S fun and entertaining series. Start at the beginning and love the goofball brothers enough to adopt them
The Ferguson series always provides an interesting story that is a quick fun read.
Love the movie star references to Bogart. I love the Reed Ferguson books
I love this Series, look forward to reading more by the Author.
A good read for most anyone. Light reading but very entertaining.
Reed Ferguson is a bumbly PI who gets the weirdest cases to solve. I read all 3 books but I’ll never read them again!
After the first book, you can pretty much predict the rest.
All of the Reed Ferguson books are great fun reads! I have all
Very enjoyable books. Can usually guess “who dun it” before the end but, still well worth the read.
Reed Ferguson is a a fine, movie-obsessed character. The plots are interesting, really held my attention, quirky, fun. I might have given these 5 stars, but I guess I have a really high standard – they aren’t immortal, exquisitely written literature. But they’re a darn good read.
This young detective could not stay put if trouble. He had great friends who were always willing to help. Fun read.
Readable but not as good as her other books.
Loved these books cannot wait to read the entire series.
Reed Ferguson is a private investigator who loves movie detectives, especially Humphrey Bogart. In his first case, ‘This Doesn’t happen in the Movies”, we meet the characters who are his friends and who help him solve his cases. There are the intellectually challenged Goofball Brothers, Ace and Deuce, who live on the floor below him, and their older brother Bob who doesn’t live with them but makes sure they are safe, and Cal, a computer nerd who gets more and more involved in the cases although he’d rather stay home with his computers. Reed is hired by Amanda to find out if her husband Peter is dead. Amanda wants Peter dead so she can get his insurance money. Reed gets beaten up, a recurrent theme in each story. In “Real Estate Rip Off,” Jack comes to Reed to find out how his brother Ned died. It is ruled an accident but Jack does not think it could be. In “The Maltese Felon”, Gail comes to Reed because her expensive show dog has been stolen and the thieves want a large ransom. After the dognappers get their money, the dog is found tied to something where people could see it. Then another dog is dognapped and after the ransom is paid, it too is found. In the third dognapping, there is no ransom note so Jack goes to the dog show and finds suspicious people reading the addresses of the dogs’ owners.. Jack follows them and gets the dog back and the men arrested. When another dog is stolen, Reed figures out that there are more dognappers and deduces who they are. “Elvis and the Card Cheat” is a short story about a valuable baseball card that is stolen from an Elvis impersonator. Each mystery is very enjoyable and fast reading. Other mystery lovers would really enjoy them.
Kept me entertained thru each.
Reed Ferguson is an interesting character. He seems believable and even likable. The stories hold my interest without being gory or obscene. Totally enjoyable reading that kept me up reading in bed a little later than I had planned on several occasions.
Thoroughly entertaining characters.
Reed and his friends are likeable and the mystery builds steadily. Having no violence, sex or profanity is a relief, sorta. I’ve read the whole series and look forward to the next one.
These are such good reads. Love the characters – especially his neighbors.
I love all of the Reed Ferguson books. They are well written and entertaining with engaging characters.
