Cecilia Lyons escapes her sordid past by moving to Orlando and reinventing herself. Staying clean is challenging enough, but she’s challenged further when she catches the eye of the sexiest deejay in Orlando. Desperately, she wants to tell Brock her secret, but telling him would taint his view of her. It’s been years since she’s had a healthy relationship, and the more time she spends with … with Brock, the harder she falls for him. To protect her heart, she keeps her secret.
Brock Sullivan trusts very few people. Abandoned by his mother and tragically losing his first love, he puts little faith in women. When he meets Cecilia, he is unprepared for their overwhelming attraction. Not only is she a habit he doesn’t want to break, being with her forces him to rethink his beliefs.
Even when he learns the worst about Cecilia, he can’t stay away. But when push comes to shove, will Brock be able to keep her safe?

This was one heartfelt read the story was filled with heart and a ton of emotion and it felt real. The characters were amazing we loved them all.
Brock was a character you instantly loved he was downright playful had a good sense of humor was sexy and possessive and an all-round nice guy. I loved how he treated Cecilia like she was special and never stop telling her on a daily basis on how much he loved and cared about her. Initially, it was a bit of a shock to learn about her past but, once he straightens out his feelings for her it was full throttle to make her his again.
Cecilia and her struggles were real and our heart went out to her because she always seemed to be apologizing for her past and not only that her self-esteem seemed non-existent but, through it all, she seemed to be one tough cookie. I loved that she had a sense of humor and was sweet kind and loving and all of Brock’s’s family loved her as well which we loved a heck of a lot.
This love story was not an easy one and at times I felt I had constant whiplash with all of Cecilia’s protests and her trying to put distance between her and Brock but, Brock was a man who did not take no for an answer and every day he tried to make Cecilia see all the things that he saw in her hoping she would see them for herself. This story was definitely emotional and messy and it felt real because you could resonate with what Cecilia was feeling and her fears which I really loved.
The characters Brock and Cecilia had major chemistry and fit well together but, it was not the explosive kind we usually see from this author but, still super sweet nevertheless.
Overall I loved the story and that the struggles one has on a daily basis to deal with a pass addiction are real and hard and it is always challenging but, we loved that Cecilia was always honest with her struggles and feelings and that she voiced them to the surrounding people which In our eyes made her stronger willed that she even realized.
My only pet peeve would be we never got a solid answer to the question of who wanted to do Cecilia harm it all was pretty much of a guessing game and even with parties in play being temporarily detained is there still and future threat to her welfare and safety? That remains to be seen…
This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Karen Renee; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

From the moment I picked up this book I knew it was going to be a heavy read. Well, it’s definitely all that and more as a recovering addict takes a chance on love with a man carrying his own emotional baggage. Their story isn’t pretty at times but it is realistic and will quickly captivate readers looking for an unflinching take on romance in today’s world.
Cecilia Lyons has come to Orlando for a fresh start, trying to put her painful past and her drug abuse behind her. With her family’s support she’s made a life for herself that she can be proud of. It made me proud of her too as she’s a sassy and likable heroine. A night out at a club changes her life irrevocably when she meets dj Brock…a man who has her wanting to share everything about herself with him. It’s not easy to open up like that though and it does cause some issues between them as they go through a sensual tug of war on the way to HEA.
Brock Sullivan has had his own pain in the past by women’s betrayal and the loss of the love of his life. He’s immediately drawn to Cecilia, drawn to her night after night, until they finally give into each other. Hearing her truths though caused problems between them that made me not like him for awhile. Despite his initial anger Brock finally rose to the occasion to be the man Cecilia needed him to be.
On a whole this was a captivating story that kept me glued to the pages. It was realistic too, pulled at my heartstrings, and was a powerful series starter that has me looking forward to revisiting this world again soon!
The story is so addicting that I couldn’t put in down!
I really liked Cecilia, she is troubled by her past and still letting it define her in some way while trying to move forward. And failing in love wasn’t in the plan also, especially when she couldn’t bring herself, to be honest about her past.
Those kinds of things never can stay secret for long and long behold it all blows up, but that only the start of a very bumpy path to happily ever after. 🙂
And then there is Brock. He is strong, stubborn, and hot, but also very hotheaded. I didn’t like the way he talked to her, especially at the start of the book. But as the story moved on, I started to sloooowly like him, a bit. 🙂
The writing style wasn’t my favorite, but I loved the storyline, it is gripping and intense and so addictive, I read it in one sitting.

A new spin off of sorts, Brock is Vamp’s brother and Cecilia is Neil’s sister. Both of which come from the Riot MC series, and I do suggest checking the series out, it was a really good MC read. Now, Brock is the hottie DJ that Cecilia has gotten the attention of, and she has decided to take the plunge and have a one night, no strings type of thing. The thing is, Brock has other plans, he wants a real chance with Cecilia, only he doesn’t know that she has loads of baggage. Cecilia is determined to not drag Brock down, while Brock is determined to make sure that she stays his, but when he finds out the worst about Cecilia will he still be so determined?
I really enjoyed this start to a new series, I loved that we got to see Vamp, Razor and their ladies. Loads of drama, danger, a bit of violence, some heart breaking moments, and of course some really nicely done naughty bits. I am excited to see just how this series goes. I give this 4 stars.

This is the 1st in a new series and what a beginning this story is. Cecilia is stubborn and sassy and has move to Orlando for a fresh start as she is still struggling mentally from what she has endured, and on a night out she goes to a club where Brock is the DJ. From the moment Brock sees her in the club he is determined to get her, and she is the perfect match for him and his domineering ways, but Cecilia is scared that once Brock finds out her secret he will not want her anymore. Will Brock be able to protect Cecilia? No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed with any of this talented authors’ work. This is a well written tale which is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout, as well as having heartbreak, witty banter, passion, and love which all leads to a riveting and humorous story. I was hooked throughout and look forward to reading more from this author.
Love the Romance
Brock and Cecilia were instantly attracted to each other and Brock wanted nothing more than to be with Cecilia. The thing standing in their way was Cecilia herself. She thought she was no good for Brock and wanted to keep her distance from him but the more she fought it the more he tried to show her that it just wasn’t true. Maybe Cecilia was right because once you hear her reason for keeping him at arm’s length you just might agree with her.
Cecilia was much stronger and better than she thought and Brock was just the one to show her. The romance between these two was great and the chemistry even better. This is a book you want to read if you love romances that pull you in and keep you enthralled until the very end.
Protective, bossy alpha hero? Check!
Sassy, stubborn heroine? Check!
Plenty of steamy bits? Check!
Delicious angst? Also check!
Relentless Habit is book 1 in the O-Town series and delivers on all of the above and more. Karen Renee’s books have quickly become comfort reads for me. I know what I’m going to get when I pick one up, but I also know she’s still going to surprise me.
I loved Brock and Cecilia’s story– even if I wanted to punch Brock in the face no less than seven times during the first 40% of the book (he’s just that bossy! And that temper…) But he truly wants his woman and he makes damn sure she knows it! Cecilia has had a tough road thus far and even though she still struggles with certain aspects of her life, she’s one tough cookie– meaning, she’s the perfect match for Brock and his domineering ways.
Anyway, read this in a day, if that’s any indication of how much I could NOT put it down!
Oh, Brock and Cecilia. They both needed their own story, and it turned out perfectly. Cecilia is turning her life around and avoiding dangerous situations, but Brock isn’t about to be denied. He knows that Cecilia and he could be great together, and he’s not letting her fear run the show. Of course, that’s easier said than done when he learns about the one thing she’s been afraid to share. Once Brock knows part of that piece, Cecilia is shattered, and in a humiliatingly painful way. I found myself tearing up while reading through her embarrassment and misery, and oh, did I want to slap Brock.
But if Brock works through his anger and decides that Cecilia, ALL of Cecilia, is worth so much more than being a blip in his rearview mirror, he can work to get under her skin. He just needs to want it badly enough to get under Cecilia’s skin so they can find their happy. After all, if Brock makes the effort, Cecilia surely won’t be able to resist, right?
I’ve loved everything I’ve read from this author so far, and this story is no exception. The pain dripping off the page sometimes, the humor, the realism of “I’m mad, but we’re still family, so we can deal”, and the happiness found for Brock and Cecilia made for a rollercoaster of a read. I can’t wait to revisit them in the next book, because I’m sure they’ll have a few things to say about Gabe’s behavior at some point during his story.
With Cecilia coming to Orlando for a fresh start, its interesting when she comes across Brock Sullivan. You can see that he certainly has some trust issues of him own (which I completely understand why) and doesn’t trust women. I found it intriguing when, despite his view of women, that Cecilia catches his attention. When their relationship kicks off there is some fantastic chemistry and I found myself laughing quite often throughout the book. The only problem is, she is still holding on to a secret, which she feels wont make her feel very welcome in Orlando any more.

This was a bit of a roller coaster ride. Cecelia’s past almost ended the relationship more than once, in more ways than one. I loved Brock’s protectiveness, determination, and acceptance for Cecelia and all that she had been through. A couple times, he was a little overprotective. Cecelia felt human with her addiction and struggles to rise above it all. Her self-esteem took some rebuilding with the help of therapy, friends, and family. I enjoyed the interactions between the different family members and significant others. I recommend this story.
