From bestselling author, Dr. Rebecca Sharp, comes an emotional, small-town romance with a twist… For years, I was close enough to fame to touch it. Taste it. Drink it.Until one more drink became my answer to everything.Until one night I made a mistake which couldn’t be undone. So, I cut all ties to my former life and the addiction that destroyed it. And I left in search of redemption on the … destroyed it. And I left in search of redemption on the other side of the country.
After months building a new future, I thought my past had stayed put.
Until I opened my front door to find she’d followed me.
Taylor Hastings. My sister’s best friend.
And the good girl I’d never been good enough for.
Not then. Not now. Not ever.
One glance at Taylor’s face told me she’d come searching for a safe haven. One glance at the swell of her stomach told me she hadn’t come alone.
I didn’t hesitate to offer her my help and my home because looking out for her was the right thing to do…
Even if the way I wanted her would always be wrong.
So, I kept my distance. And Taylor kept her secrets.
Until one kiss changed everything.
Until one kiss made me realize it wasn’t our first.

You would definitely feel compelled to read this masterfully woven story.
I knew it was impossible not to be glued to my phone since I read the title of this book. The way these characters were so beautifully broken, till the point where I just wanted to keep rooting for their HEA, was something I still can’t describe with mere words.
“Somewhere in all that planning and preparedness, I lost sight of where I’d intended to go”
Taylor is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read about this year. From the outside, she looked like the kind of woman who had everything figured out. However, on the inside it wasn’t as easy as that.
Not caring about the expectations of her very conservative family and even from the people who knew her, Taylor did the unexpected. But at what cost?
“I can’t stop feeling guilty that who I am still isn’t enough”
How could you not fall in love of Ash? Well, that’s impossible. The man is perfectly imperfect but so so caring and devoted to the ones he loves. His demons follow him to the new town he decided to start over and luckily , he finds people who open their arms to him giving him a second chance to do things right. However, he still needs to face Taylor, the woman he left behind and the responsibility he never envisioned to have on his hands.
“Sometimes, it’s not out place to understand, just to be understanding”
Rececca has created an intense, angsty, emotional ride, which is full of twists and turns that will make you reflect on how a person can still self-discovery even in the most difficult moments of their life and how the best motivation to keep going, to keep fighting will always be the people we love.
I can’t say enough of this story and the beautiful writing. The pace and the character development were fabulous. You definitely want to see them overcome the worst and what future they can create if they just let themselves.
This is a journey you don’t want to miss
“She saw me at my lowest and still wanted the man underneath.”
I’ve been beside myself excited to read this story after meeting him in Reputation. Truthfully, I kinda didn’t like him…then. He really pissed me off with the way he treated his sister whom I adore. Then, after reading the synopsis, I decided to give him a chance at Redemption. As I’m sure you already guessed, he won me over. I’ve gone over to the dark side, trusting that Taylor will work her magic on him, and bring him into her light.
I can’t give you details, but I can suggest that you stock up on energy drinks and tissues. You won’t want to stop reading to sleep and you’ll want to keep your reading device dry from the tears or risk missing out. There are no words to tell you how much I love this story. It is… everything and more.
“The only thing worse than an addiction was an addiction to something you couldn’t have.”
There’s nothing stronger than unforgiveness, right? It can keep you from those you love regardless of who is harboring the guilt. If you feel unworthy, you keep yourself from others ‘for their own good’ and hurt all involved by your absence whether physically or emotionally, right? Removing himself from his friends and family didn’t solve all of his problems, but it did give him perspective. He saw some things more clearly but had a blind spot when it came to her.
She followed him to the other side of the country. She had a secret that she couldn’t hide, but the devil is in the details, right? I could’ve died waiting for that revelation. I almost passed out from holding my breath in anticipation. Afraid of his reaction but anxious for him to know. Another thing that took a few years off of my life was waiting for him to get over her being his little sister’s best friend and his idea that she was too good for him.
I wanted to just light a match and throw it between them. I had no doubt whatsoever that their chemistry contained enough fuel to cause an explosion and I wanted it to happen NOW! But that doesn’t mean that I don’t recognize the fact that is exactly why I enjoyed it so much. The slow burn buildup was soo delicious.
My heart runneth over with emotion and I can’t stop thinking about this story. It touches on some very sensitive subjects in a very tasteful way. The author did such a number on me that I cried and smiled at the same time. And let’s talk about the residents of this amazing new place, Carmel Cove. There are enough colorful support characters to keep this series going indefinitely, much to my delight. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” Yes, I’m addicted, with no need for intervention. The line forms here…
I didn’t expect to be gifted with a book about Ash. Once I’d seen his monster temper in Reputation and how he came around, seeking forgiveness, I thought that was that. However, now I know that there was so much more to this man. While he was busy making everyone’s dreams come true, his sister and his best friend, his own hopes for himself got lost. So lost that he tried to fill the hole left behind with booze. So much booze that he became a functional alcoholic, equipped with a short temper and some severe paranoia. After hurting those he loved most, he decided he needed to put distance between them and his downward spiral. His quest for redemption led him to the small town of Carmel Cove, a place, according to the author, of open-heartedness, charity, and perseverance.
The water of my sins had swallowed me whole, but it was her touch that pulled me gasping from the depths. And even though I was still drenched in the consequences of my past choices, I could breathe again. I could break free from my watery grave.
I could redeem myself.
Taylor was such a kind and caring character. After helping Ash in one of his hours of need, she took something for herself. After adoring him for years, when she knew her affections were reciprocated, she gave in. Their one moment of intimacy created a blessing, one Ash had no clue about when he decided to leave and find himself. Raised in an extremely pious home, her Catholic upbringing branded her a sinner. Refusing to live under the judgmental eyes of her family and their friends, she seeks out Ash, for succor and to tell him about their baby. However, when he welcomes her with open arms and an open heart, she keeps to her own counsel. She tells him nothing. While they fall deeper in love than either of them expected, she keeps him in the dark.
I realized that the strongest emotion I’d felt in the middle of all this tragedy was love. Because in the midst of utter destruction, it’s the only thing worth fighting through it for.
Taylor broke my heart. As much as I loved her, I sat in judgment of her. I abhor secrets and hers was one that wasn’t even hers to keep. Ash wasn’t abusive. He wasn’t a killer, thief, or negative influence. He may not be perfect, but he was so incredibly worthy and he deserved to know. So yeah, my only hangup with this book was the fact that she kept her mouth shut. Angst for no reason really grinds my gears. Otherwise, Redemption was an amazing read about love and forgiveness, a story I’m happy to recommend.
I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to write this review now, I’ve lost count. Every time I try, my eyes tear up and I feel like screaming how unfair life can be.
Ash and Taylor’s story is full of feels. From longing to love, remorse to redemption, new life to the end of it (no words seem adequate) their battle for their happy was exquisite. Smoking hot, desperate and deserving.
You see, this book…. (even now, 2 days later, I’m struggling to find adequate words) it was heartbreaking. Rebecca Sharp’s note at the end of the book broke me. Not the story itself, but the story behind why she wrote it.
Wow this was such a heartfelt read that was emotional and broke my heart only to put it back together again. Ash was struggling with his life, he spent it trying to help others find their happy that he put his own happiness on the back burner then it imploded. Set off by a series of events he hits rock bottom and with no way to go but up he left behind his life and set out to find himself and to get help. Taylor has known Ash her whole being best friends with his sister and been in love with him too. She grew up in a very strict Catholic home, so she denied her feelings for Ash out of Catholic guilt and Ash has loved her for so long but thought she was out of his reach. So, when she ends up on his doorstep needing his help, he doesn’t hesitate to open his doors to her. Ash has built a great life for himself especially getting the help he needed and if it weren’t for Larry his mentor he would be lost. Larry is a fantastic character, he took everyone under his wing, offered sage advice, and was there to help no matter what. He came off as a grump, but he was amazing while suffering himself. I don’t want to give too much of the story away because there are a few twists and turns but I was so happy that Ash found his Redemption and got Taylor while in the process of healing. This was truly a beautiful heartfelt story.
I loved every single thing about this book! Going in, I wasn’t sure how in the world Rebecca Sharp was going to redeem Ash after his actions in Reputation. But she did. She so did. I love him. And Taylor was so perfect for him. The surprise baby plot has been done before, but Sharp put a spin on it that I have never read before. She also broke my heart. No spoilers, but my heart is still broken after a certain part of this book. I can not say enough good things about this amazing book. Everyone needs to read it right now!
Wow! Emotions are running high and seriously 5 tear filled stars! This book was everything and more! Ash’s story can’t be missed! The love and devotion in this man is amazing!
One night, one time, one second can change it all! Everything in the blink of an eye gone! But even when all hope is lost and plans change it could mean the beginning of something beautiful!
Now I loved Reputation but Redemption just blew me away! Ash is such an amazing person! He had so much love for all those around him and did his best to be his best! But Taylor’s heart is what really captured me! She is such a strong person even when she didn’t know it but she always saw the best in people and made the most out of everything! They were the perfect match and complimented each other perfectly!
I also have to say that the people of Carmel Cove have captured my heart and after reading what Sharp had to say I can’t wait for more of this amazing town!
Addiction of any kind is hard to overcome but for Ash seeing the way he was hurting his sister and his best friend he knew he needed to get away and get himself straight so he left his family and friends and did just that. This story is not only about facing your mistakes and making things right it is about going after the things you have always wanted as well, and for Ash that was Taylor.
Taylor showed up on Ash’s doorstep needing help and that is just what he did without any questions, Ash opened his home to her and gave her the safe haven she needed. Taylor had a secret she was keeping from Ash, a BIG SECRET, yes Ash knew she was pregnant he just didn’t know the circumstances that developed that caused her pregnancy and right now she was afraid to tell him for fear of him turning his back on her.
This was a very emotional read for me but I loved every moment of it. The chemistry was scorching, the friendships were more than just friendships – they were family, and the pain of different events hit me like a blast to the chest. I sobbed like a baby a couple of times and when you read the story I am sure you will know when that was.
I was thrilled to find out that this story is kind of/ sort of a prequel to a new series that will be coming soon. I cannot wait to read about the men and women of Carmel Cove.
I would recommend this to those over 17 that enjoy Contemporary Romance especially those that enjoy the surprise pregnancy or siblings best friend tropes.
Happy Reading!!!
Interesting premise.
So I wasn’t sure what to expect with Dr. Sharp’s book. I got more than I bargained for.
I thought the alcoholic premise was realistic and encompassed the sadness and struggle of this disease. Larry was a hoot and I really enjoyed his character. Taylor was frustrating in her delay to reveal all. Ash was frustrating in his fury over several things…understandable, but not where his focus should have been at the time. And any book that references “The Hobbit” is okay in my book.
There were parts I liked and parts that I didn’t like so much. But the Author’s Note at the end helped tie it all together and for that – I am grateful.
Interesting read and I will be looking for more in this Carmel Cove series.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
If you’ve read Reputation you’ll have met Ash before. Like me you probably wouldn’t have liked him very much. He came across as a manipulator and a but of a bully. So to say I was intrigued by the prospect of his story was an understatement.
Ash’s story doesn’t creep up on you it smacks you in the face. I never saw before just how broken my beautiful Ash was. The struggles were hard to read but they made the victories all the sweeter. Taylor is the best friend you want on your side. With a fantastic supporting cast of characters, some of whom we’ll meet in future books.
This is a book that not only entertains but hopefully like me you’ll take a pause and look around at friends and family. A story of love strength and forgiveness. Well done Rebecca on an amazing story.
Redemption is a second chance story about life. While this is a book that follows two characters from Sharp’s previous book, Reputation, it can be read as a complete standalone. Ash and Taylor are pulled from that prior world and set in another town, Carmel Cove, which is the backset to where their healing begins.
Ashton has always taken care of others to the point that it became a detriment of himself. To fill the void of what was missing in his life he began filling the empty hole with alcohol. A functioning alcoholic during the day and a blackout drunk at night. His life was deteriorating before him until Taylor stepped in and saved him. Unfortunately, he doesn’t even remember the night his angel started his way towards redemption.
Taylor grew up in a very religious family, so showing up pregnant would not have gone well when she was still single. Instead she went to the one place or person she felt would understand. However, Ash had disappeared five months ago and she wasn’t exactly sure he wanted to be found and she also wasn’t sure he’d like the news she had to deliver.
Ash was rebuilding his life, sober, for the first time in a very long time. He was also living his life for himself, but when Taylor shows up at his doorstep, pregnant, everything changes.
Omg I love it.
When you a book hits you in the heart and your not even half way through you know it’s a phenomenal book.
I first came across ash in reputation and hated him but my god do I love him now.
My heart went through so many feels reading this book and I definitely wont be forgetting it in a hurry.
This book!!!!!!!! Ash and Taylor are soooo beautifully broken and yet fit so perfectly together. This story is everything!! Rebecca has written her best book yet! I know I keep saying that but she just keeps getting better and better with her books. This book is no exception. So much love, pain, forgiveness and redemption. So beautifully written!! Thank you Rebecca for sharing this story. #herestolarry
5 STARS
“She is mine.” But it was more than that. “She is my redemption.”
OH MY…I wholeheartedly loved this book! My first introduction to Ash was in Reputation and he was in my opinion a big d!ck. Ash in this book is a man changing himself for the better and now I freaking love him! Taylor is just as amazing in this book as she was in Reputation. You see that they both are struggling with their fears and their worthiness to others or even to themselves. I enjoyed the references to religion that Dr. Rebecca Sharp, it was so beautifully written.
“Like the reverse of Adam’s rib being taken to make Eve. Ash was going to take something from me, something that would make us one.”
I can’t wait to read more about all the secondary characters, that we get acquainted with in Redemption. I don’t want to give too many details away, but this was a truly emotional book (even reading the author’s note got to me). Needless to say, but I highly recommend this reading this EPIC book! Redemption by Dr. Rebecca Sharp will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
Rebecca Sharp got inside my heart and my head with her sharp, edgy, powerful and emotional writing in Redemption. This is a love story at so many levels. Loving another person. Loving yourself. Loving life with all the darkness and light. This story made me break down so many times but I left with hope and inspiration for a lifetime.
Both the lead characters have endless shades. Let’s talk about Ash. He has sacrificed his own dreams to make his sister and friends successful in music industry. And all the stress took a huge toll on him. He became alcoholic. This whole story is his journey to forgiveness. Forgiving himself for every wrong this he has done to himself and his loved ones. This story is a heartbreaking, awe inspiring and deeply touching journey of a broken man as he searches and achieves absolution and salvation. He becomes a better man for himself and for Taylor. I loved every moment of his success and cried in every dark moment of loss and despair.
Taylor is the proverbial sweet nerdy girl brought up under the fear of religious protocols of her controlling parents. This girl amazed me with her strength and compassion. She took a big risk for her baby and for the man she loved. She embraced his flaws and soothed his soul’s hurting jagged edges. She was truly a soulmate. And she did all of these while fighting own insecurities and guilt. She literally uprooted her life and made a new one for love. Their connection is so unique. It got me every single time. It had all the colours and nuances possible. It was intense craving, sweet loving, desperate passion and soul deep attraction all rolled into one. The sex scenes were scorching hot but they had a meaning every time. They took a new step towards becoming one after each love making.
There is a third character in the story. The small beach side town of Carmel Cove with all the amazing persons living. Larry, owner of the legendary coffee shop who turned Ash’s life to the new direction. The proverbial guardian of small town. The friends Ash made there. These people made a huge impact on me and filled my heart with all kinds of happy feelings. Even the tragedy came out with positive messages.
Redemption is another raw, gritty, enthralling and sensational story from Rebecca Sharp. I can never have enough of her mesmerizing and poetic writing. She once again won my heart and soul with the brilliant and tragic emotions. Redemption is an epic tale of self love, believing in goodness of people , second chance and new beginnings.
Received ARC for Honest review
This story is beautiful and the characters are extremely beautiful inside. It feels very realistic with the importance of the problems these characters are facing and how they handle their feelings. There is self loathing, overcompensation, over protectiveness but more than anything a lot of care, love and understanding. Ash and Taylor constantly deal with disappointment and hurt. Even more so, they are both consumed by guilt. But situations that would normally be viewed as problems are what would be considered a fresh start for them. They create self acceptance and forgiveness. It takes a lot out of Ash to feel worthy but at the same time it only takes one look at Tay to snap into action in a effort to try. It is impressive to read all that he does and his dedication. Makes you fall in love. And Tay is so pure that she just makes you want to be better. This book of full of life lessons, full of life. The ugly and the pretty.
A Carmel Cove Novel
Bravo, Dr. Sharp! Bravo! I was so excited to find out that Ash was getting his story! Not to scare any one, this can totally be read as a stand-alone. I had read Reputation, where Ash and Taylor make their first appearances as secondary characters so to see them get their own story is phenomenal!
And what an amazing story, what a heartfelt and heartbreaking story all in one. This story gave me all the feels.
The battle of alcoholism, the battle for redemption and leaving the guilt behind is the main premise of this story. Then you also have survivors guilt and the unanswered questions that haunt those left behind.
This is also a story of love, forgiveness and grace…so much grace. The love (and lust, wink..wink) between Ash and Taylor burn up the pages.
I felt the realism and personal feelings and emotions from Dr. Sharp bleed through the words…the words “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” really resonate throughout the story.
And then to find out this is just a prelude to a new series of stories! Well that just made my day! I fell in love with all the characters in this story and cannot wait to see what comes next.
Thank you, Dr. Sharp, for sharing this personal story with us. Until next time…. #herestolarry
Redemption is the redeeming arc of Ashton Tyler. It’s sad and angsty and so beautiful. When you read it, it’ll weasel a piece of itself into your heart and that piece right there is the piece of Rebecca Sharp’s heart that she poured into this book. It’s not at all what I expected, it’s so much more. You’ll feel everything with Redemption and when it’s over you’ll wish you had never read it so that you can experience it all over again for the first time
Dr. Rebecca Sharp has become a fast favorite of mine… and this book is a prime example of why. I love a book with a character that is a complete asshat, but throughout the book, they redeem themselves and the author did this with Ash, who is Blake’s brother (from Reputation). He was not a character I liked very much. But once I started reading this and saw that the author was going that direction, I was a little taken back, I didn’t think she could do anything that would make me fall in love with this character, but low and behold, she did. I am completely smitten with Ash now. This story has sort of personal feel to it for me. Not completely but the topics that this author writes about are topics that hit home hard for me, so it is safe to say I was a little emotional and consumed when it came to Ash and Taylor’s story.
Ash is trying to escape the demons he lives with on a daily basis, he is trying outrun them, and within doing so he finds himself in Carmel… He’s a high functioning alcohol that uses the substance to hide from his demons, to suppress the emotions that come along with those demons, but once in Carmel he starts to turn his life around, but not without struggle and not without realization of what this addiction had truly done to not only him but most important people in his life, one in which is Taylor.
Taylor has ALWAYS been there for Ash. She’s seen him through rough times, she has seen him when he had almost hit rock bottom. Always by his side, always the first person to be there for him and throughout all that, he has developed feelings for him, and she for him as well. But what he thinks is a drunken haze dream he had is a reality and something that truly happened. Something Ash is struggling to remember, yet Taylor has never been able to forget.. but when it all comes to a head and the Ash finds out the truth, it’s as though he’s been given a second chance… It’s taken countless mistakes, fighting demons off with toxic habits and behavior and him to really open his eyes for the first time in his life to finally see what has been standing in front of him the entire time. He starts to find what he needs in life, what he needs love and what he truly deserves and wants… But it took him to nearly lose everything and for his world to fall to pieces for him to finally realize the truth.
I went into this knowing it was gonna rip my heart out before I got that HEA, and it sure as hell did. I cried I laughed, I growled, I was so bent out of shape throughout the book, I found myself squeezing my kindle so damn tight it could have snapped. Like I said above, this story has a personal feel to it for me. I’m someone that has battled addiction, that has loved, lost, and fought so hard to get where I am today… So when it comes to plots like this? Well, they pretty much consume me. I get so invested, I get so emotional… and this book was already going to be emotional and raw for someone who doesn’t and hasn’t struggled, so it really did hit some hard spots for me, but that is what kept me reading too. I wanted to know Ash’s story, I wanted to see what he did and does,… There were moments I wanted to climb into the book and smack him upright the head, and the same can be said about Taylor but really, I absolutely adored these two. They were made for each other and that was made known from the beginning. Addiction and all that comes with addiction are real issues in this world, I have lived with them myself and I’ve seen the people I love/loved struggle too. It’s real, it’s raw, it’s scary and it can be hard to escape from. So to read a book such as this and see how the author worked these topics into it? It was amazing. She flawlessly wrote a raw, emotionally gripping, all-consuming, heartbreaking, tragically beautiful plot that I couldn’t get enough of.
Truly, this book was amazing and I can’t wait to see what she does with the secondary characters in this book, because even they went through more than anyone should in life… These struggles are real and they are life-changing.
I honestly didn’t think I could love this author any more than I already do, but she went and deliver an outstanding and unforgettable read that I will continue to go back to and read
6/5 Stars!!
An emotionally, gripping tale that takes Rebecca Sharp to the next level.
Taylor and Ash are a special couple I couldn’t help falling in love with. This is not an easy story, but with addiction and love it never is. Rebecca Sharp handles it by weaving this story around you where you don’t want to put it down. Ash has to fix himself before he can be with anyone else, but he for sure didn’t see Taylor coming. This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster that will leave your thinking about this book long after you put it dow
