I absolutely loved Relentless In Texas! This was like being in a play and being a part of every act. Vivid and emotional, no matter the scene or the scenery. The characters were all so very much alive, popping from the pages. The storyline exceptional–full immersion for me. I wasn’t really ready to leave those Sanchez boys yet either, though it was a sweet happy sigh ending for Gil and Carma.
Finally, Gil gets his happily ever after in so many ways, I’m bursting to blurt it all out. I can hardly explain in words, how I felt while reading this. For the jist of this journey read the blurb, then multiply it by 10 on everything. Ms. Dell writes from her heart and doesn’t let up until she gets it just right. She knows all things cowboy, rodeo, American Native plus more, and it certainly shows up in these pages.
Carma is what I would call a healer, along with many other talents. When her and Gil met, they started something they didn’t get to finish. This is where, I believe karma stepped in. Not an insta love at all, lust yes, but each had baggage, and were their own worst proponents.
A riveting journey, it was not all sunshine and roses. Many old familiar characters, plus a few newer ones rounded it out nicely. Beni and Quint made it even better. Their too smart young teen selves always had a comeback, sometimes even sagely, but often they had me LoL’ing! Small towns and extended families, need I say more?
I think this is my favorite book by far with the depth I felt here. A stand alone with it’s own HEA in an awesome series
If you’ve never read this series, do yourself a favour. It’s awesome. Nobody writes rodeo books like Kari Lynn. You can almost taste the dirt.
Really enjoyed this sexy, fun and action packed adventure filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Was a great reading from beginning to end.
RELENTLESS IN TEXAS by Kari Lynn Dell is the final saga of the Texas Rodeo series. A must read! Gill Sanchez, once a rodeo’s biggest and baddest hotshot, is thirteen years sober and finally free of pain that ended his career. Carmelita White Fox comes from a Blackfeet family noted for its healing abilities, but even she knows better than to try to fix this scarred, cynical, and incredibly sexy cowboy.
Kari Lynn Dell is an extraordinarily writer who creates well-developed and vibrant characters, ignites some sizzling heat into Gil’s relationship with Carma, and brings the authenticity into the rodeo setting. RELENTLESS IN TEXAS is about Gil’s second chance at love and getting back into the saddle to reclaim a long-lost dream.
Love, love, love this book!
Kari Lynn Dell writes her life experiences in her books, making the characters and story line real for the reader.
The main character, Gil Sanchez, has been in other books in the Texas Rodeo series, and I was glad the author revealed more about his background. A chance meeting with Carmelita White Fox turns into a love story but it has many real-life twists and turns before they reach their connection.
This was a split-decision read for me. This moves pretty slowly and until things get going and I had to work at keeping my attention focused on this read. The characters were complex, unique and interesting. I thought that they had good chemistry but I wish that I had felt more of an emotional connection between them. In the end I thought that this was a good book that wasted a lot of its potential. This is my forthright review that I am posting of my own accord.
Gil and Carma have so much in common for not even knowing the other exists and when they finally meet – the sparks fly and how they can be so compatible and work well together even when he wants to micro manage – the writing is great as always – loved reading this beta version and my opinion is freely given
I was glad to finally read Gil’s story. The rest of the books in this series have been great. A former alcoholic and his rodeo career ruined by injury Gil is an angry man. Few people can get close to him. Then he meets Carma. She is a healer from the Blackfoot tribe. Slowly she worms her way into his heart and he into hers.
Kari Lynn Dell is an author that I have newly discovered. Though she has her own wonderful style of writing her books remind me of a favorite paperback author of mine, Kathleen Eagle. Relentless in Texas is similar in that the story combines the culture of rodeo with the Native American culture. Carmelita White Fox finds Gil Sanchez intriguing but like her I had to work at seeing his best side which he hid so well. So cowboys are not the only relentless ones in this book I am glad to have read.
This is book six in the Texas Rodeo series but the first for me to have read in the series. These books must stand on their own because I had no confusions or problems with the story. I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it to anyone who would want to read a realistic cowboy story with an authentic feel to the people, their struggles and their emotions.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was for me such an amazing read. I loved the story and the Native American aspect and how the author beautifully intertwines it in the story. Both Carmelita and Gil are perfect for this story and is so great to see them developed in even better person because of each other. Their love blossoms beautifully. I love the family drama in the book and everything is developed in for me a story that I will never forget.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Carmelita “Carma” White Fox has a special talent. She can sometimes sense a person’s emotions as an INFJ, “introverted, intuitive, feeling and judging. The super-empath.” It seems INFJ people are really good at picking up on non-verbal tells and knowing how humans normally act they can sometimes predict the future. Carma also can help sooth tense moments and relax stress. All this make no difference when her long-time boyfriend, rodeo rider, Jayden dumped her. Meeting Gil Sanchez at a fundraiser where she was performing her rope tricks was a positive event in her life, albeit a very short interlude. When her grandmother set her on a journey to visit equine-therapy sites to gain knowledge to set up an equine-therapy clinic for the Blackfeet Carma knew she’d see Gil again. Her final planned stop was the Patterson Equine-Therapy Clinic where her cousin lives and where the chief physical therapist, Tori Patterson-Sanchez, Gil’s sister-in-law resided. A bad hamburger which brought on a bad case of food poisoning led Carma to Gil much sooner than she expected. Now to see if their blazing attraction to each other still burns.
Gil Sanchez runs Sanchez Trucking with his father and wild-bronc-riding brother, Delon. He is thirteen years sober and thanks to innovative surgery after he messed up his hip badly – dropped his motorcycle on a highway going way too fast – he finds himself in great physical shape. Since making his last trip to the Blackfeet reservation and meeting Carma he can’t get her out of his head. What a surprise when she parks her van outside Sanchez Trucking’s office in search of a restroom to throw up in and ends up blacking out. He can’t let her get away this time. She offered him a raincheck and he intends to cash that raincheck in. She makes him feel whole again. When he gets the okay to get back to bronc riding again he knows he has to give it a shot at the Diamond Cowboy Classic Rodeo. Carma agrees to stick by him and support him. Gil wonders if she will agree to stick by him forever.
I have really been looking forward to Gil’s book. I wondered what kind of woman would be his match. This author sure hit spot on with this couple. I love how they interact with each other and both try to give the other everything they need. I also enjoyed reading about Gil’s stupid “he’s just a male” mistakes. Carma is one tough cookie with a big, loving heart. Gil is a very complex character being a recovering alcoholic, a workaholic running the family trucking company, a loving father not sure of the job he is doing with his son. He needs someone like Carma in his life.
One of my favorite things about this series is how how family and friends step up big time when one of them is in need. Both Gil and Carma become beneficiaries of this love. The authentic rodeo scenes make me miss the rodeo visits I did at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo the last few Februaries. I have a real hankering to go to a rodeo every time I finish a book in this series.
Being a POC myself, it was interesting to read about another person’s experience with having a foot in 2 worlds; one (or a couple of toes) in your ethnic world but not totally and another in the Western world. I had to laugh at the “apple” reference since I am a “banana”.
Great drama, action and suspense. I enjoyed the aspect of the H and h being an older couple. I found the story was more about the relationship and juggling the romance with family and work obligations rather than the pages taken up with erotica. (Although there is nothing wrong with that!) There is a long list of characters that could get confusing but I found if I focused on Gil and Carma I didn’t get bogged down with all the names.
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
This is the sixth book in the Texas rodeo series another great read. Gil Sanchez was a rodeo rider that went through a bad spell that ended his career now that he’s sober he decided to try one more time to get back into the game He meets Carma a Indian woman that can heal people. Really good love story kept me reading from beginning to end just to see what would happen ,great characters very well written story looking forward to reading more from this author
I stayed up all night reading an advance copy of Relentless In Texas and it was worth every moment of lost sleep. The hero and heroine are wonderful as is the entire supporting cast of characters; the setting of Earnest, Texas is vivid and the world of rodeo and Sanchez Trucking equally riveting. This title features Gil Sanchez, a familiar character readers have fallen in love with throughout earlier books in the “Texas Rodeo” series, and the book does not disappoint on any level. In fact, the only negative thing about this book was reaching “The End” and knowing I have to wait for Ms. Dell’s next absorbing story.
