It all started with a dare. A single dare on Maisey Parker’s twenty first birthday and her entire life changed. One second she was getting drunk with her friends, and the next she was climbing a cliff, cutting her hand, and accidentally offering a blood sacrifice that opened a thousand year old prison. A prison that contained the only living Titan. One too powerful to kill. One that wants … kill. One that wants nothing to do with being attached to Maisey.
Cronus has an old score to settle with the Greek Pantheon. Lucky she has some sick days saved up at work, because Maisey is dragged along whether she likes it or not. A decision Cronus no doubt regretted right around the time she makes a colossal mistake, unleashing an untold evil on the world.
Now they’re in a race against the clock to resurrect the other Titans, the only beings who can contain the evil. They’re the world’s last hope. And Maisey’s.

Wow how have I never read this book before. I was absolutely hooked. I love the characters and their story. Maisey & Cronus, I can’t get enough of. This book definitely gave me the feels. I can’t wait too read the next book especially how this book ended
**********Contains Spoilers**********
I’ve been a fan of Jaymin Eve & Leia Stone both individually & collectively for years now and they don’t disappoint in this book. The only real issue that I found is that it took me a tiny bit to warm up to Maisey than Jaymin & Leia’s other female leads in their books as since she was trying to gain 100k followers on instagram she was all about the perfect selfie but she grew on me pretty quickly also the constant use of hashtags with Maisey’s inner dialogue but that kind of goes with the territory or Maisey being obsessed with Instagram. The hashtags and inner dialogue were pretty funny but just got repetitive. I loved the spin the they put on the Greek Pantheon in that the Gods were way worse than the Titans as most books I’ve read about Gods it’s usually the Titans trying to end the world and the Gods trying to save it, whereas in this book Zeus is on a complete power trip to gain control of the 9 deadly sins that Maisey accidentally releases from Pandora’s box with her magical hair that she inherited from one of her mother’s Selene, not only does Maisey release them into the world the box disappears but turns into a necklace that adheres to her neck so when Maisey, Cronus & his cheating ex-wife Rhea wake up a few of the other Titans to save the human race from extinction by the 9 deadly sins, each one they stop goes into the necklace but it’s a conduit to Maisey so she actually ends up housing each sin they manage to capture. During the time that the sins were contained while Cronus was imprisoned they gained knowledge and strength. You’ll have to pick up this book to see how it all plays out. I really loved Maisey and Cronus and I loved the dynamics with her and some of the other Titan’s especially her ‘Grandpa’ Hyperion. This book book brings the Greek Pantheon into the age of social media so it has a lot of hashtags throughout the book so be warned. #DickGoldForTheWin….. What a great way to start 2021 off by finally picking up this series which I’ve had for ages but I wanted to wait until the series was completed before reading them as I get so excited reading a new release straight away but then I’m disappointed that I have to wait ages for the next book so even though it’s been really hard to hold off on reading them, it was totally worth the wait. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series and whatever book both Jaymin and Leia release next, whether it’s individually or collectively. I’d definitely recommend this book, this series & both authors to anyone.
‘Releasing the Gods’ is book one in the Co-Authored series Titan Saga by Jaymin Eve & Leia Stone.
Maisey thought that the most important thing in her life was her social media life, getting 50k follows on her Instagram account and hoping to get sponsors. When she is double dared to climb up the “haunted cliff” on her twenty-first birthday she never thought that she would accidentally unlock a thousand year old prison and get a life bond to a Titan. Being bonded to a Titan with revenge on his mind means that she is pulled across the world making deal after deal with other Titans/Gods. But when Pandora’s box is opened and Nine Deadly Sins are released, she must work with the arrogant Titan to recapture the Sins before Earth is destroyed.
Firstly I just have to say how much I love these ladies. Their work as individual authors are just phenomenal but when you put them together it’s like all my Christmas’ and birthday’s have come at once. I’ve read everything by these ladies as individuals and co-authored and I can’t get enough of them.
So now on to the book review…
What an absolute exhilarating start to a series, if this is any indication on how awesome this series is going to be then we are in for one heart pulling, high stakes, emotional overload of an experience. And I CANT wait!
I love a good Mythology twist and this was off the charts. There are so many different renditions out there on the Titans/Gods. But so far I have not found one where the Titans are the misunderstood/victims. There have been plenty with Zeus being the arrogant, evil, nasty being. I loved how Maisey would make references to what is in the history books about the Titans and seeing Cronus’ reaction, telling her that Zeus rewrote the tales.
Maisey is a little scatterbrained but her character growth was enjoyable to see. Even though she never really embraced the whole Titans and Gods existed in the beginning she was happy to just go with it. But when it mattered she was on board fully.
The constant humour between Maisey and Cronus is a great distraction from the seriousness of the situation that they are in. So many times throughout the book I found myself lol and getting weird looks from the kids. When I tried to explain what was going on to them they would respond by saying there was something wrong with me. They just don’t understand .
I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two, especially after that ending. I can’t believe what went down. There better be a really good explanation and reason behind it.
A dare–not just any dare–a double dare is what gets Maisey Hope Parker in a world of trouble. Because, surely, climbing a cliff to a cave, cutting your hand, opening a mystical prison, and setting free the Titan Cronus should qualify as trouble with a capital T. But with Maisey, it could be somewhat expected. She’s a magnet for epically troublesome things. #queenofunfortunateshit #buttaketheselfieanyway
A self-proclaimed social climber and internet influencer, Maisey does what anyone of us would do with a hot Titan–well, yea, now that I wrote that, my mind went there too—leading the witness! I do mean, though, that she takes advantage of his hotness. And I love her for it, and it drove me insane. In many ways, she is like a naughty child that can’t conceive of self-preservation. I love her for it, and it drove me insane. Let’s just blanket say that I loved Maisey, but, boy did she make me want to throat punch her often. #violenceisnevertheanswer
Releasing the Gods is like any Jaymin Eve book, super good. It’s the first time I have encountered Leia Stone, and I found this book to be laugh-out-loud funny. I immediately purchased two of Leia Stone novels on Amazon Kindle, and I own Fallen Academy: Year One as a physical book and need to read it, like ten minutes ago.
I highly recommend you try Releasing the Gods out. I think the only thing I wasn’t excited about was the cover, but that is splitting hairs. Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone are clearly Titans.
It’s an entertaining book that makes you smile and curious what’s going to happen next.
I admit, the cover captivated me. It’s unique, gorgeous, and mysterious. I’ve read several books from each author and was thoroughly psyched for this collaboration. From the beginning, the book read like it was designed for younger generations, and mind you, I’m in my 30’s, so I don’t even consider myself that old, so that’s saying something. The hashtags are overwhelming, and even when they’re not, you see parts where you start second guessing why there isn’t one in there and if they toned it down at times. Or perhaps it was just one writer of the two that used the majority of them; I don’t know.
Writing about Greek Gods in modern times is always difficult, and this was no different. The main character has almost no redeeming qualities from the beginning so it’s very hard to relate to her. She’s vain, self-centered, ditsy, (the list goes on really). She’s almost like an entitled brat, which conflicts with her upbringing since her mother died and father started drinking himself to death shortly thereafter. All of the gods present themselves as young adults, and are about as immature personality wise as well. I kept hoping that more of the Greek mythology would be explained and tie the story together, but it seemed like every opportunity was missed because of the aforementioned main character who kept wishing she had time to google the history but wouldn’t ask the Titan she’s been bonded to. It just felt like the main points of Greek mythology were skimmed over without any depth. This makes for an easy read since the plot is so shallow. There was so much more potential for just MORE but the execution was lacking. Not to mention the scenes keep hopscotching across the world so fast that your head spins.
Through its pitfalls, it’s like candy. It’s certainly not meant to be good for you, and it might not be the best you’ve (read), but you’re strangely addicted. And there’s this slight hope that maybe the next book will be a bit more substantial rather than superficial.
#thisbookistheS****!!! Hilarious!
#omg#HandsDownBestbook for 2020#sorryIMLate# Loved it !!!! Hey gods, eat your heart out! Titans are here! and they came to kick your A**! #thatDtho#Gold#CronusIsMINE#sexyBeast#EveryoneNeedsToReadThis! #LMAO#thisBookIsLife i couldn’t stop laughing#facts
Man, I don’t think my brain was this broken since reading Heather Renee’s Shadow Veil Series. So thank you I love it when my brain feels like it’s been turned into mush. So I kinda hope nobody is expecting too much of my brain right now. Last night…only very limited words came out and even then they were words mostly on repeat.
I could say I felt like someone threw me overboard but no that’s not epic enough. This probably won’t necessarily mean much to you guys since you haven’t read the book, but it felt like being punt kicked off a cliff with no life bond….if you had a life bond just think of going bungee jumping, I personally have never been (coz heights are terrifying lol)…but you know the moment they spring back up? Well it’s like that expect boom your safe and back on solid ground, no kasplat for you . Without a life bond? #SoScrewed #PleaseRememberMe – that’s your predicament. So maybe go find yourself a life bond? Coz safety first.
Now your probably all rolling your eyes at me…going stop being a drama queen, but don’t judge until you read this book and that last scene. #Don’tBeGivingMeNoAttitude
Okay, okay fine I’m moving on. But seriously guys you really need to read this book! It’s funny, full of life, has hot Titans, a killer story and a chick that is so determined to show that humans are just as worthy as all the gods in this book. Who are btws #SoCocky…Humans can be awesome and all that too you know!
At first look, even maybe second, you may just see a girl that’s kind of a little shallow. Obsessed with getting likes and follows on Insta and is well known as the #HashtagQueen…but you see pretty quickly, for me anyways, that Maisey is just a girl trying to find her place in the world, trying to stay afloat in a life that hasn’t been all to kind to her and to prove she is worthy and that she won’t be alone in this life.
This new chapter in her life…that #ChangesEverything all starts at her 21st birthday party and a double dare, which she could never pass up. So what does she do but go climb up the cliff to go take a selfie in a supposedly haunted cave. She’s not scared because she doesn’t believe in ghosts or the likes…but when she accidentally cuts herself climbing and said hand ends up on some pretty archaic cave wall…she kinda accidentally lets out a being that’s been locked up for a thousand years #OopsDidIDoThat. Like any person who has been drinking she totally puts it down to high levels of alcohol and one of her friends slipping something into her drink.
But next day nope, the hot as hell guy, wait he’s not really a guy #HotTitanAlert, is still there in her apartment and everything that is happening is #Real…and due to her saving him from the prison world, it kind of made a life bond happen between the two of them. If she dies, he dies, where he goes she goes. There’s really no choice in the matter because if she doesn’t follow #LotsOfPain #MadeToFollow sooo being the girl that she is she takes in all in stride.
Basically after releasing one hella powerful Titan, Cronus, he’s on a little bit of a payback mission for the Pantheon gods that put him there and killed his family…being stuck to this human is an inconvenience to him obviously and her peppy, take things in stride attitude kinda annoys him a little – see he’s very serious and doesn’t like to smile much but can you blame the dude? First off, he’s a Titan that’s been trapped for AGES and secondly he just attached himself to an annoying human, as he sees it, that could potentially kill him.
But before anything can go underway with Cronus’ payback plan, being stuck in a prison world can kinda drain a fella out…and being drained is not good news, because that means there’s quite a few gods gunning for his sexy butt; Coz best time to take him down is clearly when his drained. So off Cronus and Maisey go trying to keep ahead of a not so happy Zeus and his followers.
So obviously, when your power is running low you go chase after a person that can give you a weapon that can injure a god right?! And from here some crazy stuff starts happening. Old enemies meet and Cronus is adorable with how he protects his human.
There’s also new allegiances that are made….haha and nope not telling you who with. But with this new person on their side, they also find that they had to make a deal…because duh we have to spice things up a little. And that’s when bigger problems come about like #EndTheWorld kind. You see where they have to go to complete this deal, is a place filled with all these items Zeus has collected and Cronus leaves Maisey on her own, which #IsNeveraGoodIdea and she kinda finds herself having opened Pandora’s Box.
And about Nine levels of epic proportions of bad just happen to come out of it. Nine deadly sins…that have only grown in power since the last time they had been locked away. Sooo now they kinda have to go save the world. Leave Zeus for another day.
There’s one thing I haven’t told you…and I’m not going to say a lot even on it…but somehow Maisey isn’t all that she seems…and when she opened the box she just became an extremely crucial part in all of this…and she may just be the only way to save humankind from being made extinct. And that is all I’m saying on that matter. You can’t make me say more.
I really loved this world that Jaymin and Leia created. I don’t think I’ve actually read anything like that, where its the Titan’s that are on the good side trying to fix stuff. So I loved that switch it up. Even besides that, this world has been crafted to perfection even if it leaves you panting for breath and in a perpetual state of #FreakingOut
I just can’t stop thinking of that cliffy and how much hurt my chest experienced…like my chest literally felt like it was being tugged on and then BOOM the books just finished and everything is #bad #NoAmountOfChocolateCanFixThis
All I need right now is answers that’s all. That’s not asking too much is it?!
At the moment I don’t know much…but I do know that I feel like a kid that’s counting down the days to their birthday or Christmas and its not getting here soon enough. #YouDoKnowI’mDyingOverHereRight?
But I will grudgingly say thank you for bringing us into this amazing world even if you didn’t send us in with safety gear to survive. So readers this is me giving you a warning…brace yourself for impact lol.
You guys are in for one hell of a ride with this story. It’s the kind that will be make everything else cease to exist as it sucks you into its world. So really just clear your schedule and enjoy being brought into this incredibly constructed world.
#Happy readings
A fun, modernized take on Greek mythology! I loved Eve’s take on old god meets social media and the mashup of several recognizable mythology stories. Cronus was sexy and confident and Maisey was energetic, bubbly with an edge, and made the most of her situations. While the story does reflect typical IG slang, I did quickly tire of the too frequent hashtags. The narration was well done and added to the story for me. She did a great job bringing the characters to life and giving them each a distinct voice.
*I read this as an audiobook
Jaymin Eve & Leia Stone are one of my favorites duo of co-writting authors. But sadly this book was not one of my favorites. The story by itself would have been awesome if not for the constant Hashtagging every few sentences. That sadly killed it for me. I don’t know if listening to it via Audible made it worse but i will try to read the other books instead of listening to it maybe it will be less annoying.
Vanessa Moyen did an excellent job narrating this book like usual i love her voice. So sad that that the constant # ruined it.
I wanted to really love this book as I like both of the authors. The story itself was good, that’s why I’m giving this 3 stars instead of 2. I had no problem with the story plot and the #hashtag ‘thing’ was cute if a bit overdone. My issue was just not liking the self-centered, shallow, female lead character, Maisey and what seemed like a strained attempt at a romance between her and Cronus. Plus, if I had a dollar for every time Maisey thought about asking a question later, or bringing up a topic later, or shelving something to think of LATER, that almost never came up again – I’d have enough money to buy the hardback version of this entire series however long it will be. Which I won’t be doing as I don’t plan on reading any more of this series unless I see by the reviews that it’s really improved. I won’t give up on these authors however. I do like most of their work
Absolute magic from one of my favorite authors! A new hilarious and sassy heroine. A must read! Maisey’s only goal in life is to be an Instagram star until she accidentally releases a god during a drunken birthday celebration. Now she’s attached at the hip with a sexy as sin Titan who wants revenge on the gods who locked him away. Being carted around the world while #hotfelon recharges his batteries should be enough to land her the ‘Gram fame she’s been looking for but it all goes to hell when the nine deadly sins get released. #oopsy Now Maisey may be the only person that can save the world from disaster. #GreekGodsAreSexy #GirlPower
It’s been a time since I read such an amazing and funny book. Maisey has a peculiar way to see life through extremely hilarious hashtags that are so contagious that I laughed whenever she thinks of one. Cronus on the other
hand is an antagonist of her sarcasm and humour, but got wrapped in it. Great book and I hope the next to come very very soon.
Oh my hot and holy titans!! I’m blown away by this spectacularly addictive new novel from the mavens of supernatural entertainment!!! Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone have an instant hit upon their hands!! This. Is. Everything!!! You won’t be able to put this down! There is humor, sarcasm, and deadly wit ensconced within and that’s just the first chapter!! When a brooding and somewhat haunted titan is forced into an unexpected bond, he’s entitled to be a bit grumpy, right? He is not at all prepared to meet Maisey!! And that’s where the fun begins! This is laugh out loud worthy. This hashtag queen is in way over her gorgeous head. I cannot wait for the next book because that ending is anxiety inducing! I think I’ve just found my new favorite series as I loved every word of this!
Releasing The Gods by Leia Stone and Jaymin Eve a five-star read that will knock your socks off. This is the first novel in The Titan Sage and well all I want to do is stamp my feet and have a #tantrum until number two is released. This was a great story watching as Maisy Parker goes from drunk Selfie queen, to just a down and out queen, a queen who rules her own destiny. This is a great story and the # dropped in through the story just add a lightness and some funny, funny moments that will make you spit your drink out. Cronus adds some great drama and facial expressions to the story. This first instalment has all the promise to show us what a great saga this will be.
