What’s the saying: keep your friends close and your enemies closer? Guess I’m about to find out just how difficult that really is. I might have my best friend back but his safety and that of my chosen family depends on me doing something I vowed never to do. Join Camden’s crew. Thing is, you don’t turn down the leader of Hackney’s Hackers and then get a second chance without forfeiting … without forfeiting something in return. The relationships I was just starting to build, is that too high of a price?
Sonny with his joking nature and dimples.
Ford with his mysterious dominance and protective instinct.
Eastern with his unyielding loyalty and feeling of home.
This term at Oceanside Academy, my sanity will be pushed to the limit as I walk the fine line between friend and foe. All I know is this better be worth it because I’m about to learn something important about myself. I was happy being a delinquent, but a reject…? Not so much.

5 Intense Stars! What a thrilling roller coaster ride! Intense, suspenseful, twisted, gritty, poetic, and beautiful are just a few of the words I would use to describe this book and this series. Bea does NOT disappoint in this second installment of this series. I was once again gripped from the first word to the last. I am absolutely obsessed with Asia and her misfits and cannot wait for the last book to come out! SO freaking GOOD!
Review: 5/stars & 3.5 spice
I started this series after they had all been released and I am so grateful for that. Cause the cliffie we are left with at the end of this book would have killed me! This review may contain some spoiler information if you have not read the 1st book.
The twists and turns are strong in this book. Along with secrets exposed, lies and manipulation used to make these teens do others’ bidding. Asia, is a bada$$ FMC, and has some serious empathy for others that most in her situation would not. Her friends she has made are awesome, I really like Kate & Pink as her little posse. The MMC’s of this RH are: Camden (gang leader, talented artist, serious trust issue, and a man who kisses with intensity); Ford (the brooding, broken, mysterious fighter who would take on the world for Asia); Sonny (the dimpled, happy go lucky thief with a heart of gold and sinful mouth); and Eastern (the boy who held held her hand and bore witness to every sadness, the first boy to steal her heart, and will guard it forever). These guys just keep getting hotter and the steam is kicked up a bit in this book. Just when things seem to be going in the right direction…cliffie. On towards book 3 for me, cause I can not wait to see what happens.
I have been consuming this series and struggling when I have to put it down! These characters have grabbed ahold of me and won’t let go! The rollercoaster twists & turns, the secrets, the thin line between love and hate, and the intensity of Asia and her boys figuring out where they all stand. I can’t wait to see where these five go from here and how they handle the freaking CLIFFHANGER!
5 stars for Reject by Bea Paige. This is book two in the Academy of Misfits series. “You can’t observe the storm from a safe distance when the storm is already a part of you. We all have our roles to fill. I’d just been avoiding mine for a lot longer.” Asia has been tasked with a difficult mission in order to keep Eastern and her family safe. She must join Camden’s gang, The Hackney’s Hackers. However, what she believed about Camden may not be true. Camden, Sonny, and Ford each have their own issue. All of them are drawn to each other because of this. I can not wait to see what secrets we uncover next.
Holy hell. Ok, so this one has been sitting in my kindle que for far longer than anticipated. I’ve had a hell of a lot of awful stuff going on all at once, but this book was utterly amazing. I wish I had gotten to it sooner. I thought the first book was amazing, but this completely outdid it. I have fall so head over heels for these characters and all the crap they are going through. These impossible to navigate situations are not fair for children their age, but unfortunately I know all too well that life isn’t fair. Bra Paige did, as always, an incredible job bringing these characters, the storyline and their trials and emotions to life beautifully. I cannot wait to read the next book!!
Reject is the second book and continued where it left off. By its title alone, you may have an idea of what this story entails. I have become a fan of the author’s work after Finding Their Muse series. I guess it’s safe to say that Ms Paige knew how to right perfectly imperfect, broken heroes and heroines as we were shown each characters histories. This story and its characters wormed and burrowed their way into my heart, I have a feeling it will stay there for good. Though I know it will probably devastate me, the third and final book, Family, can’t come soon enough.
Bea Paige broke my heart in all the best ways with the magic of Reject. Asia and her guys make for such an amazing, breath-stealing story through ups and downs, uncomfortable situations, tension, and steam. So many lessons can be learned from the relationships and backstories that I’m reeling and definitely going to read again.
I can’t recommend this book enough. If you love angsts and fiercely kick behind characters, this is the book for you.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Whoa buddy what an emotional addition to this fantastic trilogy by Paige!! Asia is trying to come to terms with the horrible deal she had to make in order to save both herself and Easton. This has some disastrous consequences in order for her to pull it all off and I think I was just as stressed as she was as she was dealing with all of it. Thanks to a few surprises thrown into the mix we get a twist at the end that really sets things up for the next book. This is going to have one explosive ending to say the least. A riveting read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
The story picks up shortly after Delinquent. Asia has cut a deal and now needs to join a gang, which men’s hurting the people she’s been getting close to. I liked seeing Asia and the guys working through their relationships. I really came to like and understand Camden in this book. I loved the depths that we get to see with Sonny. Ford is a rock, and Eastern seemed to mature more in this story. I also like the friendships that Asia has with the girls and seeing them work through their issues. The story does end with a shocking revelation and I can’t wait to see how this will all be resolved in book 3!
Loved it, this story gets better and better with each book. I’m not sure how since it was amazing from the start. A must read and that ending, omg!!!!
OMG! I can’t believe the way this book finished bring on the next book, way to leave a girl hanging. The first two books in this series have been so, so good. I can almost feel the tension and emotions in the room with these kids. A bunch of delinquents, kids who got given the rough end of the stick. Dealt a crappy hand, but most of them have a hardened exterior to protect a gentle heart. I’ve been so entranced by this storyline and these misjudged characters, the Mum in me wants to give them a warm hug. It’s been such an emotional rollercoaster and I love nothing more than being hit by a WTF moment which this book has delivered.
I am having a tough time putting into words what I thought of Reject. I think there were so many thing I loved about the way Bea Paige developed the story, relationships, and characters. I can’t pinpoint my favorite part but I am gonna try and summarize some of my ramblings hahaha
So let me first say that Finding Their Muse was my favorite series of Bea Paige’s and I didn’t think anything could really compare. Academy of Misfits is trying its best to win out and Family is going to be the deciding factor. Its in a very very close second. I pretty much have Bea at the top of my one click list because she creates these real and raw stories, epitomizing some of the issues going on in our society right now. I love that its fiction, but I feel a sense of satisfaction while reading her books because she is able to weave in relatable feelings and situations and despite all the horribleness, people are able to find each other in the darkness and band together to get to the light. Ok, done with being so profound and serious, but I can’t help it after reading these books.
Let’s first talk about the situation. Not going to give spoilers but let’s just saw its really hard for Asia to stick to her plan and join Camden’s crew, to protect Eastern and their families. She has to put up with A LOT of crap from everyone, especially Kate. She has some groveling to do I my opinion. It would be amazing if she gets her own series, but we shall see haha. I loved the cameos of the Brothers Freed and Cal. I missed them and it was amazing to see their relationship still there and how they interacted with the kids. Made me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy, despite how the story ended. I will warn you, there is a big twist in this book that ends on a moderate cliffhanger. So much surprise and intrigue in this book, amazing job all around.
The tension, steam, and angst in this book is OFF THE CHARTS! I was sucked into the different interactions and fell in love with Camden so hard in this book. And Eastern too. I love Sonny from the very beginning and Ford got me all hot and bothered haha. I think Pink and Asia are my favorites. I love how loyal Pink is, not knowing what is happening, but still being there for Asia. Her commented about royalty made me snort so much! You will just have to read to figure that one out haha. And holy moly is Asia one of the strongest MCs I have ever read about. She allows vulnerability but she puts her loved ones first, and will do anything to make sure they are ok/get what they deserve. I loved how she broke down Camden’s walls, helped bring the group together, but allowed herself to feel and not shut everyone out. That is one complaint I have sometimes with these type of stories. Asia realizes she need them all and can’t hold out anymore. She finally gives in to her feelings and it was amazing to see everything come together. And phew was the spin the bottle game fun and .
So suffice it to say, I absolutely adored this book and can’t praise it enough. I am dying for Family, Book 3, but also dreading it because I don’t want their story to end. I have fallen for these characters already and feel like I will be so lost when they are done their story haha. Be prepared for a massive book hangover of the best kind. Love this book to pieces. Top 5 series of 2019 for sure
