Author Note: Although this series is loosely connected to The Billionaire’s Obsession series, it stands alone and can be read without reading The Billionaire’s Obsession series. But this is a steamy alpha billionaire romance, so skip it if you dislike sensual romance and explicit language. *Includes The Billionaire’s Obsession ( complete Simon & Kara’s story) as a bonusTrace and Eva’s story: … a bonus
Trace and Eva’s story:
My name is Eva Morales, and I was one step away from being homeless when Trace Walker came into my life. I want to hate him because of my past, but I end up making what I consider a “devil’s bargain” with the arrogant young billionaire instead. Really, I have no choice. It’s either take the work he’s offering or starve, and I’ve been hungry long enough.
I didn’t think being his fake fiancee for the holidays would be a difficult job, but it ends up more complicated than I ever imagined, and I see a whole new side of Trace once he lets his guard down. He’s haunted by his past–just like me, But there are things I can never tell him, secrets I don’t dare reveal.
Eventually, I find myself in a difficult situation because our volatile attraction to each other won’t be denied. Should I tell him the truth, or do I finish the job he’s paying me for and walk away with my secrets still hidden, my pride still intact? He’s paying me enough for this job to take care of myself once it’s over. I’ve always been alone, and I always thought I preferred it…until I met Trace. I’d have to put everything on the line to be honest with him, but he very well might be the first man who is worth the risk. Honestly, I’d be endangering more than just my pride. I could handle feeling like a loser, because I’ve pretty much felt that way my entire life. What really terrifies me is being vulnerable and the possibility of ending up with a shattered heart….

Though this isn’t a new concept for a story, he needs a fake fiance for the holidays, it’s not exactly the stereotypical progression. Trace needs a “fiance” so when his brother and his girlfriend come for the holidays, Trace will be able to avoid said girlfriend (a gold digger and horrid person), who happens to be his ex who is just using his brother to get him back. Eva goes to Trace looking for a job, although this isn’t the job she’s looking for, but his insta-attraction to her makes Trace convince her to take the job, with the promise of a more permanent job after the holidays.
Eva’s history is pretty harsh. Her mother was truly a piece of garbage human being, and the more we learn about her, the less sad we are that she perished in a plane crash many years before. Her actions put Eva in a very bad situation, and essentially destroyed her future. But when she meets Trace, things start to turn around. They are definitely attracted to each other, but as per usual, they both deny the extent to which they are falling. Trace is truly a good guy, and they’re relationship evolves very quickly.
The main conflict that threatens to tear them apart fortunately doesn’t get drawn out over a long period of time. It’s actually, thankfully, resolved relatively quickly. Although I think I would’ve liked to hear the confrontation that happens off page, because it would’ve been sweet to hear the person put in their place. But that we didn’t get a drawn out separation was nice, and honestly felt more real in the circumstances.
The chemistry is naturally off the charts, as it is in these books, and it’s steamy and passionate. The narrator does a great job bringing out every emotion, be it love, despair, or even hate.
Trace and Eva are an unlikely pair but when Eva shows up at Trace’s office he instantly finds her intriguing and offers her a job as his fake fiancee. Soon they are embroiled together and she let him in on the secret she is really the daughter of the woman his father married and was killed with him so they are remotely related but not. Lots of twists and turns but also lots of heat and these two are great together! Looking forward to the other Walker brother books!
Release! (The Walker Brothers, #1) was a great read by J.S. Scott. Eva is just a step away from being homeless when she strode right into Trace’s office. Eva agreed to be Trace’s fake fiance to get him through the holidays with his family. Both Trace and Eva have secrets that they can’t tell each other. They both try to fight their chemistry until they can’t anymore. Elizabeth Powers did a great job of narrating these characters. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more by J.S. Scott.
I loved this story. I love how it was all about the development of the relationship. I loved how open and honest they were with each other. And I loved how it ended. Great book.
Emotional Ride
Another perfect emotional rollercoaster from Jan. When you take two head strong people and throw them together there is bound to be some fireworks and this story doesn’t let you down with that. People that come from the opposite sides of the track discover that they have many things in common, but can they overcome their differences and look deep inside and realize they truly need each other?
Come along and bring your Kleenex too discover their story.
Until Next Time… Tabi
Be still my beating heart. Trace and Eva found destiny when they weren’t even looking. Release paints a sweet picture of what love should be. Despite life’s ugliness and fate’s heartaches, two lost souls collide at the right time. Scott continues to give the heart what it wants. A wild ride that’s not always beautiful, but worth the uphill climb.
I enjoyed reading this book. It starts with Eva going to Trace Walker’s office to ask for a job and got more than a job he ask her to become his fake fiance . Eva accepted and the story had me reading till I finished! I recommend this book!!!!!
Ok read. Nice characters. Just a little choppy, not real smooth. Not bad but not good enough to read more of the series.
A good read with some steamy parts but not intense enough for me
Could have been better
Sex scenes were too predictable and I even skipped some of them just to get to the end.of the book. The characters weren’t well developed either. Not a book I would recommend.
