A heartwarming second chance, small town romance perfect for fans of Taryn Quinn, Jami Albright, and Justine Davis.
I had a plan for my life. One that would never involve marriage, or kids, or being stuck in the one-horse Texas town I grew up in.I saw how it worked out for my parents, and I wanted no part of their heartbreak.
So I ran.
My career was the only commitment I had time for. The … ran.
My career was the only commitment I had time for. The only one I was ever willing to make. But life didn’t care about my plan.
I didn’t expect to go home again, but here I am.
I never, ever planned on seeing Tucker Monroe again, but here he is.
His sexy smile and country charm were the reason I left.
But with every smirk this single dad gives me, I’m finding it hard to remember why.
All that’s on my mind is Tucker, but I can’t give in to the feelings that never quite went away. I have to remember what my ambitions are.
But he’s too tempting. And just as dangerous for me as he ever was…

4 star Review of Redeeming Lottie (Billingsley #1) by Melissa Ellen
AUDIO REVIEW:
Recently I have found myself gravitating to small town romances, add in that this is a second chance at love story and it was a win/win for me. Melissa Ellen is a relatively new author to me and I found this story to be as entertaining. Narrated by Erin Coker and Ski, both did an admirable job bringing Lottie and Tucker’s story to life.
Having left behind Tucker and her small town 12 year ago, Lottie finds herself back home again, but hopefully not for long. It is obvious that they have unresolved feelings, the question is should they explore what sizzles between them and take a chance or ignore the attraction?
This was a sweet, at times frustrating story, and there were times when my heart broke for the characters but I was left with a smile on my face.
This was my first Melissa Ellen’s book. This is the first book in The Billingsley Series. This is a sweet Small Town Romance and Second Chance to love. Tucker and Lottie’s story is beautiful. Tucker is handsome, charming, sexy, caring and supportive. Lottie is a careerist, independent, and determined. They share an undeniable chemistry, but their relationship suffered from a lack of communication, and misunderstandings. The supporting characters are great. I like the friendship in this story. The little one, Lilly, is so cute! I love the happy ending. Erin Cocker and Ski did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Chasing Hannah.
Didn’t Like the Heroine
This is a kind of book that makes me realize why I prefer historical romances in general. Normally, when I have an issue with a main character in a romance, it is usually the hero. Some authors make them too unlikable for too long. Unfortunately, I had the same issue here with the heroine. Right from the prologue, I didn’t like her. I found her too abrasive and certainly unfeeling. I’m just not a fan of that type of woman or heroine. As such, I could not get into the story. Perhaps if the author had softened her a little earlier, I could have warmed up to the story, but I could never relate to her, which is essential for me in a romance. There’s also some mild profanity, which I’m not a fan of whatsoever in any type of writing, but certainly not in a romance. The cover led me to believe that this would be a more pleasant contemporary romance, but I did not find it to be so.
I received a free copy of this cookbook, but that did not affect my review.
This was a sweet short read. It did take awhile to warm up to Lottie. She was not one of my favorite characters.
Redeeming Lottie by Melissa Ellen. Everything works out for a reason and most of the time it’s best to not have a set plan. I found this story to be a nice paced contemporary drama with just enough steam, drama, and conflict to keep you interested until the end. This is a new author for me and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 Stars
The story had a fairly smooth flow to it. The story line and character work were both good. There were a few grammatical errors.

Lottie is back in her home town of Billingsley 12 years after she left to sort out the family farm her mother left her after she passed. She needs help doing up the house in order to sell it and unfortunately Tucker is the guy to help her and that means dealing with her past and what caused her to leave 12 years ago. The characters are great and there is plenty of laughter, sadness and everything in between as we see both Lottie and Tucker navigate their feelings from the past and now. This is a great start to the series and getting to know the characters that make up Billingsley which leaves you wanting to know more about everyone and seeing who gets the next book!

This is my first time reading anything by this author. I really enjoyed it and will be reading more by her. This was a great second chance story. Lottie and Tucker had a lot to work through but were perfect together. Lily is a hoot. Gotta love that little girl. Hannah is also great!!!! Can’t wait to read her story.

I really enjoyed this book in the end but I must say I got very frustrated at times with Lottie. I felt at her age she should have matured more than she came across at times which made it harder for me to connect to the character. Tucker was a great character. I really connected with his character and became fully engaged in his story. I did enjoy the banter between these characters and in was pleased in the ending. The story did a great job of bringing you along on the journey and I was happy that Lottie finally figured out that she could make her own choices and not live her life alone just because of how her parents lived their life together. I can’t say it was a bad read, just be prepared to want to slap some sense into Lottie when you read it.

Lottie left her town and her high school sweethearts to work in fashion. And Tucker was the towns golden boy and son of a prominent family.
