Sal had woken up with no recollection of the night before a few times but never like this … in a forest … alone … confused … scared. She scoured her surroundings, desperate for some clue as to how she’d ended up here. Fragments of conversations, snapshots of memories were all she could scramble together. But, suddenly, none of it mattered.A stranger.A warning. And the hunt is on. Now Sal and her … warning.
And the hunt is on.
Now Sal and her friends are in a battle like no other. Death and terror lurk around every corner. Can they defy the odds and live to fight another day?
Or will they fall like so many before?
Is it all a nightmare or is it for real? One thing is for sure, it’s relentless.

This book was both brutal and shocking. Exactly what you want from survival horror. It doesn’t pull any punches and nobody is safe. An action-packed thrill ride!
Christopher Artinian picked the perfect word, for the title of this novel, as it described this story very well. There was non-stop action from the opening pages until the end. The central protagonist, Sal, had all the character traits that I admire. She was independent, determined, and snarky. The author’s descriptive phraseology drew me into the story until I felt like I was there. I recommend this book to others, but it is not for the faint-of-heart nor for younger readers. There was some foul language utilized and the descriptive phrases had an emotional impact. Kim Bretton’s narration was spectacular and by giving the characters their individual voice, she added to the story’s entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
Relentless (A Survival Horror Story) by Christopher Artinian and narrated by Kim Bretton is a fast-paced tale of cat and mouse that I want more of! This review is going to be minimal due to spoilers. After a night out, Sal and her friends wake up in an unknown place and are immediately thrust into a sick game of survival. It’s go, go, go from start to finish. The ending- it fits but I can see how some might not like it (for the record, I liked it). You’ll get closure for Sal and her friends, but it’s also left open for the next book (can’t wait for that to come to Audible!) Kim did a fanatic job of narrating- great character voices, great pace, and perfect for the intense situation.
I highly recommend this one and while it’s not a new concept, it’s well-written and well-narrated. I was on the edge of my seat for this one and you will be too.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: Due to spoilers, I will only say things like death and violence. Language used: Fx161, Sx54 (I’m impressed Christopher, didn’t seem that like many)
Christopher Artinian is one of my favorite authors in the Zombie genre. When I saw that he had written a book in another genre, I knew I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed.
Sal is a young woman who was out having fun with her friends as a celebration of her upcoming wedding. When she wakes up in a forest, totally disoriented and unsure as to what has happened, she is understandably confused. She thinks that her chums are playing a trick on her as part of the celebration. However, a scream of terror soon changes her mind.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I won’t say more about the plot. You have to experience this terrifying and action-packed story for yourself. I will say that I was hoping for a happier ending, but it is a horror story after all. The writing is wonderful, the pace is extreme, and the obvious horror of the girls’ situation is palpable.
I first read this book as an ebook & thoroughly enjoyed it. When the audiobook version became available, I jumped at the chance to listen to it. The narrator, Kim Bretton, is one of my favorite narrators. Her ability to bring each character to life is amazing and you always know who is speaking, even with a three or four way dialogue. Simply amazing!
If you enjoy fast paced thrillers and great storytelling, give this book a try. You won’t be disappointed! I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.
Wow, this book was intense, right from the beginning, when the girls wake up confused in the middle of a nightmarish scenario, it gave me the chills. The suspense is steady, with plenty of plot twists and gruesome moments, as the girls try to stay ahead of the ‘game’, using ingenuity to ‘Macgyver’ some weapons! I absolutely loved this book, I couldn’t put it down, although I was shocked by the ending, but I definately can’t wait for the next book. Kim Bretton’s narration was superb as always, and a joy to listen to.
More for a teen.
