A well-written mystery introducing a series. A police detective is getting over the tragic loss of his wife and son, finding solace in his work. Makes you want to read more, watch him grow.
Detective Winston Radhauser is someone you’ll want to read again and again. This was Susan’s first book. She is now on number 10: lots of good reading ahead for those starting with the original.
Redemption Lake, A Winston Radhauer Mystery by Susan Clayton-Goldner is, hands down, the best mystery that I’ve read in many years. As Oscar Wilde wrote in his famous 1889 essay, The Decay of Lying, “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” I feel that quote describes this masterpiece of storytelling. Susan Clayton-Goldner has created a cast of characters that are flawed; characters that are all fight their own personal demons, which made the temporary suspension of disbelief easy.
Redemption Lake will keep you turning the pages. It’s a book that I found impossible to put down once I started reading. This is a tale with more twists and turns than the path a diamondback rattler makes in the desert sands. Clayton-Goldner is the queen of the red herrings. Every time I thought I had figured out who the murderer was, she threw a curveball that started me down a different rabbit hole.
I have always prided myself on being able to solve the crime before the MC does, but in this case, I failed. This is a mystery that every connoisseur of the mystery genre has to read.
Winston Redhauser, a Detective, investigates 2 weird murders and grows suspious of Matt, a teenager full of guilt and secrets. Matt’s father is charged with murder and the story gets very involved. A must read!! Can’t stop till it ends.
It has been awhile since I finished this book, but I remember the characters as being well developed and realistic and the mystery being well thought out.
Rather dark and moody but a good read.
Redemption Lake (A Winston Radhauser Mystery, #1), my second outstanding read from author Susan Clayton-Goldner. Enjoyable, well-written detective fiction. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! “I received a free Kindle copy of this book in May of 2019 and lost track of it. Now I’ve read it & I’m voluntarily leaving a review.” The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Now I need to read When Time Is A River: A Winston Radhauser Mystery: #2. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Kept me reading.
Really good
Very interesting. I enjoyed the authors pace.
Easy, interesting read. About the time you think you have everything figured out the story turns just a little
Oh wow!!!! Excellent mystery and all over fantastic book. Absolutely loved it.
Really good story and characters. A little too religiousy for me. Detective totally overlooked a major clue of 911 call being made by a woman. If that had been pursued, it would have been solved immediately. But then there’d be no need to learn about the other suspects?
This book is about a detective trying to solve a killing of a woman. The primary suspect knew the victim’s son and has no alibi. He was at the victim’s house and had sex with the victim. The killer turns out to be a coworker of the victim.
Way too much descriptive sex and not very well written.
The new reporter for a small town is asked by a young girl to investigate a murder case in which her father is the accused. Many twists and turns kept me interested.
The hint of romance is kept at just that level. This is the first of a series so who knows where this will go! The reporter is set on getting to the truth and I admired her. I really liked this book.
So sorry this review is for the book “Sign in” so sorry.
Three families are bound together through children and life and death. Matt Garrison makes some bad decisions he loses a cousin and his dad could be next.
Single mother Crystal Reynolds is doing her best for her son, Travis. She works at the local bar so money isn’t always available. Travis starts U of A in the fall with a full-ride baseball scholarship.
Professor Garrison has trained his son well in the decisions he has made over the last few years. His ex-wife left because of one poor decision with Crystal.
Detective Winston Radhauzer lost his family a year ago. These children are close to his son’s age so it keeps his inner turmoil running high while solving the murder.
A death has everyone trying to protect someone they love.
This is a very engaging story. Enjoy the Tucson locations and drive through the state you will enjoy the ride.
This was a new to me author; this book is really great.
Exciting from beginning to end!
Good read
