An Emotional Journey! Two people deeply flawed and broken by their pasts find each other and begin the process of helping each other heal while chasing a psychopath.
This is the final book in the Mackenzie Series and it was perfect!! I have waited a long time for Blake and Jessie’s story and it was SO worth it!! This story touched my heart and will live there for a while! I also LOVED the ending!! I will not give it away but I will say, it was the perfect way to end the series!!
It is amazing to think that Ms. St. Klaire has only been writing since 2016, because she is by far one of the best writers out there for romantic suspense. This last story in the series is like the finale at a fireworks display. I was so blown away and yet so sad that it was over. This story of Jessie and Blake has been simmering since the very beginning of the series and boiled over in Redemption. Theirs is a love/hate relationship. They really antagonize each other through most of the book, but that is just who Jessie is. She would much rather give you the finger than say hello. Blake is a protector and bent on protecting the prickly Jessie from her horrific past coming back to terrorize her. Jessie thinks her past is hidden from all of her friends and is really PO’d that Blake has unearthed it. Blake has a hidden past of his own. They must share their pasts in order to put aside their animosity and let the shells around them crack. As things heat up in the sheets, so do they in their little community…and not in a good way. They must work together to overcome the evil that threatens them and those they love. Will it be enough to put out the danger? Will the two strongest of people soften and come together to stay?
I would normally say that you just have to read this book, but in the case of the McKenzie Ridge series, I have to say you have just got to read the whole series. I say that not because you can’t read this book without reading the others, but because each one is so amazing that you will do yourself an injustice if you don’t read EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. Well played, Ms. St. Klaire, well played!
What a great series finale! I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and have watched the sexy alpha police chief Blake Cooper and Jessie Clark, the foul mouth firefighter with a tough exterior, but a heart of gold; dance around their love-hate relationship. They both are close with their McKenzie Ridge family of friends and would do anything to help each one of them, but they both keep people at arm’s length, not sharing their personal secrets and pain.
There is so much going on that I was held captive watching as twists and turns added to the plot, building tension as layer upon layer of clues are discovered and explored. I loved that the O’Reilly boys were involved as well as the rest of the McKenzie gang that I have grown to feel as family. I was rooting for Blake and Jessie to finally succumb to their undeniable chemistry and when they do, whoa it was HOT!
I don’t want to give away anything as this finale needs to be read and enjoyed. The book is best saved for last after enjoying the series that is McKenzie Ridge. This is a wonderful, well written series that has you falling in love with the characters and the town. There are laughs, tears, tension, great chemistry and smoldering sexy times, hilarious dialog and banter. The characters and secondary characters are real, and some are quirky! I love each and every one of them. Terrific book and wonderful series!
What a fantastic end to a fabulous series. What a way to send Mackenzie Ridge out in a blaze of glory. From book one you just knew that Blake and Jessie would get together, they were alike in that they both had hidden pasts that neither had come to terms with. This book had me on the edge of my seat from page one and didn’t let up until the end. A peek into Jessie’s past was given to us at the beginning when Blake thought she was in trouble and had to protect her. Blake knew her past but didn’t tell her because he knew her even if she didn’t think he did and this was not something she would want him to know about her. She didn’t want to be broken or damaged in anyone’s eyes least of all Blake’s. Where Jessie used her hostility and abrasiveness to keep people away from her thinking she was saving herself from caring for people and having them leave her or disappoint her, Blake kept himself behind his closed off demeanor to protect himself. These two needed each other to heal from the past. As danger got closer, Blake became more protective of Jessie and he needed outside help. In comes his old Army buddy,Carter and Logan, his deceased Army buddy’s son and the O’Reilly brothers and their company Brothers Keeper to help Blake protect Jessie. As more fires are burning in Mackenzie Ridge everyone pulls together to protect Jessie. Even though she wanted to protect her “family”from her past Jessie finally realized she needed to tell them to keep them safe.
When Blake and Jessie finally open up to each other they find a whole new world. One that includes each other in an actual relationship not the antagonistic relationship they had. They did realize underneath that that they were meant for each other. Something that everyone else in Mackenzie Ridge knew all along. When Blake and Jessie finally made it to the bedroom their need for each other was explosive. Those scenes were HOT!
This entire series has been fantastic and this book was just the cherry on top. The way the entire series was wrapped up in the end was perfect and you couldn’t ask for a better or a more fitting end.
Sometimes you run across an author that you just know every book they write will be a hit and that you immediately love. Stephanie St. Klaire is without a doubt one of my favorites! This long awaited final installment in the McKenzie Ridge Series certainly met all my expectations. Jessie and Blake’s story ripped my heart to pieces then put it back together. They each had such a sad tragic past to overcome but came out of the other side stronger. Jessie and Blake’s love hate relationship had sparks flying! Their love story is the best one yet!
The sassy Stephanie St. Klaire continues to sizzle!! The heat blazing through McKenzie Ridge isn’t very well contained when it comes to Blake & Jessie and I wouldn’t expect anything less! Stephanie weaves a nice blend of humor, salty attitudes, smexy romance, “sword” fights, fear & vindication throughout Redemption, and as usual, my biggest problem is having another awesome series come to an end! Stephanie continues to impress and leave me wanting more, so bring it on lady, I need more of what you’re delivering!!
Their fight was harder because their love was bigger- it was fated- they had just been blind to it.” This sentence is how I would describe Blake and Jessie through the first four books in this series. They have been minor characters with big roles and I fell hard for them from the first book. THIS is what I was waiting for and Ms. St.Klaire has outdone herself. The story that unfolds in these pages is more than I could have ever expected and everything I needed.
So Blake and Jessie… who do I tackle first? Blake. Blake is everyone’s protector. He is not only the law in town but he is ex military. But nobody knows exactly what he did in the military because 1, he never talks about it and 2 neither does anybody else. And 3 the core group of friends would never dare to ask. Throughout the series, he’s been the one to come up with plans that catch the bad guy. He puts the right people where they need to be in order to protect his friends and the people he considers family. This one is different in that Jessie has worked her way into his heart. She didn’t even try. The relationship that they have has in the past is one of tolerance and so much snarkiness. They are the king and queen of one line zingers. What it masks is the unwillingness to let anyone get close. Blake’s demons are kept so close to his vest that he refuses to share with anyone. Until he screws up with Jessie and feels he owes her a piece of him that no one else does.
Jessie is the town bad ass. She doesn’t take shit from anyone and will let you know what you did wrong immediately and bluntly. She loves her friends and is fiercely protective of them too. She has learned to be that way because of her past as well. She even became a firefighter to defeat one of her demons. And she’s succeeding. She is one of the bravest people on the team. She runs to the danger not away from it. That is until her past starts showing up. The man who she was a victim of was released from prison and things are happening around town that are all too familiar. Jessie has always been my favorite character in this series. She is snarky and blunt but not in a mean way. She doesn’t talk down to her friends and she will protect them within a inch of her life. But she has never told anyone what happened to her. No one knows and she feels that they can never know. She doesn’t want their pitty. When she becomes a godmother to one of the many babies born, this quote is perfect. ” Godmother, not mentor. You may teach her you kindness and love for others, not swearing and flipping people off.”
When they finally do get together, I don’t think a nuclear explosion could have torn me away from my book. They love each other totally and they know that it would never be just sex. I was a puddle after swooning to the conversations they had about this subject.
In every Mackenzie Ridge story, there is more than just a love story and this is no different. Jessie’s past comes barreling down on her and she is paralyzed with fear not just for herself but for the people she considers family. She can’t let anything happen to them. And true to Blake’s nature, he has all the details of Jessie’s past. He can’t and won’t let anything happen to her. He watches over her constantly, even moving himself and his dog into her home. I was kept guessing through until the very last chapter. Ms St. Kaire weaves a tale from book one that concludes here in book 5. I am sorry to see this series end. I found myself not wanting to finish. But the best was definitely saved for last. Blake and Jessie will stay with me for a long time.
Redemption is book 5 in the McKenzie Ridge Series. This is a series that I highly recommend that you read the books in order not only because it’s a great series but that you’ll get better appreciation of the series, the characters within the series as a whole.
We have seen a glimpses of Blake and Jessie through out the series. Slow build up. You always got the impression that there was something underlying between. That famous Love/Hate relationship.
Jessie becomes a fire fighter to overcome her fears of her past. It’s a past that when you read about it will bring tears to your eyes and compassion to your soul. It made me feel deeply. Jessie is the type of person that has an abrasive personality and is hard to like at first. Little glimpses of her true self shine through throughout the book.
One person that sees through her abrasiveness is the very hot police chief Blake. He has a way of seeing the true character of a person. He’s supporting Jessie without her even being aware of it.
Jessie’s past comes back to haunt her present and endangers those around her. Blake and Jessie work together to uncover what is going on.
The town of McKenzie Ridge once again proves that not only are they friends they are family. A family that works together to protect their own.
I love how we get to catch up with all the other characters from the previous books in the series. It made me feel like I was one of the actual characters watching their lives unfold around me.
I love the banter between the characters. It adds a more realistic edge to the story. The build up of intrigue is great. It had me gripping the edges of my kindle because I was so caught up in the story.
This series is one of those rare ones….it just gets better with each book. I’m sad that the series is over but know without a doubt we will read other great books by Stephanie St. Klaire.
To say im sad to see this amazing series end is an understatment…wow!! What a way to bring it home!! Blake and jessie. Blake is the most fierce and protective man in mckenzie ridge, jessie is all fire and attitude. This is their turn to share their stories in true SSK style. It has it all suspence laughter with the gun shooting kind with a little rabbit!! This is my absolute favourite book as i have rooted for these 2 for awhile. Congrats Stephanie on a amazing book!
It’s sad to know that this is the finale of the McKenzie Ridge series, but Ms. St. Klaire closed it out with more than just a bang…she gave us a technicolor explosion! This book had me on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, I swooned, I ugly-cried, and I fell in love even more with McKenzie Ridge.
Blake and Jessie are two hard-as-nails bad-butts who have been butting heads from the series beginning. They both have secrets in their pasts and have built tough exteriors as a survival technique. Deep down, they have serious feelings for each other but are afraid to act on them. As Blake said, “Because Jessie! Because falling in bed with you is falling in love with you. Okay? I…can’t. I can’t love you. I can’t…love.”
Blake and Jessie must go through a baptism by fire, and this author drew me in and made me feel all their emotions. However, this story also featured all my old, faithful friends from McKenzie Ridge. This was my favorite book in the series. I highly recommend reading it!
Wow truly an amazing way to end the McKenzie ridge series. Sad thus series is over but know Stephanie will release more amazing books in the future. She made Blake and Jessie story truly great and made it so them kept them both so true to themselves. I knew in book one this couple would be amazingly hot together and Stephanie made that happen. A most read story u will be not be disappointed.
Wow! What a conclusion! Being back in McKenzie is a treat…..but the story line is incredible. I could not put this book drown and now I have a book hangover! A must read!
As with all Stephanie St. Klaire’s I was on the edge of my seat. She pulls you in with the first chapter and it doesn’t end there. Her books make you feel like you’ve been through your worst nightmare. “Redemption” is no different. It sucks you in and holds you there. Blake and Jessie are both have broken souls. They both believe that if you keep people at a distance, you won’t be hurt. They keep fooling themselves with heated barbs to keep each other away. Jessie didn’t know that she’d need Blake to be safe. Blake knew something/someone hurt Jessie horribly and unbeknownst to her, he’s been keeping her safe since she showed up in McKenzie Ridge. Blake had his own demons to fight. When Jessie’s past comes back to haunt her will she trust Blake with the truth so he can hopefully chase away or slay her demon. As usual with Stephanie, you won’t know who dun it till the end!
Another great read from Stephanie. This is a stand-alone book but will be better enjoyed if you start at the beginning of the series. Total awesomeness.
Stephanie St. Kaire has written the end of her McKenzie Ridge series. With no holds barred, Ms. St. Kaire Redemption has it all: humor, suspense and plenty of sexy romance. Blake and Jessie, both powerful, strong-willed, yet Jessie might have a slight edge for being so bullheaded. Blake knows Jessie needs him and will not give up on her. With all the rough and tough appearance, Jessie is alone and scared. Blake just has to convince Jessie that she doesn’t have to face the terror alone. With friends from the past McKenzie Ridge books, they have an army to back them both up and rid them of the danger that threatens to destroy not only Jessie, but the entire McKenzie Ridge.
A gripping story to end the series. Can’t wait to see what is in store for Stephanie’s fans.
As I suspected from the beginning Jessie and Blake were my favorites. I loved Jessie’s snarkiness, wit and humor. Blake balanced her perfectly. The twists and turns kept you from putting it down. Amazing book from an amazing author.
Redemption is the last book in the McKenzie Ridge series. The twists and turns the couples in this series have all faced, were well written and well thought out. I’ve been waiting for Blake and Jessie’s story since Ms. St. Klaire’s first introduced us to McKenzie Ridge. It was worth the wait.
Blake and Jessie both have shadowy backgrounds. They’re private people. They don’t share what their lives were like prior to settling into life in McKenzie Ridge. Blake is ex-military and needs to be the protector. In his role as Police Chief, he fills that position quite well. Jessie needs to be strong. As a firefighter she faces her demons daily. When evil converges in McKenzie Ridge, Blake and Jessie are both in danger from their pasts.
The intrigue in this book is right up there with the romance. As usual, there is a sharp right turn towards the end of the book, that you absolutely do not see coming! A fabulous ride, and a worthy ending to this wonderful series.
I’ve been reading Stephanie St. Klaire since her debut in 2016. Holy Kats…she’s only been writing for about 2 years and I look forward to all of her works.
Blake had a softer side that she always suspected he had but only witnessed for the first time tonight. He made her feel safe, and she believed him when he said he would protect her. She didn’t doubt that for a minute. But could she let him?
BLAKE & JESSIE! AHHH! FINALLY!
I’ve been waiting for this story foreeeeeever, and I was not disappointed. These two have been dancing around each other for far too long. And when this story began … wow, it didn’t even start slow! I can’t believe how much was jam packed into this story!
As much as I love Jessie & her sassy, independent attitude, I kinda wanted to smack her a couple times. She was just SO argumentative, and although I totally get her later, right then she was frustrating! Everyone tries so hard to get close to her, but she just keeps pushing them away. Especially Blake, who sees something in her that he identifies with, and when he tries to help — she just keeps pushing!
When Jessie is almost … well, let’s just say something major happens, and Blake has finally had it! “I said stop. That means quiet. I talk; you listen…got it?” He tossed her a look of fury that easily matched her own. “You could have died back there, ya know it? Died, Jessie. I know you are dealing with something-something big-and I get that you aren’t ready to or just don’t want to talk about it, but let’s get something clear. You don’t get to kill yourself. You don’t get to die, running from whatever the hell you’re running from. You don’t get to leave us, or … me.” Gah! Yes! Thank you, Blake, for finally manning up and letting her know what’s up!
Seriously, there was so much going on that I can’t begin to cover it all in a review. The unraveling of Blake, and Jessie, was such a beautiful and difficult thing to read. I loved being able to delve into their pasts and into their hearts, but it also broke my heart a little. This story delivered the anticipated suspense and action I love, but also something truly beautiful.
Two of my favorite lines:
-one represented how deep Blake truly had already fallen: “Because falling into bed with you is falling in love with you. Okay?”
-the other showed Jessie’s true strength to rebuild her life and encompasses all that is McKenzie: “I chose life, and good, and happiness. That’s what brought me to McKenzie and keeps me here.”
I have wanted this story for so long! EEK! Blake and Jessie!! OMG!! I’m sad that this is the last McKenzie Ridge novel but damn did she end it well! Get ready for an edge of your seat, H-O-T story. Secret pasts, danger and super sexiness are all rolled into this one. I loved every word but most of all loved seeing my favorite Bad-A girl get her HEA. This author knows how to write a story with heat, intrigue and content that will give you all the feels! What are you waiting for? Get this now!!
Blake and Jessie finally get their story and what a story it was! This is a perfect ending to one of my most favorite series ever.
Blake is a sexy, secretive and fiercely loyal Lawman to his friends and the people of Mackenzie Ridge. The tragedies in his past give him a stronger sense of duty to protect those around him yet remain closed off from his feelings and desires. Jessie deals with her past traumas by being as unwomanly as possible. She’s sarcastic, filthy mouthed, always flipping people off, hates glitter and loves her combat boots. Blake and Jessie’s story was all-consuming. Filled with great humor and laughter, intense chemistry and suspenseful plot twists that readers of Stephanie St. Klaire knows will be in her books, this is a definite must read.
A terror was coming for her
A wonderful ending to the McKenzie Ridge series. Jessie & Blake have been fighting their attraction all series. We knew they had hidden secrets and living with pain. This is their story and what a story it is. Blake is a smoking hot protector. Jessie is rude, crude, and tells it how it is (love her). I love this series with a group of friends who are very close and take care of each other through everything. Wonderfully written with depth to the characters, dialogue, and the plot. Stephanie delivers everything we expect from her: comedy, smoking hot romance, angst, secrets, pain, suspense, an epic twist you won’t see coming, healing hearts, and a Happily Ever After. The entire series is a must read.
