“An altogether unsatisfactory arrangement” After their father’s death, Miss Judith Taverner and her brother Peregrine travel to London to meet their guardian, Lord Worth, expecting an elderly gentleman. Library Journal Georgette Heyer is unbeatable.
Sunday Telegraph Light and frothy, in the vein of the author’s other Regency novels, this follows the fortunes of Miss Judith Taverner and her brother, Sir Peregrine. A good introduction to Heyer’s period stories…
The Booklist Reading Georgette Heyer is the next best thing to reading Jane Austen.

I enjoyed this book a great deal and look forward to …
Heyer’s first Regency. The hate-at-first-sight trope. The model for all Regency heroes ever after: rich, handsome and powerful. Love it!
Regency Buck (Sourcebooks, 1935) by Georgette Heyer is a satisfying Regency romance replete with a strong-willed heroine, an autocratic but well-meaning hero, a twisting plot, and all the trappings of England’s early 19th century Regency society.

The only reason this doesn’t get a five star is there is a follow up book called The Infamous Army that is intensely sad to me. So as a result, every time that character appears in this story that other book is what I think of and know not everyone gets a happy ever after. I like happy ever after.
