Angel, sold into prostitution as a child, survives by keeping her hatred for men alive. Then she meets Michael Hosea who loves her unconditionally. Day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance, her heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. So Angel runs…
one of the best books I have ever read, bought it for my daughters.
It has been a few years since I read but in ways, Society in our world today uses themselves for gain and to meet physical needs for themselves.
I love Francine Rivers books
This is the best book I have ever read.
Love this book! A historical romance with a genuinely good hero and a troubled heroine. A wonderful twist on a classic trope and Bible story. Heart aching but warming, my favorite romance by far (Sorry P&P!). The Christian overtones of the book really make it lovely and a wonderful read and reread (and reread and reread and reread).
An emotional rollercoaster of anger, fear, betrayal and above all, love. You’ll never be the same after reading this book.
An amazing example of forgiveness. Over and over. Just as God offers to His children. I hve read this book twice. Love it. !
Literally one of the best books I’ve ever read absolutely stunning absolutely beautiful really life-changing
This book will keep you wanting more. I love Francine Rivers and always look forward to reading her newest book!
I absolutely love Francine Rivers. All of her books are wonderful but this one is special since it is the first one she wrote after she accepted Christ. It beautifully portrays the love of God towards his children.
My favorite book of all times. My heart ached as I read this stroy. So emotional.
Best book I have ever read. Gives new understanding of forgiveness.
One of the best books I’ve ever read!
A wonderful story of love and forgiveness.
Francine rivers is one of my favorite authors. I gave the book to my daughter. She loaned it to quite a few friends. They all loved it
The best book I’ve ever read.
This is a story of the Old Testament book of Micah the prophet but in a later time but mirrors the Scriptures. It’s a very emotional journey that shows God’s unconditional love even during rebellion and deepest sin an end that He never gives up on us. He never fails us.
This is one of my most favorite books of all time.
If you want to know what true, unconditional love is – the closest human love to God’s love, this book tells the story of that love. What an amazing man! What a broken woman who has to learn that there really is that kind of love.
Francine Rivers has a way of drawing you into the story. I find her books hard to put down. Very inspirational.
This book is a retelling of the biblical story of Hosea and Gomer.
The prologue was emotionally hard to read as you want to jump in and save this little girl. She leads such a sad childhood and is sold into prostitution at age eight. This is a Christian romance, but not “clean”.
Michael Hosea is the epitome of a good, Christian, loving and honest man. He knows as soon as he sees Angel walking down the street that he is supposed to marry her.
Fast-forward and she is having a hard time being a farmers wife. She has so many walls up preventing her from being loved and hurt again. Most of the story is about her discovering her worthiness, finding love and redemption and his forgiving and unrelenting love. There are some heartbreaking parts to read, and you want to throw your hands up in the air multiple times at her decisions. There are also raw and tender moments. Some things (like Miriam’s choice) bugged me and Angel running away got old. Overall though, I thought it was a well-written book.
It does get a bit more preachy for my taste in the end. I prefer not to read books with lots of prayers being said and discussions with God so much. I do love when they feel the work of God in their lives, so it can be a tricky line before I think its too much.
