Excellent action packed story, with special forces working a case at the hometown of Hunter. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down! The characters are interesting, the plot keeps me on the edge of my seat. Hunter had been wounded during his last assignment, and was sent to his hometown to find out who was a drug/gun runner and selling them overseas. The problem Hunter had, was the assignment included his ex-girlfriend as one of the suspects. The intel pointed to his ex and her family being involved in moving the drugs/guns and Hunter had to regain her trust again. Hunter thought he could keep his past in the past, but soon realized he still cared, and again something didn’t seem right.
Ms Cross is a excellent example of keeping the reader glued to the action, with twist and surprises, plus giving a sweet love story, that’s far from simple, or boring and on the edge of my seat needing to know what was going to happen next. I’m so glad to have gotten to read one of Ms Cross’s books and hope I can pick up another one of her stories soon.
I wish I knew a protective Special Forces alpha male like Hunter!
I found the action-packed unpredictable plot to be exciting and the witty banter humorous. The only things that reduced my rating were a few spelling errors and what I believed to be incorrect word usage. These few items didn’t distract me from the telling of the story.
If you like a steamy military romance that is action-packed, I’d suggest you give this one a try!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Such a great book. I highly recommend reading this story.
So full of action, intrigue, hot alpha military men, suspense and intrigue.
Great story line.
A must read.
Hunter and Evangeline have a history. When she broke his heart, he went into the military. A mission he was on went very wrong. So his team is sent Mercy, MS to find the terrorists selling weapons. He finds and sees more than he wants to. Lots of action, danger and triggers for some.
Love this collection!
A must read!
Another author recommended the Men of Mercy Series so I downloaded Redemption River. After reading it, I downloaded the entire series. It is well written, action-packed and has great characters.
Great
When you loose fellow soldier because you were bad info it hurts. Hunter felt it was a set up and they lost Shane. Now he was back in his home town to stop a shipment of guns and maybe use the family of the girl he left behind.

This is Evie Videl’s and Hunter James’ story. It’s a fantastic second chance story of the big bad military man and the one he left behind.
Trouble is brewing in Mercy, Mississippi and it just happens to be Hunter James’ home town. It’s been over five years since he caught Evie kissing Marcus and he left town to join the military. Now she’s part of his mission but can he keep the wall up around his heart while trying to seduce information out of her?
I am a HUGE military romance fan and this author definitely did NOT disappoint. This is a great series opener, that introduces us to all the members of Task Force Scorpion or TF-S. I’m loving this series, Men of Mercy, and I can’t wait to read more.
Anyway, I really liked Hunter, his bluntness was many things I loved about him, as well as his alpha maleness. I felt so bad for him sometimes because he was carrying so much pain through what happened with Shane. He held so much in and I felt so bad for him sometimes. I loved that he also had a soft side. I also thought from the moment he went back home and saw Evie he was still in love with her.
Evie, damn she was a strong ass female and I loved it. I loved that she tried to defend her mum from her crazy asshole ex. The way she also like Hunter tried to put everything on her shoulders. I really enjoyed how both Evie and Hunter were as a couple. He was so protective of her and it was so cute. Evie was especially strong as she went through a domestic violence relationship and for it to come up on top and stronger than ever was really good.
Hunter is great at his job, like the way he moved in those action-packed scenes, as well as taking command of his team. It was amazing. I also loved that he was willing to do whatever it took to get Evie back from her asshole ex. Marcus was such an asshole, I don’t think I’ve hated a character as much as I did him. The way he treated Evie was absolutely disgusting and some of the scenes when he had taken Evie.
I loved the action-packed scenes in this novel and it was so well written, it was an amazing story and characters and plot! The story is extremely fast paced and the sex scenes are very well written, I really enjoyed Lindsay’s writing. I fell in love with this series and I cannot wait to read more!
Redemption River is the 1st book in the Men of Mercy series and was action pact awesomeness. Dayum my weakness for yummy bad a$% military men, this book, OMG, so many yummy sexy soldiers I was in heaven! I got the ARC of the second book in this series Resurrection River so OCD had me buying this book. That way I could read them in order since this book’s hero and the next book’s hero are brothers. This is the first time I have read a book from Lindsay Cross and I really enjoyed it. I also just want to say that the covers for this series are smokin’ hot.
What this book is about
Hunter James is back in his hometown on an under cover mission. A mission he doesn’t want. He has to get close to his ex to see if she is involved in running guns to a terrorist group. He doesn’t want to get close again to the only woman he has ever loved, the woman who broke his heart when he saw her kissing another man. Will Hunter be able to put his past hurt aside to do his mission? Or will he find out that things aren’t always what they seem?
I loved Hunter! He was all kinds of yummy goodness. Kick butt super solider, protective, and a little playful. He had major home issues when he lived with his real parents, before he was adopted and those issues color his judgement. He jumps the gun and thinks Evie cheated on him and leaves for years without saying a word to her. Hunter felt very realistic to me. He wasn’t a perfect hero he made some mistakes, but he has a good heart.
Evie bless her heart, has had it rough the last 5 or so years. The love of her life just leaves and doesn’t tell her why. Then when she finally decides to move on with her life she gets into an relationship with a abuse jerk that almost kills her. And now he is trying to use her to run what he told her was drugs but really it’s gun to Mexico and launder money. Evie has lived though hell but she is still fighting to piece her life back together. She is a survivor. Evie is very sweet, and loving, and she tries to be brave even when she is scared to death. My heart hurt for Evie. She was very endearing.
Hunter and Evie together are super hot. They have a past and I wish I could have seen a little more of it. Evie is very forgiving because if Hunter would have just asked her about things, it would have saved them both a ton of hurt. I really liked the secondary characters especially Jared, and Ranger. Redemption River is a non stop thrill ride. The only reason it’s a 4 star and not a 5 is because there was a few times at the start of the book that I was a little confused and even though the book is like 300 or more pages their relationship felt rushed. Loved the HEA, and I can’t wait to start Ranger and Amy’s story.
