Enslaved by the memories of my past, I hide away in plain sight. Happy to be viewed as the disgruntled daughter, the storm to my sister’s sunshine. To the outside world, I’m a loner. Inside my little bubble, I’m lonely.
I lost myself and I’m afraid to find the girl I used to be. She was weak. A word I refuse to be defined by any longer.
Enter Rocco Shay.
I hated him.
Until I didn’t…
I pushed … the chaos of my life into his, begrudgingly and unapologetically.

Oh well now my heart hurt while reading Rocco and Camryn’s story…it hurt a lot. They both broke me in the hardest way, but their story was one that needed to be written. It’s a story about two of the most damaged characters I’ve read in a very long time. And it’s also a story about healing that’s powerfully emotional.
Rocco has known little else but pain, hate and vengeance since his dearly loved mother was ripped from his life too young. Tragedy follows him well into adulthood and he’s hanging on by a thread, only for the sake of the one remaining person that means everything to him, his younger brother Parker. His world turns upside down when they both learn that their lifelong vendetta against the Rein family was based on nothing but lies. He has a new target for his rage and the last thing he expects is for Camryn Rein and her family to insert a detour in those plans.
Camryn absolutely broke my heart. Her horrific past has made her a shell of her former vivacious, feisty self and her father and sister don’t understand why she’s so closed off. Though I do love that she’s still got that whip smart sarcastic mouth on her! It’s that fire that Rocco is drawn to, much to his dismay. Camryn hates Rocco for his past misplaced vendetta against her family, but she can’t help see that he too is broken. The more time they spend together, the more that they begin to understand each other on a much more visceral level. The way that they slowly heal each other is painfully beautiful and enthralling. Camryn becomes a warrior ready to slay her demons, and Rocco finally accepts his self-worth.
The suspense and twists in this story will have you on the edge of your seat! The complexities of the storyline are exciting and nerve-wracking, and will leave your jaw open in surprise. Captivating plot with fantastic characters—Reining Devotion really is the F-ing best kind of book! 5+ stars for Rocco and Cami and their story!
Beautiful, emotional read between two broken people! It was AMAZING!! Gah! I’m going to be thinking about Rocco and Camryn for a long time!!

I have wanted the story of Rocco and Camryn since they were first introduced in Tangled Love. Even though these two were secondary characters they helped enrich that story and give it a depth that I think would have been lacking without them. Both of these characters piqued my interest and at times I almost wanted more of their story than I did for Parker and Codi. Almost.
In this book, I got that wish and then some. This book is about two damaged and broken people. Although to be fair, to paraphrase one of my favorite singers, they weren’t as much broken as they were bent. These two helped each other meld themselves into something stronger while at the same time found a sense of peace. They added color to each other’s lives in a world that was so dark for a myriad of reasons. Their connection, first in their animosity and distrust and later in their acceptance that they were better together was truly beautiful.
This book had a lot of twists that I was not expecting; the first being the character growth, the second being the storyline itself, and finally, the surprise of some very worthwhile and much needed secondary characters (some that were old and some that were new). These things combined made this such a beautiful story.
I am not sure where this amazing author duo will go next but I cannot wait to board the train because I know it will be a wonderful journey.
I have been looking forward to this story since before I had finished Tangled Love last year as something called out to me about Rocco. I couldn’t get him out of my head.
I was also interested in Ryn’s back story as something life shattering obviously had gutted her past.
Can these two broken souls help each other heal? In book 1 both of them seemed strong with hidden pain, but that solo strength can only work for so long. Their demons are so similar it’s hard to know if it will be the rise or downfall of them both.
I’ve been too busy enjoying the back and forth between the pair to stop and put my thoughts down as I go along, but that in itself should indicate how brillant this long awaited book is. There’s a reason I call Haley Jenner my powerhouse duo, and this book proves why.
Even if I did want to ramble on about this amazing book, I can’t really without spoiling anything as some of my favourite moments are massive spoilers. Prepare to be strapped on a rollercoaster of emotions that you’ll be unable to catch your breath on. That’s all I’ll say.
This book was everything I’ve been waiting for and more. In short, it was perfection and I’m glad I reviewed as I went as I’m speechless.
Heads up Rocco is still mine.
Reining Devotion is book two and is Rocco’s book! I loved it! Rocco and Camryn were two broken people but together they were whole. The love and connection they had for one another was everything. I seriously could not get enough of these two. Definitely a must read!
