Reed’s time as Alpha of his pack should be over. Didn’t a six-hundred-year-old wolf deserve to retire? But life doesn’t always work out the way a wolf wants. Some mad scientist used him and his potent werewolf blood to turn three human females. Now he has two packs instead of one, but none among them are stepping up to take his place. Too many secrets among his children have all but destroyed … many secrets among his children have all but destroyed his original family. Now with the deaths of both his Alpha descendants haunting the pack, there’s no one left in his gene pool to lead. Duty and a healthy fear of the agencies his grandson Travis told about the pack requires that Reed lead them until a new alpha can be found, no matter how much he wishes otherwise.
While Ariel’s nanotechnology blood transfusion returned some of his physical youth, science did not change his mental age or negate the weariness he feels in his very bones. The only bright spot is the Russian werewolf. Katarina Volkov is so full of fire—so full of herself. The touchy female wolf makes him feel things he hasn’t felt in years. Too bad he isn’t free to enjoy her.

First, let me say that from the very beginning, reading how Katarina Volkov annoys/irritates/fascinates Reed, made me smile, laugh, and want to keep reading to see how this story worked out. She calls him ‘Temptation’ and you never really know (from the start) if that’s a good thing, or a bad thing. This book was one heckuva ride!
Lots of action, watching ‘the kids’ grow up and come into their shifter lives, bad guys galore – all of it kept me on the edge of my seat. No spoilers but some of these shifters are really something! Reed needs to dig deep to find himself in order to help not only his pack but himself. And Katarina needs to learn how to trust – something a lone, hunted wolf finds hard to do.
I love these stories! The author always manages to make me laugh while feeding me suspense and intrigue. Loved it!
It is hard to pin down what I liked best about this story. A brooding older(really older) man. A sexy smart mouthed alpha woman, who tries to protect and take care of everyone. Reed’s three Nano Wolf “daughters“. Three special Nano children who are wild cards. Reed and Katarina have an instant attraction, but neither are looking for a mate. Even though this book builds on previous books there is enough backstory that the jest is there and you don’t get lost in the sci-fi of the tale. Katarina’s snarky Russian attitude adds a witty flavor especially to Reed’s “Old-fogey” straight man. There’s action, wolves and bears (oh my!), family drama, and so much heart. I loved this heartwarming edge of your seat read!
This is Reed: Nano Wolves 4 written by Donna McDonald. We are back with the various shifters and all the evil scientists trying to engineer new species. Reed is an older shifter who gets caught up in the tangles. Katarina is the she-wolf who will bring him down. I love the funny banter between them and the way Katarina butchers the language. It’s cute and quirky. Don’t miss this book in the series! It’s action packed and well worth the read!!
An ancient wolf who has been alone for so long, now has a family but is still looking for something to ease his retirement as pack alpha.
Katarina is a lone wolf from Russia, alienated from her family many years ago. When she is rescued by Heidi, she’s brought to Reed’s pack…as she follows Nicolai’s steps.
These two are priceless together. I love getting to see his created wolf daughters and how they’ve thrived, as well as getting to see more of the nano wolf cubs. I would love to see more on the cubs as they grow.
I have been waiting for Redd’s story for several years now. I think the first of the three shifter “daughter’s” stories came out almost 5 years ago. I have been wanting to know more about Reed since then. Reed (Nano Wolves Book 4) by Donna McDonald did not disappoint. It has action, bad guys to take down, digging deep to find your true self and love. From the beginning Reed seems to be set off by the Russians are not just coming, they have arrived. The instant attraction is off the charts along with Katarina Volkov’s snarky attitude.
The story flows so that you are hooked without even realizing it from the beginning road trip. There is a blend of humor and serious situations so that it feels real. Katarina Volkov may call Reed by the nickname Temptation but he is one who is very tempted. If his life had not been shaken up before it is certainly done so now. Enough of the back story is given so a new reader to the series will not be lost. I recommend reading the entire series since the Nano Wolves is one of my favorites by Donna McDonald.

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Reed by Donna McDonald
Nano Wolves #4
Stepping back into the world of shapeshifters and mad scientists was a fun treat for me today. In this time of pandemic, lock-down, and wondering what the future holds in store it was fun to escape into a paranormal romance. The fact that there is a happily ever after for Reed and Katarina made it all the better.
What I liked:
* Katarina: strong, feisty, Russian alpha female wolf shapeshifter with a rare sense of humor, strength of her convictions and a personality that I loved.
* Reed: four times the age of Katarina and feeling every year he has lived he is a man that is old but in a young body and…he is definitely interested in Katarina.
* Yana: intriguing sister of Katarina…wonder if she will get a book of her own
* Steward, Kent & Aggie: changed through science experiments but closer than blood siblings these three are more than their age might indicate and very smart. I enjoyed getting to know Steward better and wonder if the three might show up in future books in the series
* Getting to see the characters from previous books in this series
* Wondering if there will be more books in this series and if so who might star in them
* That good prevailed over evil
* The epilogue…and wondering how everything would work out in the future
What I didn’t like:
* Katarina’s wicked father
* The evil scientists
* The shifters that sold their kind to scientists
* Not knowing whether or not there will be more books in the series
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Would I recommend reading previous books in this series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review
4-5 Stars
great addition to the Nano Wolves series. Can be read even if you haven’t read the first three books. I would say though you will want to go back and read them. Great characters in this book that I hope the author will share more of these in other books
