Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady
By: TL Clark
5 out of 5 stars
The story Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is a historical romance book. It is a story that pulls you in from the beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have read the final page. It is a book that takes you back to a time when there are grand balls, courtships, young ladies have their “coming out season”, and all the rules that go along with it. It is a time when society dictates what is acceptable and in order to avoid scandal one must conform. I loved reading about the character of Lady Anne. It is her first “season” and a marriage match is the goal. Anne is strong, intelligent, and tends to say what she really thinks. Who will catch Anne’s eye and win her over? What does the future hold for Lady Anne? Read this book to find out. This story has heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. My emotions went up and down with each chapter that I read. I grew to care about Lady Anne and wanted her to find happiness. This book will draw you in and I found myself getting lost reading about all the different characters and their interactions with Lady Anne. Most characters are either family, friends, or helpful to Lady Anne. There however are those that have their own selfish agenda. Don’t miss out on a book that will transport you to another period of time and have you glued to the pages. I highly recommend reading this story.
‘Regency Love’ is a delightful journey through Regency England, a period familiar to readers of Jane Austen. This is a most original and entertaining work, carefully researched and attentive to detail, and still absolutely captivating in its delivery of the story of Anne Frithringham.
The characters are vivid and animated, drawing the reader into their world and playing their roles to perfection. The author has created original personalities consistent with the world and era in which they live, and who are concerned with the things that ladies and gentlemen of the time would definitely have had to deal with. Their interactions and dialogue are witty and engaging, keeping the reader deeply involved with their experiences and welfare.
The plot is carefully structured and well developed, so that the narrative flows naturally. The end result is a book that is very hard to put down once started, and which leaves the reader completely satisfied at the end.
Written for a considerably less conservative audience, this story deals with subjects that Austen could only ever hint at, yet it does so with language and style that remains tastefully consistent with Austen’s world.
‘Regency Love’ is deliberately not Austen, but it does feel like Austen. This reader is confident that, had they met, Anne Frithingham and Austen’s Elizabeth Bennet would have got along famously.
What a wonderful story! Told from the viewpoint of Lady Anne, an innocent young girl about to make her debut among the Ton in London, it captures you from the first page.
It had me laughing out loud at times, while at others I could feel the angst of the characters as they struggled to follow society’s rules, going against their true feelings for fear of ridicule or worse.
Well written and full of great characters, it’s an enjoyable read following life in Regency times. I’ve read a couple of the author’s books, and this is her best yet! Highly recommend.
Creative, Different and I loved it. This is not your typical Regency romance book. It is chronicle of the life of a debutante, finding suitors, accepting a proposal, getting married, the shock of marital relations and the lack of information given beforehand, birthing sons and daughters, only to begin the cycle all over again when the former debutante is a mother and her daughter is now the debutante. I really liked reading it. It was curiously informative and realistic. The characters, some devious, some dear friends, some loved as a sibling and others of family devotedly loved. The plot and subplots are diverse and intriguing. In Lady Anne Frithringham and her circle of friends’ world, the story includes what happens to them. It includes the different ways marriages happen. Some happy, others sad, some abusive. It even includes a loved gay couple. The story continues to explore what happens during the young lady’s life cycle. It is amazing, admirable, stressful, endurable, patient, tragic, painful and compassionate. A worthy read. You will not be disappointed. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved being transported into the world of the Regency period and its marriage ‘market’ as experienced by the nobility and upper classes at that time. A well researched and constructed read. A good read!!!
TL Clark has outdone herself with ‘Regency Love’.
It is a beautifully written indulgence into the life of a young lady faced with her coming out. Clark writes this engaging story as if she herself has lived in the early 1800s and, in doing so, draws the reader back in time.
There are many surprises which keep you from putting this book down.
Jane Austen would be proud to say the least.
ONE INTRIGUING ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Clark rocks this bad boy from start to finish. She really brings it together in this amazing tale. Wrangling the trials and tribulations along with sharp corners and sleek lines meld this baby together piece by piece. Such depth and individuality. Strong characters, amazing storyline with an outstanding plot keeps you immersed till the end. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches and scrapes really bring this bad boy bursting to life flawlessly. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it’s easy to get drawn into this incredibe work of art. Remarkable job Clark, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady By TL Clark. Once again I found myself drawn into a genre I’m not particularly interested in. But I was definitely pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. The author does a wonderful job of writing a story that paints a very clear picture in your mind while you read. The attention to even the smallest details was great. Each character brings something different to the overall story being told. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed. The author truly writes the emotions that’s intended to be felt, I was all over the place but in a good way. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. I’m giving this story a four star review and recommend it.
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is a four star novel. In Regency, England, we learn a lot about the era that Lady Anne is living in and how women are treated. She is about to have her coming out and needs to find a husband. After having all of her training that she needs, her mission is to find a husband. Only problem is that there aren’t many choices. With her standing, she has to make sure her suitors are allowable for her father. But when her heart falls for someone below her standing, will she be able to allow her head to follow or will she break her heart for her father and his cares about standing in society?
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark was an intriguing read that hooks you from the start, and keeps you until the last page is flipped.
As a fan of historical fiction, I was excited to read this book. Right out of the gate I was pulled in, and was transported back in time to a place of lace, ball gowns, courting and titles. It was well researched, authentic, and the detail not only paints a realistic pictured, it brings you into the story itself. The world building was top shel, and the characters were well written, well rounded complex and compelling. My only complaint, is that this book is a bit on the longer side, over 400 pages. I found there was some filler along the way, I first notice it at the start with a letter to the MC’s younger sister. I get what was trying to be done, as I am a fan of Jane Austen, but I feel like that letter didn’t add to the plot, and was a bit dry. But other than that, I was impressed with this read, and I will be checking out more from this author.
Overall this book is worth your time and energy. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that weather if you like this genres or not, this book will take you back to a time long gone, and will give you that inside look into the minds of the women who at the time, did not have choices of their own.
Happy Reading

Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady
by TL Clark
This author does an excellent job on taking you back into history. I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed everything I have read, I will admit that even knowing I like this author I was a little unsure about this story only because I don’t normally read books from this era. I am ecstatic that I did decide to read it because it took me to a place of wonderful balls, parties, clothing, and then some not so flattering things from that time. Reading about Lady Anne and what she experiences during her “coming out ” season was entertaining, eye opening and made me really like her. She is naive about men and so choosing a would be husband is very difficult, it’s hard to know who has good intentions and who doesn’t. Lady Anne’s father makes things even more difficult for her but ultimately he makes the decision since that’s how it’s done back then. There are some wonderful characters in this story that I grew fond of. This story was so well written that I felt like I was there in it. I truly enjoyed this read with its happy times and sad ones, along with witty banter. I highly recommend this book.
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady was a great 5 star read.
Lady Anne is at the age for her coming out and looking for a husband. She has been trained by her mother on how a young lady should act. She has many suitors, some are way older and definitely not anyone she prays will ask for her hand. Her dream is to find someone she can love. When she finally meets the one, he turns out to be the most perfect man and exactly what she was praying for. Can they have a HEA?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. It was great reading a historical romance, it’s been awhile for me. There was so much going on, not with just Lady Anne but her friends and family as well. It was interesting reading how women were to be seen not heard. I have to say I also had a LOL moment on her wedding night, it was great. I really enjoyed the ending and I look forward to reading more from this series.
5 Star
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is wonderful Historical Romance story that I loved reading. This is one of most favorite genres. I reading about how life was back then and how they lived. I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. The authors style of writing and her characters are very well developed and I found myself imagining what it would have been like to live in that time period. I found myself not only lost in the pages but a bit emotional at times as well. Lady Anne is a strong, intelligent woman who tends to say what she’s thinking about and it’s her first season. Her goal is a marriage match. Will someone catch her eye? What is in store for her future? Find out what happens next in this must read book.
I have a soft spot for regency romance and had high hopes for this book. The summary definitely grabbed my attention. Boy oh boy the book didn’t disappoint at all. I found the storyline to be engaging, the characters fascinating and well developed. Even with the social standards that were the norm at that time, I appreciated the personality we could still see in our heroine. Loved every single page and am looking forward to reading it again very soon!
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark
5-Stars
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark was a compelling and insightful read. I loved following Lady Anne in this novel and greatly enjoyed reading her letters to her younger sister. It was fascinating reading what life was like for her during that time period and being privy to her thoughts that were not able to be shared at the time. She was a beautiful person and it was fascinating reading her opinion on the process of finding a husband compared to swine at the beginning. It was something I found hilarious but also true. This was such an excellent read and the story itself was easy to follow. This novel is definitely worth its 5-stars and I highly recommend it!
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady by TL Clark is a new type of historical romance for me. I would give this book a four out of five stars. I really loved the setting and point of view. I love reading a story where the thoughts are expressed and Lady Anne’s realistic expectations kept me grounded. I really struggled to put the book down, I definitely had those moments where I had to put my kindle down and breath and they jump back.
I’m not usually a huge fan of Regency Romance, yet I enjoyed the narrative in this story. There are several threads all interwoven through the story and they unravel at a great pace.
The character development, the story line, the pace of the story was all terrific.
****
This has been one of my favorite genes for as long as I can remember. This author brings the story to life. I was pulled in right from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down once I started it. The characters are well developed and I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story. Lady Anne is in need of a husband and she has her sights set on Lord Felsenworth. Can he prove that he is the one for her despite his status? Great characters, I highly recommend this book.
This book is a wonderful portrayal of love in the Regency period. Thoroughly researched, the author takes strides to make this story as authentic as possible and she does not disappoint! The book reads just like a Jane Austen novel. The historical introduction is insightful and sets the mood of the story. Anne is a character the reader cannot help but fall in love with. Her longing for love and companionship conflicts with her sense of duty. I’m a sucker for Regency romances and this one is a must read for romance fans!
I have always found the Regency era to be fascinating just because I see where we are at now compared to back then. To read about women who were treated like property (and in all actuality, land was probably treated better than a woman) and add in all the loose tongues with gossip and I’m hooked. I’m also a little picky on my historical reads considering I have a degree in history but I do have to say I loved this! The dialogue to the storyline had me hooked! This author painted everything perfectly that the story flowed and I couldn’t put it down. Even the history buff in me was giddy!
