Where to begin?…. First, Regrets was my first read by Nicole Dykes and it definitely will not be the last! Secondly, this story had me wrapped around its finger from the very beginning. I could not put it down!
This story has plenty of angst, romance and heartbreak. If you are looking for a great story to get wrapped up in for the day, I highly recommend. These character’s are going to pull at your heart and leave you wanting more!
4.5 Stars
Nicole Dykes is a new to me author, and obviously I had no idea what I’d be getting myself into. And let me tell you, she had me raging and wanting to throw anything in sight. My emotions were shot, and my heart was hanging by a thread not knowing once the thread was severed if said heart would shatter or stay in tact albeit nicked and bruised.
Penelope and Linc’s story is an emotional ride. It’s raw, gritty, and painful. They are two broken people submerged in guilt and shrouded in darkness. In order to try and move on they need to stop hurting each other and find a way to heal.
Regrets was a heartbreaking, soul aching, beautiful story about two imperfect people. P and Linc take you on a gut wrenching journey filled with so much angst. They are two people who belong together, but life has a few roadblocks along the way that makes it almost impossible for them to be together. Its a whirlwind of emotions, but in the end their story is one that is filled with hope and healing.
4.5 Unbelievable Stars
This was my first Nicole Dykes book and it definitely won’t be my last!
I loved Linc and Penelope!
This book tore at my heart! Man, oh man! The angst was real. I’m still trying to sort out my emotions!
If you haven’t read any of Nicole Dykes books I highly recommend Regrets! An absolute MUST READ!
It’s dark. It’s heartwrenching. It’s painful. It’s full of love and passion. It saves and it takes away. It’s full of secrets and guilt. It’s a love triangle that never quite came to be. It rides the line of love and hate. I don’t do much dark, but I loved it.
This book consumed me whole heartily. From the first page I knew I wasn’t going to stop until the end and even then I didn’t want it to. When brothers Colt and Lincoln meet Penelope they both have this instant connection with her. They come from privilege and Penelope comes from a broken home living in foster care. She becomes a part of the family growing closer to everyone over the years. I love seeing the relationship between Colt and Penelope grow but Penelope changes herself to be what he wants whereas Lincoln sees her true self.
Lincoln is seen as the bad boy who always causes trouble and Colt is the one that likes to please his parents even if isn’t truly what he wants or is. This book flip flops from past to current between Penelope and Lincoln. One night changes their life’s drastically with everything falling apart. There is so much chemistry between Lincoln and Penelope that is denied for so many years and everyone around them sees it but them. They use each other to hurt one another. Secrets come to light and what Lincoln and Penelope start building and healing from comes crashing down. My heart broke for them and I felt the pain they both were feeling after so much pain. I sat down and read it in one night because I was so consumed by their stories.
Nicole Dykes kills it again!! This book just might be one of my absolute favorite books though! I literally finished reading this book in a matter of hours! The story for Linc and Penelope definitely has its ups and downs! You can literally feel how much both of them are struggling in the book and that when they come together they are able to truly help each other. Neither wants to admit the truth of what they are truly feeling about the other and that just causes more of a struggle between the two. Throughout the book you literally find out some interesting surprises that leave you saying OMG did i just read that and did that really happen! It keeps you on the edge of your seat and no able to put the book down for a minute.
A beautifully tragic story of young love, loss, lies, deceit and learning to overcome the bad life brings. I couldn’t imagine being torn between two brothers and loving them both with everything I had. Penelope came from nothing, lived a life being tossed from foster home to foster home, but her life changed dramatically when she met Linc and Colt. Trying to navigate love at such a young age is never easy, but is made a whole lot harder when two brothers who are vastly different tug at her heart. This book had it all. From heartache to learning to cope and moving on with life after devastation. I love how she shows how flawed we are as humans. How we let our thoughts of who we should present ourselves as over run our heart and what we truly desire. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings. This was my first book by Nicole Dykes and I am now completely hooked on her words. I will be reading more of her work. If I could give this book more then 5 stars I would, a must read I highly recommend it.
I say this every time i read one of Nicole’s books but damn she had done it again with this one. I couldn’t put this one down. Penelope and Linc might have their issues but I love the fact that they are real and they are dealing with real life issues. The whole time reading this book I was hoping that they would get their crap together and become the couple that they wanted to be just didn’t know how to be. I absolutely loved the ending and can not wait for Asher’s story!!! I am so excited and want to read it now!!!
By the way, if you haven’t read any of Nicole’s books then you are seriously missing out and need to get to reading them. They are amazing. She makes you feel like you are apart of the stories which I love. Once you pick one up you will need to read them all!!!! Get to it!!!!
Regrets is without a doubt something you would regret not reading if you enjoy forbidden romance. It is a forbidden romance with a twist. It offers the reader a mix of angst, betrayal, lust, love and emotional baggage that will have you turning each page to see what happens. Can Penelope and Linc move on from the judgement of family and friends for what they consider a betrayal? Read to find out if they can heal from the past so they can make a future together.
Nicole Dykes nails it with Regrets. It’s everything you love about Nicoles writing and then some. Its full of angst, passion, heartbreak and redmption, Penelope, Linc and Colt will break your heart and put it back together again. I loved this book and I can’t recommend it enough.
How far are you willing to go to numb pain? Would you destroy yourself to feel something, anything, other than earth shattering heartbreak?
I can’t describe this story, but I have to describe Ms. Nicole and how she made me feel. I have truly never been drawn into something so deep that I only wanted to throw anything around me. I wanted to scream and cry for how these characters felt and the pain that consumes them.
You are pulled into a love affair that’s not what I consider a love triangle, but love sphere. It’s a continuation of going round and round with so many emotions. The push and pull from each of them is hate, anger, pain, lust, and love. When you think it may get better, it truly wrecks you to the point you think there is no return.
And after you survey the damage, you have to decide what is the road that leads you home to repair your soul.
Holy hell this isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s a need to read
OMG Nicole has smashed it with this one and has seriously upped her game as this story is heartfelt and gut wrenching and has a twist i was NOT expecting at all.
I loved the way Nicole drew the reader in with in depth world building and felt I was actually there with them. The characters had depth and each one seemed to grab my attention without detracting from the others.
I absolutely loved this and really hope Ash gets a story next.
I don’t even have words… seriously all I can say is WOW! Nicole Dykes has SERIOUSLY outdone herself with this book! Linc & P kind of stole my whole soul! My emotions were all over the place reading but it’s literally the most beautiful story!! I loved every second… now bring on Asher!!
NICOLE – I SERIOUSLY HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO WRITE AND GROW AND WRITE AND GROW FOREVER BECAUSE YOU BLOW MY MIND EVERY TIME!!
If you are familiar with Nicole Dykes books, you know she is an amazing writer. This book…… it is evident she put her blood, sweat and tears in this one. You will absolutely love Penelope and Linc. These two are lost souls trying to find their way. They are not always good for one another actually more not then they are. They both have secrets and despair. There hearts are broken of tragedy. These characters are written so well that you are gutted throughout the book. The other characters Colt, Nora, Asher, and Lola bring so much to the story. Each brings one more emotional puzzle piece to make it whole. This book is by far the best book Nicole has written. You will not regret reading this one.
Such a heart breaking story of two people, hurting, placing blame, trying to find away past the pain. Linc and Cole are from the right side of the tracks. Then one day they meet Penelope, a foster girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Two brothers instantly fall, as does she. So begins their story. This was such a great story and I loved every character in the book. I can’t wait for Asher’s story!
I don’t even have words. This story has literally blown me away!! NIcole you have seriously out done yourself Honestly your BEST book by far!!! Linc and P are EVERYTHING!!! My absolute FAVORITE couple!!! Their story was gut wrenchingly BEAUTIFUL!!!! A story that will leave you breathless and in all your feels
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All I can say is WOW! This book is unlike anything I have read in awhile. Lots of heartache and tears are involved along with some steamy hotness.
Linc, Penelope, and Colt have been best friends for years. Colt is the perfect brother while Linc acts out and is always in trouble. Penelope tries to act perfect like Colt. To be good for him but Linc sees the real her. When one mistake happens it quickly turns to tragedy and leaves broken peices behind.
I absolutely loved this book. Couldn’t put it down and am super excited about Asher’s book! 5+
LEGITIMATELY MY FAVORITE BOOK BY NICOLE SO FAR!
Regrets is everything I love about Nicole Dykes’ writing dialed up to the next level! It’s darker, edgier, and more deliciously addictive than anything she’s written before. A forbidden romance full of angst, lust, and passion I couldn’t devour quickly enough.
Get ready for the beginning on a whole new world of characters you’re never going to get enough of.
I really enjoyed reading Linc and P’s story. The rough emotions and character chemistry were off the charts. They story was gripping and I couldn’t put this book down. Another hit from Nicole.
Quite different from Nicole’s usual style. This book deals with a love triangle that is not spoken about or acknowledged and the fall out when relationships change.
Pea and Colt were inseparable since he and Linc brought her home age 9. Friendship bloomed to more and the love and security he provided were like her dreams finally come true. Sure there was a..something with Linc, a need to niggle and pick at each other but there were still something sweet at times to.
Fast forward a year and life is nothing like it was. The family is recovering from the events and Linc and P are forced to face past demons and then present unexpected visitors bearing news none of them saw coming.
I really enjoyed the second half of the book. The beginning I felt took a bit of time to establish how they came to be where they were and why they were behaving like they were. I didn’t find either character particularly likeable initially but as the story unfolds and past interactions show more of them you get more of a sense of where they are coming from. Looking forward to the rest of the family getting their books.
