From the author of the Jack Ryan series comes an electrifying #1 New York Times bestseller—a standalone military thriller that envisions World War 3…A chillingly authentic vision of modern war, Red Storm Rising is as powerful as it is ambitious. Using the latest advancements in military technology, the world’s superpowers battle on land, sea, and air for ultimate global control. It is a story … ultimate global control. It is a story you will never forget. Hard-hitting. Suspenseful. And frighteningly real.

It’s Clancy at his best, what else needs said?
I enjoyed his usual writing skills but loved the unexpected romantic aspect and the little guy becoming the hero.
Red Storm Rising is a great what if? What is the NATO powers and the Soviets went to war instead of the Cold War ending? Good characters, lots of storylines and completely holds your interest.
I love all of Clancy’s books about spies and the delta force. So realistic
One of his BEST! All too realistic and pertains to today’s world
Clancy does it again. Wild ride with great technical details and character development. Believable, exciting read.
Clancy at his best!
Really glad it never came to this.
Love his work.
As a new sailor in 1987, this book hit home with me. It was so real I was blown away. This was my first of his books to read and I missed a chance to get it autographed by him at the Norfolk Base Exchange. I had no idea who he was at the time, but was an immediate fan once I read this one after hearing about his base visit. RIP Tom. you’ve given me and millions of others dare I say billions of hours of entertainment. WELL DONE, SIR.
A powerful story that makes one realize how widespread the terrorism problem has been. There were a lot of positive messages in this book which really drew me to the characters. It was very suspenseful and kept me up past my bedtime.
I first read this book when it was released in the 80s and the US and the USSR were still immersed in the Cold War. This book took the reader down a path of realistic scenarios which lead to an escalating confrontation between both superpowers. Great story, great characters, scary premise – especially during that time when it felt like we might actually clash with the Soviets. Have always been a Clancy fan and this was his second after Hunt for Red October made a huge splash.
Clancy’s best
One of my favorite books of all time.
Clancy’s second book envisions a war, primarily a naval war, between the US and Russia (obviously, this was written a while ago) and shows just how complex a war really is, with so many different actions by so many different people. It also shows that the best plans can be thwarted by something totally unexpected and that the big picture can be dramatically changed by the actions or inactions of one or two individuals here and there.
My husband bought it. I looked at the size and with 5 kids I felt I didn’t have the time to get through such a tome.
Hubby was away and I got bored and picked it up. I stayed up until the wee hours knowing I had to get up and get the kids off to school. They had cereal for 3 days and PB&J for lunch with Pot Pies for dinner. They LOVED it. I spent every minute I could until I finished the book. This is one of my top 5 which includes Beach Music and Nobody Lives Forever.
I’ve read of the Tom Clancy books. This was my favorite.
The first of his books I ever read, the one that got me hooked, and I think it is his best.
One of Clancy’s Best. The book was based on a war game simulation of WW3 in Europe during the cold war. Larry Bond ran the war game and Tom wrote the book. He often introduced new weapons or technologies in his books which at the time sounded like science fiction. Today we know it wasn’t. He undoubtedly had inside Information on what the military was working on. In this book it was the stealth fighter. You must place yourself back in the days of the cold war, when all you knew about modern warfare in Europe came from WW2, to fully enjoy the book.
Although I couldn’t stand his politics he writes a detail oriented book of plausible happenings about Russia invading Europe. Detail about weapons, combat tactics and action made this my favorite read. I’ve reread this book four times. Now, in this time of global turmoil, this book might become the truth.
