I really enjoyed this clean romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story. I’ve given it a 5* rating. I’ve never been disappointed by this author before or for this story either. I really enjoyed the characters of this Haven Point series. There are a lot of twists and turns in the hero’s quest to help keep you turning the pages. The heroine is a positive breeze throughout the story, most of the time. It’s about moving forward and making the best of situations. Onto the next story.
Great characters and side characters. Looking forward to more in the series!
Loved this sweet, small-town romance! It’s a beautiful story of redemption, of realizing what’s really important in life and of following the heart. I loved getting to meet more of the town’s residents and look forward to the next book. It’s a true heartwarming book, sweet romance at its best. Highly recommended!
I am so full of the warm and fuzzies right now *sighs*
And trust me, after the week I’ve had, I need all the warm and fuzzies I can get.
Redemption Bay is set in the picturesque little town of Haven Point. No one ever leaves a stranger, and either good or bad, nothing is ever forgotten. *whispers* Elephants have got nothing on this lot *snorts*
What better way to distract myself from RL than to get lost between the pages of a good book?
Mayor McKenzie Shaw has only ever wanted to belong – to feel loved. Haven Point heralded a new beginning for her as a young child and she strives to give back to the town that symbolises home to her. She does have a tendency to assume things, and you know what they say about assuming anything? *winks*
The prodigal son has returned, but Haven Point is the last place on Earth Ben Kilpatrick ever wants to be. Actions have consequences which our delectable (he’s very swoony) hero is about to realise. For all his success, what does he truly have to show for it apart from material wealth? To be truly fulfilled in life, don’t we need more? That connection between one human being to another?
Oi, I’m getting all spiritual here – sorry, I blame the last few days…
This is a story of second chances, not romance-wise, but life-wise. For both McKenzie and Ben have stories to tell (yes, I know, obvs!). Sometimes we have to start at the beginning to realise what we’ve been missing.
I got swept away by Kenzie and Ben’s story. The twists and turns. The will they? / won’t they? Did I want to smack them both upside the head on occasion? Pfft, what do you think? *smirks* Yet, the characters, they never listen, do they? *shrugs*
This book had a quiet tenderness about it, which for all the initial antagonism really spoke to me. The author is very clever in how she weaves you into the story. Like casting her best lure, she reels you in.
*sighs*
I’m going to hold onto this feeling for a little while longer before reality beckons.
To belong is everything, but to find your ‘home’ is priceless.
I just love RaeAnne Thayne’s books! She quickly shot to the top of favorite authors list. While not quite as good as many of her other’s, this book was still very entertaining!
Redemption Bay was titled perfectly. It was a story of redemption. Everyone in Haven Point hates our hero, Ben Kilpatrick, after he shut down the boat factory and sold all his inherited property and holdings to Aidan Caine (hero from the first book). Ben didn’t want to come back to Haven Point and he wasn’t searching for redemption, but that’s what he ended up finding. That and true love with the town’s feisty mayor, McKenzie Shaw.
I really loved the character progression of both Ben and McKenzie. Ben was a hurt, disinterested, rather cold man when the book started but buy the time the book ended, he had embraced his emotions instead of burying them and showed the kind of warm and compassionate man he really was.
I don’t want to give away much about McKenzie, as I feel her character progression is central to the plot of the book, I’ll just say I really liked how Ms. Thayne handled it and how open McKenzie became.
If you enjoy sweet romance, you really can’t go wrong with RaeAnn Thayne!
I received this book as a book-signing gift.
I’ll have to admit, this is the first book by RaeAnne Thayne that I’ve read. I’ll also have to admit I found it to be well written and lovely.
What do I mean by that? I mean that it was lovely. The setting, first of all, was charming and powerful. As a hiker and backpacker I found the descriptions of Redemption Bay and the Redemption Mountains so compelling I wanted to go there and see them for myself. And I’m a sucker for a wonderful small town being from a small town myself.
After that, if there can be such a thing, the female main character, Mackenzie Shaw, is a powerful female example. Driven, ambitious, and powerful while still being caring, sensitive and vulnerable is a hard combination to create but ReaAnne does a masterful job. The right honorable Mayor of Haven Point, Mackenzie’s all of those things and more.
Her portrayal of the male lead was wonderful. I won’t put any spoilers in here but Ben Kilpatrick has just met his match. He only thinks he’s smart and woman resistant.
If you’re into beautiful scenery, cute kids, loyal dogs, and a breathtaking backdrop, this is the book for you!
