffee with Melody and chat with her about the unfairness of the missing Rey figures. If you’re a geek and/or nerd who loves romantic comedies, this is the book for you. I devoured it.
I was in a book rut and hoped that a new author, to me, would help get me back in the groove. And as a debut novel? Remedial Rocket Science was a pleasant surprise and I really enjoyed it. I have a soft spot for geeks and I really liked Melody Gage. She is really a good person, goes thru some growing pains, and takes a new job where she can make her way in the world of IT. And she runs into a one night stand, from long ago, named Jeremy…who also happens to be a billionaire playboy (SO like the “boy” she met back in college) and the son of the CEO of her new company. I found the book fun, sexy, sweet, and even had the parts where you want to slap the hero upside the head. All good things in my world. I really enjoyed it and hope the author continues to write and grow – I know I’ll be on the lookout for any new reads from her.
