I loved it. It’s interesting to know more about Malloron and his plans for Omegas. He’s very different to Drocco but is finding in Amara something he never thought of.
Amara is a great character too. Determined, good hearted, beautiful and engage with her cause of saving Omegas at any price. However she is finding a connection and a craving in king Malloron that she does not understand.
Well written and captivating. Malloron and Amara story started as enemies and is becoming a complex, unique and unexpected relationship. They both hide secrets and aren’t willing to trust each other. Hot and steamy scenes, interesting plot and very enjoyable Omegaverse book.
An intriguing and twisty story with some very dark undertones
This is my second read through of the book and I definitely enjoyed it better this time – some of that may well be because I’ve now read book 3 (I’d somehow missed that out last time and only read books 1 and 2). Yes judge me as you want – I totally deserve it .
For a chunk of this story Malloron didn’t appear to be quite as bad as the very unpleasant character portrayed in the first series of books. Strangely he started off as not too bad – yes he lied to Amara but he was almost respectful in the way he treated her. Well at least in his mind he had treated her really well. I liked how the politics of the region played into his treatment, view and expectations of her and how her naivety of the Western culture made it difficult for Amara to understand him.
In the hope of finding out some of his secrets, perhaps rescuing innocent children and also protecting her fellow omega’s, Amara makes an arrangement with Malloron. An arrangement which gives him use of her body, though really he has ulterior motives in mind. Can Amara find the information she seeks and keep herself safe too?
Unlike the first time I read this, I quickly found myself caught up in Amara’s story. I think I’d left too long a gap between reading the books last time and had lost some of the feel of the world. There are lots of dark elements in this story, though some of this was implied rather than experienced. In particular was treatment of the slaves as they were trained for and also served in the pleasure chambers.
Whilst I really liked Amara, there were times when she came across as quite naive. She didn’t believe Malloron over some things, like tainted food, yet at other times totally (and foolishly) trusted him. She also seemed to totally forget her mission at one point, though this was in part due to the manipulations of Malloron.
The chemistry between this couple was intense whilst the sex scenes had an element of BDSM about them. Whilst they weren’t really safe, sane or consensual at first, both parties found them an enjoyable experience – as did this reader! Most of the time Malloron treated Amara fairly well, even when he “punished” her at the end (and this was more mental than physical) he could never truly bring himself to be truly cruel to her. If dark and/or kink isn’t always your thing I’d still recommend the book since they were both fairly mild and minor in this.
Malloron is a deliciously depraved individual, the sort you love to hate to love. I’ve still not made my mind up if he is evil, or makes unpleasant decisions and choices for the greater good. I definitely liked him more by the end of the story than I did at the start, but there is still some way to go before he redeems himself.
There is lots of intrigue in the story and the twist at the end was TOTALLY unexpected. I can’t wait to see how this continues, I can’t even begin to imagine where we will journey next.
So far, this is actually my favorite book in the entire Myth of Omega series. I like Malloron and Amara. I found the magic elements more engaging, and Malloron. Also Malloron. If you’re like me, and found the Crave books a bit slow, imo it’s worth reading them to get to this book.
I think I prefer Reign to Ruin because it had the morally ambiguous anti-hero that I like reading about. Malloron is a darker character than Drocco. I could feel his crazy devotion to the heroine though, and I think readers who like reading about anti-heroes who are obsessive about the heroine will like this book.
This was a great new direction for the series to take. This also had a fun bodice-ripperesque trope that I like reading about, a spy/courtesan theme. Overall this an engaging book in the Omegaverse genre, and that cliffhanger! I’m now immediately moving on to the next book.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also, this is a new author to me, and it won’t be my last.
UGH, I hate cliffhangers. I was so wrapped up in this story I didn’t realize I was at the end. I truly enjoyed this story. It was very well written. Amara is one tough cookie considering she’s an Omega. Oh and King Malloron is one hot and kinky male. I will get the next two books asap, I need to know the rest of the story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
Reign to Ruin is book four in this addictive Omegaverse series.
This particular instalment centres on Alpha King Malloron of Eiros and the Omega Amara a spy masquerading as a servant within the royal castle.
My first experience with this author but definitely won’t be my last as this was such fantastically engrossing stuff.
So after Amara is discovered by the king red-handed the two strike a bargain though somewhat reluctantly on Amari’s behalf and as a result, Amara finds herself at the mercy of not just Malloron’s twisted desires but also that of her own awakening appetites.
So these two were certainly at loggerheads throughout.
I thought Malloron himself used his way of taking Amara: restrained and at his mercy, as a way to create distance between them both and to keep things as impersonal as possible.
fooling himself into a misguided sense of control over the entire situation.
This also, in my opinion, started off quite slow: but building momentum as the story unfolded.
So, questions I now have after finishing this:
Is Malloron quite what he seems?
What’s the deal with the children in the red dungeon?
There is so much mystery surrounding events here and I for one can’t wait to discover more.
I will also say this wasn’t quite as dark as I was originally expecting: it had its moments but had so much light to counterbalance the darker tones and the relationship between Malloron and Amara was a good mix his dark against her naive lighter nature.
Ultimately counterbalancing each other.
On a final note that cliffhanger: what a doozy: it was very unexpected (though in hindsight).
Fear, not folks part two is already out and the final episode releases very shortly.
This is a really strong start to Malloron and Amara’s journey can’t wait to see what happens next.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Reign to Ruin (Myth of Omega, #4).
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Malloron is a deceptive controlling alpha male who seems to be emotionally lacking when you are first introduced to his character. Enter our heroine Amara who is a spy trying to figure out the secrets of the dungeons. My heart goes out to Amara who makes a deal with Malloron trying to save her omega sisters and solve the puzzle of the Red Dungeon. Malloron has so many secrets I can’t imagine how this series will weave together. I find the storyline fascinating while the steamy scenes between Malloron and Amara kept me eagerly glued to my kindle. The bond forming between the two main characters was apparent the further along I read into the storyline. Just when I thought Malloron and Amara were going to have that bright shining passionate ending that every romance reader hopes for it fractured into a million pieces on the pages of my paperwhite. I can hardly wait to read the next installment in this compelling series!
Each must ask if the price they pay is worth the life they may save?
Mallaron – is the king of the western lands he is the strongest of the magic users because he has no problem doing what must be done to protect his families rule
He has recently been provided with evidence that leads him to believe that there are omega’s within his walls – magic users even – He sees this behavior as not only a crime against his kingdom but also as a way to acquire something he needs – an Omega -He only needs one ,the rest he can use to further advance his kingdom and secure his rule. What would an Alpha pay for the chance at owning an Omega – even if it is just for a few hours of pleasure
I would have no problem seeing Mallaron spend some time in his own pleasure dungeon, on the receiving end mind you – He is selfish and narcissistic
Amera – she leads the omegas in a search to find the children that Mallaron is kidnapping and holding in the red dungeon. As of yet, the Omegas have been unable to locate the children or any other information that will help them complete their mission. When Amera is uncovered she must choose between her own sanity and safety or that of her team – will her sacrifice be for not?
Will Amera survive Mallaron’s sadistic tendencies and cruel games or will she find herself a victim of the pleasure dungeons?
Ellis provides us with some engaging plotlines, there seem to be multiple within this story all of which are well fortified and lead the reader on a complicated and intense journey
The characters are vivid and each holds very detailed and individual characteristics that reflect their positions within the story – this also seems to enable them to burrow their way into the reader’s heart causing all sorts of happy as well as anxious feelings to emote
The world building is captivating and unique – again it is done in a way that truly allows the reader to easily slip into the story
I would have rated higher but there were some grammatical errors as well as a couple scene errors that were just too obvious to ignore, though the copy I read was provided to me by hgarc so this may not affect the final copy
This series is intended for adult readers and does take place in the Omegaverse as such it is filled with lots of dub con intimacy scenes as well as graphic scenes of violence
