Sons of Anarchy meets Grease
Danika is a sophomore in college. She’s super organized and knows what she wants. She even has a five and ten year life plan. Dani’s life of keeping her nose in her textbooks and getting impeccable grades has served her well. Made her parents proud. Kept her on a path toward the white-picket-fence and clean-cut husband she always dreamt she wanted. The life her … always dreamt she wanted. The life her parents wanted for her more than anything.
Until she sees Max pull up to campus on his bike.
Max is the President of the Red Thorns, the toughest motorcycle crew in Ann Arbor.
He took over during a time of turbulence and has restored balance and the closest thing to peace men like him can have. He’s a steady and fierce leader. He leaves no room for error and commands the respect of his men.
Everything is running smoothly for him and his crew until they take a new job and find themselves back in the kind of hot water Max has been working hard for three years to avoid.
Things are made infinitely more complicated when a girl comes into the picture.
Suddenly Max has more to worry about – and protect – than he thought he did. There’s danger on the horizon and there’s nowhere to go but forward.
If light and dark had human personas, that wraps up the metaphor for Danika and Max.
Red Thorns is the first book in a planned trilogy. It’s a College Bully Romance but the love interest is NOT the bully. It ends in a cliffhanger.
Book 2: Red Rose releases March 20th
Book 3: Red Queen releases April 24thmore
5 stars for Red Thorns by Rebel Hart. This is book 1 in the Red Thorns Crew Series. Holy crap this cliffhanger. Wow Max and Dani, I do not even know where to start. So, this is a bully MC romance, but not in the typical sense. It is not the hero who is the bully. Max is the bad boy Red Thorns president, and Dani is an innocent good girl. These two are total opposites but they are drawn to each other. They have chemistry that jumps off the page at you. Dani is starting to come into her own, learn who she wants to be. “That’s what makes a girl a woman, Confidence. Knowing herself, being unafraid to take what she knows and make it her own.” I do not want to spoil anything, so I’ll stop here. This book was an amazing read and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Starting book 2 now, I need to find out what happens to Max and Dani.
I have seriously loved this series from the first book to this one. Max and Dani are some of my favorite characters for sure. This was an absolute perfect ending for their story and i just couldnt get enough.
Red Thorns is the first book in a planned trilogy about a motorcycle club of the same name. Specifically, we meet Max, the MC’s president, and Dani, the innocent college girl.
Summary:
Danika had a life plan. Certain goals and achievements she needed to obtain to have the life she always wanted. She needed to keep her head down, nose in her books and then she’d have everything she ever dreamt of, including the clean-cut husband. She starts her sophomore year with confidence in her plans, until she sees him. Max is big, rough, and dangerous. He has to be, to be the president of the toughest MC in Ann Arbor, the Red Thorns. All Danika’s plans fade in the face of the electric connection she and Max share. Max has led his crew to a time of peace. Or at least as peaceful as they can manage. He doesn’t need an innocent muddling his head. Especially when a routine job morphs into something much messier, and with ties to their violent past. Danger is coming for them and Danika may just be caught in the middle.

I was intrigued by this book after reading the blurb and learning it contained three of my favorite sub-genres: college-age, bully, and MC. I enjoyed Red Thorns and think it’s a good start to the trilogy, but I also have some mixed feelings about it. Dani, our heroine, is a Sandra Dee level goody. This didn’t really bother me as she was obviously sheltered in her childhood, and held to high expectations. I did feel this information was unnecessarily reiterated when the majority of her actions and thoughts fairly screamed it for her. It’s understandable and even expected that she’d be finding herself at this time in her life, but sometimes it felt like I was reading two separate people. I loved seeing the confident, intelligent, and sassy woman come out in her, but the changes in her personality could be abrupt, and I felt she was maybe too naive for being a sophomore with freedom from her parents and Hannah as a best friend. Max, our hero, is a strong alpha male type with some mystery to keep you reading to get more. For the most part, I liked him. He was intelligent and protective. I am a little confused about the MC and his role as president, though. The balance of power is skewed with orders seemingly coming from someone else. I was also confused and maybe a bit disappointed that Max didn’t do more after the club was cheated out of their money. As a couple, Max and Dani are complete opposites, but I liked this about them. I like the idea of the good girl shaking the bad boy up, and complicating his life in all the best ways. There was one instance that I hated reading about Max’s actions, but I hope that was the only time it happens and a way to make his fall seem that much more exciting. Overall, this was a good read. I would have liked a bit more meat when it came to the MC, but there are still two more books to get that. The storyline is a good one. I do like a good bully story, but I’m not sure I’d personally categorize this book as a bully romance. There is bullying, but not by the hero to the heroine. The hero can be a bit of a jerk, though. Sadly, the supporting cast weren’t any of my favorites. I didn’t feel the connection between them and the MCs. They were talked about as if they were super close, but that didn’t translate in the actions for me. That said, I was and still am most interested in the MCs and learning more about them. I’m really looking forward to seeing where Max and Dani go from here. At times, my heart would race with adrenaline for what was happening or about to happen next. I will definitely read on for that feeling, and because I’ve become invested and have to know if they get their HEA.
This is the first book in the Red Thorns Crew series, and the story of Max, and Danika. Max is your typical bad boy, and Danika is the good girl, trying to spread her wings, and when she meets Max, they have immediate attraction. Max, and Danika are definitely opposites attract, but when they have great chemistry, and i was intrigued by their story. This book was intense, twisted, action-packed, suspenseful, dramatic, steamy, and emotional. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Wow what a story this got it out to be with its twists and turns bullying and oh you guessed it plenty of hotness. When I pick up a book by this author I know it’s going to be a great read and Rebel proves it once again with this one. I love everything about it from the beginning to the end I couldn’t put it down. Max and Dani will have you feeling all types of things in the whole story line is amazing as well. The ending made me want the next book that much more well actually the whole story does. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the story Rebel truly does an amazing job with this one.
If you like a passionate read with bad boys, motorcycles and a great love story, don’t miss this new college bully romance by Rebel Hart. Highly Recommended!
Having read Rebel’s books from her very first I can honestly say this is her best book yet. The flow of the writing was smoother and the anticipation if what is to come left me waiting for more.
In this book we meet the “good girl” Danika and the “bad boy” Max. This is the very definition of opposites attract. In her sophomore year of college we see Dani start to spread her wings after lots of encouragement from her best friend/roommate Hannah and Max. I live the interaction between Dani and Hannah along with Dani and Max.
The reason for the 4 stars is that it seems Danika can only focus on school/Hannah or Max. As a reader we miss out on what her school life is like when she really gets tired up in Max. There are some pieces that get looked over after something is mentioned. Example: telling Max she school the next afternoon, but then the next day occurs with no talk about classes.
I didn’t have some theories about where this series is going so I can’t wait to read the next one!
I really liked this start to Max and Danica’s story. The plot was fast paced. The characters intrigued me. I want to know more about them. Red Thorns left me with so many questions. I can’t wait to read the rest of Max and Danica’s story.
MAKE IT LESS BORING
Holy Guacamole!!! I need the next book! What a wonderful story filled with twists and turns and love and bullying and sex .
Over the last year or so the “bully” high school/ college genre has been inundated with books. At first I really enjoyed reading them however it didn’t take long for me to grow bored. I found the majority of them to be very similar to one another , and juvenile in nature.
With all that in the back of my mind I still wanted to give this one a chance after reading the synopsis. I am extremely thankful I did!
I don’t know how Hart does it but she has written something so original, I wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of feelings I would have! The storyline and characters have such an adult feel. I was completely able to understand the different characters motivations and the love story between Max and Dani gave me all the feels!
If you’re a fan of bad boys with good girls or you like a bit of suspense in your romance, I can’t recommend this book enough! This is not your typical high school/college “bully “ romance, NO !!! This is something more , something beyond that and it’s sublime!
Well this is the first book that I have read from Rebel Hart and I can honestly say that I am a fan for life. This book had me after the first chapter. The instant attraction between Max and Dani is there. Oh my, it is a slow build and when everything starts happening it gets so good. This series is going to be amazing. I love MC series and this is different than others out there. There is a lot of action and twist going and will keep you on the edge of the seat. I cannot wait to read the next book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
